    We had a lovely stay at Hotel Prinz. There were a few disappointments, however. First, we were only given one towel and one duvet cover for 2 people. Unfortunately when I tried to call the front desk, nobody picked up. We were also disappointed by the shower, as it was built in such a way that we were forced to sit uncomfortably with our heads bent down. We were also unable to draw a bath because the water pressure was so low. This was rather disappointing for €200 per night.

    Comfortable hotel and very quiet. Situated in residential area 10-15 minutes walk to nearest railway and underground station - no shops or restaurants nearby. I was a bit puzzled that my large room appeared to have no air conditioning or heating. On the first night the room was very hot but ok the second night when I opened the large sliding window. I was a single occupant of a double room but the bed only had a light single duvet. Being 6’2” I didn’t feel very snug under the covers. It would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room especially as being a smallish hotel there was no room service menu. I was a bit taken back that having decided to take breakfast in the hotel on the second morning of my stay I was charged €17 for just a fairly limited choice from the cold buffet - I may have been mistaken but I didn’t even see a toaster. I know that Munich has a reputation as being an expensive city but I didn’t think that the Hotel Prinz offered very good value as it was no better than what I would expect from a U.K. budget hotel for less than half the cost.

    We arrived early for the hotel and they were very accommodating and let us in early. For us a hotel is just somewhere to sleep at night. However, The room itself was very basic, we had enquired about upgrading but all were fully booked however I'm unsure if the upgraded rooms had much more but size difference. No tea or coffee making facilities, small tv, plenty of plugs. En suite bathroom. No safe. Bed was comfortable. On our 2nd night of 3, when we returned to the hotel to head up to our room on the 3rd floor we got in the elevator as per normal and as the elevator went up, it dropped and then dropped again, then the doors opened and we were stuck between floors. We buzzed the alarm on the elevator for a good few minutes and with no response contacted the hotel by phone. A very panicked receptionist did not seem to be able to answer what had happened and was confused but said we would be out in a few minutes. 5 minutes later I called back and he said he would be turning the elevator off and on again, this rest brought us to the floor and after pushing a few buttons the door opened. We were offered no apology or compensation almost as though this was a normal thing to happen. Needless to say for the rest of the trip we used the stairs. Walking distance to town is approximately 20 minutes, there is a train station about 12 minute walk away that takes you straight to the Marienplatz but the walk is easy enough and just at an acceptable distance.

    I appreciated the location and rental bikes that were available on this property. The room was clean, well arranged and comfortable. Usually in hotels, there are coffee makers or kettles for tea, this property didn't supply either. There was coffee in the restaurant if one wanted. The room did come with a flat-screen TV, but it was only 18" big, which is substandard compared to other hotels I've stayed in. I mentioned to the staff that it was our anniversary. In most hotels, there's an offer of upgrade, breakfast, champagne, deals or something. Instead I was instructed that in Munich, nothing's free. All that aside, I did enjoy the room and especially the bike rentals which are a huge bonus, even if they are a bit costly. I would recommend this property to friends, but I would warn them that at this hotel, only cash is king, not the customer.

    The room seemed a bit expensive for what it was, but it was Oktoberfest so that is to be expected. The location was nice, but more residential. The room itself was clean, nothing wrong with it, but it didn't really stand out. I would say it was a normal hotel room in a normal hotel. If the location works for you and the price is reasonable I wouldn't hesitate.

    The hotel is slightly away from the overall hustle and bustle of Munich, however the public transportation is a great way to get around. The rooms are small, but very clean and modern. The bar is open all the time, so if you need a nightcap, it is available. Staff is very friendly, too.
