We were fortunate to have Privilege room 303 with a balcony which overlooked the road. The room was well-equipped (Nespresso, mini bar, gowns, toiletries etc). The road is very noisy but that added to the Neapolitan experience. Once the windows were closed however, the soundproofing was excellent. The staff was very friendly and efficient. There is no restaurant (although room service is available) and the temporary bar was closed (maybe due to it being Sunday or November). Il Chicco d'oro, the cafe next door, seemed to be open all of the time and served excellent food, pastries, gelato, beer and of course coffee. Breakfast in the hotel was extensive, including really excellent pastries, and we ate on the veranda overlooking the castle. The hotel is excellently positioned, just 300M from the final Alibus (airport transfer) stop, and just 150M from the Municipio metro. It was an easy-to-navigate 2KM walk to the main station at Piazza Garibaldi and a similar distance to Porta Norlana (to catch the Circumvestiana train to Pompeii). Spaccanapoli is 1KM away on a direct route or 2KM via the bustling Via Toledo. It felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night. Without question, we would stay here again if visiting Naples.
the hotel is very near the Port and the metro station and you can easily walk around. Rooms were confortable and the breakfast was good. ladys in the reception were helpful. very cosed to the University.
Great location with a lovely terrace overlooking Maschio Angioino castle. Room was ok with spacious bathroom. Wi-fi signal in our room was weak. Personnel was lovely and full of attention. A special mention to the chef and the food: Napoli is well known for its delicacies and this hotel's kitchen lives to the expectations
A very comfortable hotel and extremely helpful staff. ( My husband needed a dentist urgently on a Saturday morning- after many calls, one was found, taxi arranged and problem solved. Great dentist too! Thanks Mercure ladies) The hotel has a beautiful rooftop bar/breakfast bar overlooking the castle and all the ferry/cruise terminals and it is easy to walk to the main areas of Chiaia and the restaurants on the water's edge. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. This hotel is a short taxi ride from the CBD but the area offers lots to see and do in a less chaotic part of the city. Highly recommended.
Stayed for 3 nights as a couple. Best hotel for the price on offer in Naples away from the station area and near the port. The room was small but the breakfast was excellent - especially the fresh ricotta & buffalo mozzarella! Reception staff were very friendly, efficient & helpful. The view from the breakfast terrace was fabulous Castel Nuovo in front & the port with its cruise ships to the left. The Metro station was a 3 minute walk & the port 5 minutes. Comfortable Walking distance to galleria umberto, piazza plebiscito & castel d'ovo & lungomare.
Reception staff pleasant when we checked in. However, and I am not overly critical, but I feel I've been robbed paying £120 for a night here. The room was tiny and I'm not convinced it was totally clean. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were cheap and scratchy. The bathrooms desperately need updating with black mildew everywhere. I would have not minded paying £60 max. All round uncomfortable and I wouldn't recommend/stay here again.
Booked this hotel as first time in Naples and wanted a known quantity. It was ok but didn't blow me away. The big plus points are the staff are lovely, the location is a couple of mins walk away from a metro station and the buffet breakfast is fab served on the 3rd floor terrace overlooking the castle. Unfortunately there are huge building works going on between the hotel and the castle - Naples equivalent of London Cross Rail! My room overlooked Via A Depretis which is very busy so glad I had earplugs with me as the double-glazing couldn't completely block it. Overall the hotel achieved the goals I had when I booked it but it's not one of the best Mercures I've stayed in.
Wasn’t a good start, the room we were given was dirty, the shower drain was blocked and the TV and safe lock system didn’t work. We were then moved to a second room that was in better order, reception staff very sympathetic and helpful. English TV stations in second room didn’t work and despite telling reception a number of times over our 3night stay, this wasn’t resolved. This isn’t a 4 star hotel, it’s a 3......for eg. paper cups for tea and coffee in the room. Hotel is in a good location, close to most the sites and transport link and harbour. Breakfast was very average, room for improvement, as other reviews halve mentioned. Ok place to stay but wouldn’t go back.
This hotel is very well located so we were on walking distance of a lot of interesting points in the city. The Piazza Municipio is near by where Hop on Hop off service is available. The historical centre is about 10 to 15 minutes walking. The reception staff is very friendly, the room was really nice with excellent beds, and modern bathroom. Breakfast buffet was fine. When in Naples we will book here again
Booked this hotel as wanted 24 hr manned reception due to early morning flight. All reception staff were extremely helpful proving takeaway breakfast, wake up call as requested and arranged for taxi at 4am. Well located for ferry terminal and short walk to historic centre. Room well maintained.
