I stayed one night in this hotel, the single room is very little, but clean, for a short stay is ok. Good breakfast, friendly staff, very good location: quiet at night and in front of a station with many trains from/to the airport and the city centre. Free wi-fi.
Rooms are clean, staff friendly and helpful. Their breakfasts offer a typical variety for a hotel of that class, but coffee is above average for their tier. Location is quite good with convenient commute by city transport. Dining options in the area not great, but drinking option balances this ;-)
compareing to other hotels in europe i stood ( i am already retired and have time ) this is one of the 3 best places i stood ! highly recommended : ask for a appartment to the back side of building - more quite - but if not available , dont worry they have soundproofed windows ;-) the all you can eat buffet breakfast is superb the stuff is extraordinary helpfull and friendly ( special clerk : miss schenk and mister steve ) the location have direct access to the very city centre and the airport ( if possible and if not a business traveller , stay not during fairs or during oktoberfest , a little bit expensive , bu t i have seen already 3 times ... ) at all : HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! ! ! bst rgds from berlin
I was looking for a hotel for two nights during Octoberfest and came across the Hotel Tessin on the munich-hotels.org web site. It was the only property that came up with availability for my two nights at 115 Euros per night . I went to the hotel web site and found the same price. I didn't book it that day, but went back the next day and the price was still the same. I booked the hotel at 115 Euros per night and I received my booking confirmation email and was all set for my two days in Munich. Shortly after I received an email from the property that they were sorry but a mistake was made and they were fully booked and could not honor our reservation. They said the reservation system was updating and it showed availability when there shouldn't have been any. I saw this availability twice, a day apart so it wasn't a few minutes like they said. They directed me back to munich-hotels.org. I went back to that web site and to the hotel website and both sites still had availability for my dates but at 225 Euros a night! Quite a difference to my original booking. When I emailed them about this, they sent back an email stating the availability was now closed. I again went to the hotel website and the only days they are booked for ALL of Octoberfest is the two days I wanted. They obviously felt they could make more money from someone else instead of honoring the rate they confirmed with me. Do not stay at a hotel that has such shady business practices.
It is hotel with great location (on ring around historical part of city). Hotel is clean, nice room, good breakfast...Hotel have own underground garage with elevator to all floor in hotel. Also hotel have room without classic key( electronic lock with password ). It is so easy to go in room and to leave room. In front of entry of hotel is underground train station, but you do not need it because hotel is near of all you must see. Only one negative... for me pillow is so small.
6 days in a triple room. Very clean. On the back side with a balcony. No minibar, but it is a fridge in the reception area. Nice and helpful staff. Simple but enough breakfast: ham, salami, cheese, jam, caprese, croissants, cereals, milk, juices, coffee, tea. Free coffee and tea for customers with breakfast all day long. No reception at night. S-Bahn station Laim 300 m. Aldi Supermarket 500 m. Good location if you want to visit Legoland Günzburg. Change train in Pasing (one stop away from Laim) and then a direct bus from Günzburg train station. Use a Bavaria Landticket.
I booked this hotel based on the somewhat misguided 'search' function of Tripadvisor. I specifically asked for 'Starnberg', which we found out was a 20k drive. I did indeed find out that there are a number of hotels in Starnberg, none of which came up on my search. However...., this budget hotel is much more centrally located on the trunk S-bahn lines that take you into Munich centre is about 10 minutes. It is also located in walking distance of Nymphenburg. The outside of the hotel is only slightly dodgy, some flowers and new signage might help. However, essentially, it's an apartment block with a hotel lodged within. The entrance to the hotel is on the 1st floor, which requires you to go outside on the 'balcony' to enter into the hotel. The reception desk is snuggled in under the internal staircase. The hotel doesn't seem to have that many rooms, perhaps 20? There is a breakfast room near the reception. The hotel also has allocated parking spaces in the garage, which was extremely convenient. We had a triple room which was small, but very clean and comfortable. The en suite was properly tiled and outfitted at a standard that one does not see even at the better chain hotels. The room was modern and had it's own balcony. Admittedly, one could hear the noise from outside, but it wasn't too bad. The hotel supposedly had wifi, but we couldn't get it to work even in the breakfast room. A hairdryer would have been welcome. We were very pleased with the reasonably priced Continental breakfast, more than enough to eat. An assortment of breads, croissants, fruit, tomatoes, boiled eggs, sausages and cheese, yogurts, juice, coffee and tea. One should not expect a 'Full English Breakfast' when in Germany and by German standards, it was quite acceptable. The Christmas decorations were lovely. The staff were all very pleasant, they tidied up our room and were always helpful. Every time we arrived, there was someone different at the reception, this is probably due to the tax category for part-time employment. The hotel is geared towards business travellers, it seemed that most of the other clients were young couples. When needing a hotel near the airport in the future, I'd have no problem staying again. I would prefer it over the Holiday Inn Express at the airport to be sure.
The hotel looks dodgy from the outside, but I wanted a cheap hotel, close to a train station because I had an early flight on the day of departure. The hotel was all it said it would be, cheap but clean. In the end you spend a minimum amount of time in a hotel room, so it was all good.
We arrived late and our names were stuck to the glass door with instructions to collect the keys from the casino next door. We walked right round the building looking for a standard 'hotel' entrance - there isn't one. It's like the entrance to flats/ business block. It's not a great area to start with - we arrived by train and the station smells of urine and is very dark. You then walk through a road tunnel and across busy traffic to get to the hotel. You hear that traffic all night as its a very busy road right outside the window. I'd say it's on a par with uni dorm rooms - very basic with the bare minimum provided. I didn't stay for the breakfast - I left with my hair still wet since the bathroom didn't have a hair dryer and we still paid a lot for the privilege of being kept up all night with the noise of traffic and then the staff in the morning. Staff were torn face as well :-( I won't be back if I can help it. It gets 2 stars for being clean and being a roof over my head for the night. Oh also cost a fortune in a taxi to get back from the city centre at night!
I am a single woman travelling alone so am always careful about location etc. I arrived at Munich airport and got the train to Laim, about 20 minutes. Coming out of the train station the hotel is literally across the road. The hotel is in an office block which is a bit bizarre and caters to business and budget travellers. I arrived early and was allowed to check in which was nice. The room is small (single room) but clean and has everything you need, The wifi works in the room which makes a nice change and the breakfast was lovely, such a huge choice of food. Every member of staff I have met so far has been really nice. If you are looking for luxury and lots of extras don't come here, but if your looking for a clean safe place to rest your head while you explore Munich then this is a perfect place.
