I'm spending a few nights at Golden Leaf, the staff is very polite and I just love the room (the frigobar selection is good!). There's a restaurant next to the reception, they have traditional food, beers and even wine.
Our hotel room was clean, well equipped, and spacious. It's a bit of a walk into the center of Munich but there's a tram stop nearby and the walk really isn't too bad. Overall I was satisfied with the value I got for the hotel. The service itself was exceptional. We dropped our bags off at the front desk since we arrived before check-in. When we returned later the man behind the desk had already taken our luggage up to the room for us. The staff also arranged for a taxi to get us to the airport super early on New Years day, which was a huge weight off our minds.
Stayed three nights this DEceember weekend just gone for visting friends Christmas markets - booked and paid a while ago in advance, it was really good value. Hotel is clean, quiet and very convenient for the city centre. I had a room away from the road side, which was quiet. If you are looking for down to earth excellent value for money, I'd recommend this palce
Good location to this hotel, stayed with friends, reasonably priced hotel, service is ok, struggled to get in when returning from a night out! No frills hotel ideal for a city break with a short walk to Marienplatz
2 night stay. Returned on 2nd night to find that cleaner has thrown out washbag including toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, foam, hairbrush etc. Nothing else missing so looking like a genuine mistake but what a royal pain. Reception knows nothing about ithe and I have an early flight in the morning. oh well...
Upon our arrival at this hotel , we were warmly greeted by renatta , who then gave us the best room in the hotel , in my opinion ! . The room was spacious , lovely and clean and had both a shower and bath , so that kept my wife happy ! . the hotel is situated just 15 minutes walk from the city centre , so its ideally the one to book ! . the food in the hotel was the best we have ever had in Germany ! , and for those of a vegetarian nature , you are well catered for , it was great to go exploring around the hotel grounds and to see all the Bavarian houses decked out in beautiful flowers and it made our stay at the golden leaf hotel altmunchen all the better ! . So if you have a notion to travel to Munich , please give this fantastic hotel a visit , it was worth double the money for the privilege of staying here ! . We would both like to thank the following members of staff for all their help ! . Sacha , Renatte , Lukas , and the maids , and the brother and sister in the hotel restaurant , and the chef . Every single one of you made our holiday the best we have had in years ! . Danke sehr fur alles ! . sprecht sonst ! .
We have stayed at this hotel several times before. This time we stayed here for 5 nights on this trip. We were always happy with the Hotel but on recent trips the restaurant (Mulbacher) had gone down in food and standard of service. This time it was far better, the food and choice had improved a lot and the staff were friendly and efficient. The only downside is that it is now very busy and you need to book.
Well-located, near to river and Deutsches Museum. Friendly staff. Late check-out allowed without a problem. Great to have complimentary tea/coffee available in lobby. Good free wi-fi throughout. Restaurant can get quite busy.
Mixed feelings because, reading at the various reviews of this hotel, I am both satisfied and disappointed. Satisfied as the location is not bad. It's like most of the other reviews had mentioned. And the staff are friendly and speak very good English. There's now free wifi throughout the hotel as well. Disappointed cos, even though I am staying for 17 nights, I was given a small room with a 1m x 1m size shower cubicle whilst reading of having a bathtub in other reviews. Breakfast is just so-so with very limited items. And yes, there's still no English TV channels. Recommendations: If you are not staying for long periods of time, it's OK. If you are staying for longer periods, you might want to consider other hotels although I am basing on the small room and tiny shower cubicle I'm staying in.
The Golden Leaf is not a corporate style hotel, it is more characterful. I stayed in room 104, just above the reception. on the 1st floor. The room was aa nice large size with a good bathroom and shower. Everything was clean, and the bed was comfortable. If you get a room like this one which faces the main road you may hear Traffic and be bothered by noisy maintenance vehiclaes in the very early morning, but this is not the hotel's fault. Breakfast is available at a reasonable price which is a good selection, mostly cold bread meat and cheese, plus fruits and cereals - however hot fried eggs are available to order... except that no staff seem to be in attendance in the breakfast room, so these are difficult to obtain! I found the lighting in my room very dark so in the evening after daylight has faded, you can hardly see anything. There are no TV channels in English, but again, this is really my own problem, because I do not speak German. All the staff I met spoke English well. There is free wifi, which the instructions say is only available in the lobby - but in room 104 I could access it freely all the time, so either the hotel has now provided it throughout every room, or else room 104 is so close to reception that the signal can be picked up! With such dim lights and no TV, I really needed this wifi in the room, so that was good for me. The hotel is fairly well located for the city central area, although it's not right in the middle, and the staff are friendly.
