Stayed at this hotel for a second time - rooms are spacious and very clean. We had a small outside courtyard with chairs and table, right next to the pool The breakfast served each morning is great and the hotel also arranged a quad rental for us. It’s a short walk down to ornos beach & high up enough away from the crowds and with a nice view Staff are very friendly.
It’s an excellent location. Just 150 meters from the Ornos Beach & also the bus stand. Their Mushroom risotto with truffle oil was to die for. Very friendly staff and extremely helpful. Good vegetarian option for breakfast.
Very nice hotel 5 min walk away from the beach. Staff were very friendly and the receptionist was very friendly and always happy to help. It is a quiet hotel with a pool which is relaxing. Will look to stay here again if we come back. We even had a drink with the manager when we come back one evening who was also friendly. Breakfast was nice
We have stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, we were welcomed with a nice, cold glass of ice tea. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and informative. At check in they have provided us with a map of Mykonos and suggested places to visit and restaurants to eat at. Hotel was very clean, room cleaned daily with fresh towels everyday and a selection of toiletries. Great choice of breakfast each morning and lovely food at the restaurant if you choose to dine in. We arrived by ferry, taxi from the port to the hotel was €20 without pre-booking (same price if you arriving from the airport). If you pre-book the taxi in Mykonos it’s additional €5. Hotel is 2 minutes walk down-hill (or very steep uphill when walking back) from Ornos beach and the bus stop. Buses are very punctual and only take about 15 minutes to get into town (and only about 10 to get back). Bus ticket is €1.80. Ornos beach has a great choice of restaurants/beach bars with lovely sun beds. We’ve spend two days at the beach as it was lush and sun-bed prices very from €10 to €20 per bed for the whole day. The only reason why I didn’t score excellent is because I found the hotel very echoing. I was woken up every day between 8-9 by either other guests talking, opening/closing their door or I could hear the cleaners pushing their trolley and cleaning the rooms.
I stayed at Hotel Essence for 2 nights with my husband. The hotel is beautiful, clean, with nice decor and nice bedding. Of all hotels we stayed in in Greece this one tops all of them when it comes to breakfast. Their breakfast was great and had lots of options. The kitchen stuff did so well replenishing the food and drinks before it ran out. Great service indeed. The reception lady was very friendly and explained about the government tax to us on arrival which we appreciated a lot unlike being told at checkout. We spent a day at the pool relaxing and the pool was very clean. The guy working at the pool bar was very friendly too. The hotel is a few meters walk from the beach and restaurants but they also serve great dinner dishes. We ordered room service and really enjoyed the food. The salad and pasta were great. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is that the WiFi was a bit slow and kept disconnecting in the room but it was good close to the reception and also the room had a bit of a bad smell like some drainage problem. Apart from that everything was super good!
Away from the crowds, good breakfast buffet & friendly, helpful staff. Too chilly to use the pool but must be great in high season. Wonderful, casual Cretian restaurant down the hill. Convenient to bus stop into town.
I stayed at Essence Hotel in May whilst visiting Mykonos for a wedding. The hotel was spotless, comfortable and the service outstanding. The hotel staff can not do enough to make your staff enjoyable. Would highly recommend and the breakfast was 👍
On arrival we were greeted with an iced tea and as it was late the receptionist said she would not keep us from our bed any longer as she could see we were tired. She said to us to go back when it was convenient for any further information. The room was lovely, we had a ground floor room with a balcony with was a sun trap. The pool area is small and clean. There is a fridge and soft drinks in the mini fridge which we would have needed to pay for. The bed was large and freshly made, the cleaners came in every day and fresh towels were provided if needed. The hotel is up a steep hill and it would have been difficult for me to walk up but we had a car and so it was not really a problem. It was not the most pleasant experience when driving in Mykonos but we did it without issues. We were staying at Essence due to attending our daughters wedding on the island and the staff could not have been more helpful. I had offered to babysit my grandson (who was staying at another hotel with his parents) when he got tired and explained this to the reception desk, a lovely lady called Nikki. She said she would ask management and after breakfast (which I will get to in a minute) she came back to us to say that my grandson could stay for the two nights for free, he could come to breakfast and they offered extra shower gel and towels. This was amazing and we thanked her and the management team. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. There is sliced bread, 3 types of honey, Jams, pastries, cereal, tea, coffee, milks, fruit juice, dried fruit, yoghurt, chocolate spread. On the other counter there is always bacon, sausage and eggs which are cooked in different ways. There is hot egg bread and other items in the hot cabinet which I did not try. I started coughing at breakfast and the waitress rushed up to me with water and joked with me saying 'I don't want you to die' which we all laughed at, we laughed even more when I told her I am a nurse. The staff made a great fuss of our grandson and he felt welcome and comfortable. On some of the nights we did not want to go out for a meal and decided to eat in the hotel. They said at reception that they are happy to offer room service for no extra fee and so we ordered Pizza which was huge and cost 10 euros. We did this quite a few times within our stay and the food was well cooked and presented. Special thanks to Nikki, Irene and Maria for being so lovely and making it feel like home from home. To make it even more perfect I would have loved tea making items in the room and signs to tell us what the hot pastries in the restaurant were as a vegetarian like me would not know what was ok to eat or not so I did not try them just incase, otherwise this is a little gem of a hotel. Thank you for a great stay.
On our last night in this small, but lovely hotel. If you like the beach, yes it is a 5 minute walk down a hill and quite a walk up so not good if you have walking problems but this hotel is worth every step. Nothing is too much for the lovely staff here. The reception staff, the waiting staff, barman and the chef you see regularly and the cleaning staff. All top notch. The hotel and rooms are kept scrupulously clean. The safe in the room is free of charge. Mykonus is not a cheap island so don't come expecting it to be cheap but it is one very beautiful place. Ornus as a village I would say is quite upmarket and a bus to town is just €1.80 one way and just a 15 minute bus journey away. The town is bustling and well worth a visit with its tiny alleyways A visit to Little Venice to watch the sunset is a must. It's beautiful
We are currently staying at this amazing hotel once again. Our flight was diverted to Athens due to strong winds on our first night but the amazing Maria and Niki saved is our room for when we finally arrived the following day. I really cannot recommend this hotel enough. We stayed last year also and it is as equally amazing. The staff are so accommodating and helpful. The breakfast is lovely and we have also enjoyed lunch whilst here which has been incredible. Our room as always is beautiful (room 102) thank you Maria for the thoughtful upgrade also. We visit Mykonos every year and we will not hesitate to book back at The Mykonos Essence once again next year. Thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome once again. Now i must return to the amazing pool to top up my tan. See you in 2020 Mykonos Essence team. Natalie & Chris Jones xx
