Colonel Bob’s is a nicely furnished, well-equipped 3 bedroom cottage ideal for a family wishing to be really close to the beach without those high oceanfront rates! South Nags Head is a great location for a true beach vacation! It is completely residential and quiet but many essential amenities are located only a mile north of at Whalebone Junction, including a fine small supermarket, a 7-11 store, a service station, several excellent restaurants and a wide variety of shops at the outlet mall. The spectacular new Jennette's Pier, North Carolina Aquarium is also only a mile north and the popular Outer Banks Fishing Pier a mile south. Bodie Island lighthouse, the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore are only minutes away. A short drive takes you to Roanoke Island and all its attractions including the N.C. Aquarium, Festival Park with its replica of the good ship Elizabeth II, the Lost Colony outdoor drama and Fort Raleigh National Historical Site. South Nags Head features a five mile long multi-purpose super-sidewalk where vacationers can bike, jog, or just walk safely away from traffic. Inside, you’ll find all stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and a comfortable living room. Outside you’ll find a totally private patio with a large hot tub where you can sit and relax or enjoy a cocktail while grilling some burgers. There is also a large covered porch to sit and chat or dive into a good book.

Short walk to beach

Short walk to beach and easy drive to shops. The house was nice, I like to cook so the cookware was above disappointing so we ate out a lot, there wasn’t a single knife that would cut bread. Beds were nice, I’d ditch the futon for a queen but my son didn’t mind. I called about the front door handle being broken and it never got fixed so we used the side door but it didn’t ruin our trip. Also if you want to watch tv on vacation, neither of the 2 tvs worked but luckily I brought my fire stick.

Relaxing and quiet

We enjoyed our stay at Colonel Bob's. There was more than enough room for my husband and I. It was located in a quiet area and quick access to the beach. The hot tub was great and well kept. The cleanliness could have been better. It wasn't filthy, but some detailed cleaning was needed (ex. thick dust on ceiling fans and air vents), and a few minor maintenance things, all which were communicated to the rental agency. Overall we would stay here again and enjoyed our stay.
