Hotel Il Convento

My son and I stayed for three nights at the beginning of April. The only glitch on our stay was that having booked a twin bedded room we were presented with a double bedded room on arrival and basically told that unless we wanted to sort it ourselves, by separating the beds, which we did, we would have to wait till the next day for staff to be available to sort it out. To be fair we didn't arrive until quite late in the evening. Otherwise the experience of staying at Il Convento was extremely positive. The rooms were quite adequate, meeting what was on the lid of the tin, and the breakfasts were very comprehensive and tasty with excellent service. As has been described in other reviews, the building is in the old Spanish quarter, is old and interesting and is near to the heart of the city. Although the room overlooked the noisy main street, using the shutters we didn't experience any sleep problems. The reception staff were very helpful in advising on places to eat out. Would definitely recommend for its great value

Stayed in topfloor junior suite on brother's recommendation, and totally satisfied. Large clean comfortable room & ensuite, lovely little private terrace, good working lift. Excellent breakfast with good waiting service. Receptionists all helpful and resourceful.Location perfect for exploring older part of town, near wondrous Toledo metro station, restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping malls, museums etc. Spanish quarter full of interest.

Stayed for 2 nights with my sister, lovely room with lots of facilities, although noisy outside we were supplied with earplugs, so had very good nights sleep, excellant location near to shops and everything else, staff are very friendly and the breakfast selection was excellent, would definately go back even though you have to be very wary of the scooters

We chose this hotel because of its rating on Tripadvisor and because of the location, although first impressions are not the greatest - located just off the Toledo on narrow alley/road where you always have to dodge scooters and cars! Check in was fast and friendly and the receptionist pointed out places of interest on the complimentary map, we headed to the room and one of the first things you notice are the ear plugs in a bowl - never a good sign!!! However in Naples you have to expect the constant noise of scooters and people, we didn't use the ear plugs and slept very well. Breakfast was fairly basic - bread, ham, tomatoes, eggs and cereals etc but fine to start the day. We would stay here again if we go back to Naples.

Hotel Il Convento is a small, very clean hotel with helpful staff on the front desk. Our room wasn't particularly spacious and could have had more hangers and hanging space but was very clean and more than adequate since we spent very little time in it! The hotel's location is great for the metro and onward connections to trains and also within walking distance of the port and ferries to Capri and other mainland destinations on the Amalfi coast. Other guests have commented on external noise but we found that our street facing room wasn't particularly noisy and although the church bells chimed from 7am, we found this added to the hotel's charm! We travelled using public transport to Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Pompeii and Capri and the only mishap was getting a purse stolen on the way to Herculaneum...take extra care in crowded stations. We dedicated one day to walking Naples and would thoroughly recommend a visit to Museo Cappella Sansevero and the marble sculpture of The Veiled Christ.

We had the the junior suite which was very comfortable and the lovely outdoor patio was great for your own little piece of serenity in what is a busy city. The breakfast is simple but ample and the staff are very friendly and have great recommendations for local restaurants. It can be noisy some nights but that is Naples! Would definitely stay here when we visit again

The hotel was very convenient for a stay in Naples. The metro is pretty close and it's easy walking to the Opera House or Spaccannapoli. The breakfast was tasty and the staff will make your choice of coffee. Plenty of restaurants in the area as well. It can be a little loud at night, but that's the tradeoff for being in the middle of the city. Wonderful stay overall.

Small hotel on narrow street just off pedestrian Via Toledo. Very helpful and friendly reception staff will help and advise on seeing Naples and around, and suggest and book local restaurants. Rooms vary in size according to price, two delightful rooms with small private terrace on top floor but no street view. Earplugs supplied but not necessary if you keep double-glazed windows closed. With windows open you get full Neapolitan sound experience - scooters, shouting, dogs barking, church bells. Cakes, croissants, ham, cheese, cereals, scrambled egg on hot plate for breakfast - you can order other egg dishes for a small supplement

I'll admit we were a little nervous about Napoli in general, and furthermore about a hotel "located on an alleyway". There was no need to be at all. This hotel was really nice and the location was perfect. We walked around some other areas of Naples, and this is where i'd want to be. The staff were great. At check-in, they setup a cab for us the next day to get to the airport (at 4:30am). When i told them we were leaving that early they immediately made up a little to go breakfast for us. So sweet. The room was nice and large. The hotel is very unique. I was worried about noise at first, but as soon as i closed the large wooden shutters, it was no problem at all. Wifi wasn't great, but it worked fine. TV had tons of channels, with many in german (and some english, and french). The a/c was fantastic. I was freezing by choice. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The only thing i'll say is set expectations. it's not a 5 star hotel, but it is a great place to stay when visiting naples.

I love to stay at this kind of hotel. Very fashionable furnished with linen maps, original pictures and non-plastic, non-IKEA furnitures. The hotel is situated in one the the typical narrow lanes off Via Toledo, at a walking distance from Naples historic quarter and all the other main attractions. We enjoyed strolling in the nearby lanes that offer small shops and local food restaurants. The only drawback of the hotel is the room size (small!) and the poor WIFI. Don't expect any better network connection in south Italy.
