A&O München Hackerbrücke2.0 out of 5.0

Staff were very friendly and helpful, however, only one on desk covering check in and bar. Considering we had to go back 10 times in the first 24 hrs to get our door fixed (no exaggeration- not caused by our phones/credit cards) this was extremely frustrating for us and other guests!
The A&O Hotel Hackerbrücke is a real budget hote with late ight check-in and still sells beer and stuff you need late night. It is situated walking distance from SBahn but not convieniently located and a little noisy.
I travelled with 5 of my friends and booked the A&O hostel online. The price was very affordable and the dorm was clean and the beds were good. The linen and bed spreads were neat as well.Perfekt room for us as we were exactly 6 friends and had a great time staying here. Pleasant stay in all.Neat, clean and affordable.Centrally located.
Ok so first I want to say if you are looking for a cheap place to stay in Munich then this is it, however price needs to be you main driver for choosing a place to stay and everything else means nothing. This hostel is in an excellent location with a tram stop 1 minute walk from the front door. Now if you think this is a normal hostel where you will meet travelers and hang out, forget it. This is a workers cheap residence. I am a male so can only really comment on the male dorms and not the all female or family rooms. The majority of males staying here are typical low class 3rd world stereotypes, with bad education and filthy habits, it seems they cannot even find the trash can even if it is 2 feet from their beds. The rooms are a pig sty, I highly recommend you bring a trash bag and gloves and spend 10 minutes throwing out all the garbage in to the bag and then into the main corridor (that's what I did) this way it gets picked up. If you leave garbage in the room that is where it will stay! Now I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and although there seems to be a lot of reviews saying the beds are creaky I didn't find this at all. Once everyone is in bed the noise is no different then any other hostel, you have your snore's so always bring ear plugs. The rooms have lockers so you can store your stuff and nothing went missing from the room. There is also a luggage storage if you get here early or check out and want to come back for your luggage later. I stayed for a week, so I am either Mr. Miser or a sadist, I did book out one day early and went to the Hilton and payed with some points I had, but that is another story!! Positives, good location, no bed bugs, Cheap.
My room, the bed coats and the walls were dirty. The environment is not so good, I did not like it. There were some strange people apparently under drugs. It has cheap prices but it is not worth it. The only good thing is the location, really close to Hackerbrucke. I would only recommend it for a single day stay and if you need to take a train really early in the morning.
We had a good stay at this hostel. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm, the beds were comfortable and in an easy location, a one minute tram ride right outside the hostel to the train station. We were a bit annoyed we had to pay extra for linen, as we thought that should just be part of what the hostel offers. We wanted to use the kitchen to cook but it was in bad condition we could only barely eat our toast there.
I arrived the first night and was immediately hit by the hall of the hostel. It was full of people that looked like they were tramps or weirdos of some sort, often holding their can of beer I then realized that they would often hang around the place. I wonder if they are long-stay guests or simply people from the street. I stayed in line for a quarter of an hour more or less, as only a couple of people from the staff were taking care of quite a lot of customers. I then moved into my dorm and quickly realized how small it was. I had to live my luggage in there, as the only luggage room was actually accessible to all the guests of that gigantic place. I left all my bags in a corner of the room, which was luckily unoccupied at the time. After noticing a small locker for my valuables, I went down again to the reception to ask for a lock. They looked for it but they had no more left (apart from one with the key locked by the very lock!), but they assured me they would have one the folloying day, as the place was very crowded for that night in particular. There is no fridge nor kitchen for guests, so I ate out most of the time. The only place where you can sit iin the dorm is a chair with a small shelf in front of it, which is supposed to do it for all the 6 people that are almost always crowding the room. I was very happy to leave the place.
Me and my friends chose this hostel due to the location, and for that it was perfect! But the check in was really slow and with full of mistakes (people asked us to check in twice because the first person didn't save our files). The rooms are really small (we stayed in a 8 people room), only had 2 electric outlets for everyone; you have to pay for the bed linen and sheets (which smelled really bad) and there's no security at all (we had a guy sleeping in our dorm that left before 10pm, and then came in the middle of the of the night, super drunk with two other guys that we never saw before.
I'm being pretty generous with 3 stars, this place probably only deserves 2. It's very basic and wasn't the cleanest, but I stayed here during my Oktoberfest visit, so I wasn't here very often and the beds were clean and comfy enough. Was pretty cheap (compared to prices online of other places during Oktoberfest) and if you're just looking for a place to crash during Oktoberfest, I'd recommend this place, seeing how close it is to the grounds. Also, the free wifi worked pretty well!
First of all the check in works incredibly slowly and makes few mistakes. We checked in earlier and when we went to get the keys later they had not registered us in and we had to resolve the issue for at least 20 minutes, at least we got the sheets for free because of the trouble. They had luggage room where we could leave our stuff before getting our keys. When we arrived to the room there was not enough beds empty and we had to clean so stuff up from the beds, otherwise rooms were decently clean and beds were comfortable enough to spend the nights. Room was bit on a small side for 8 people and lack of electric outlets was really annoying since the room only had 2 outlets and other one of those was in the bathroom. Biggest negative thing is that people living here are really shady. First of all one person was sleeping in the room when we arrived but left almost instantly only to come-back 2 days later and steal my blanket and sheets. Another dodgy situation happened in our first night in the room when some old man just walked in the room at 3am and walked around the room to only to wake my friend up and say to him that he took the old man's spot. After that the old man just walked out and we never saw him again, he even left some of his stuff in the room without picking them up during the 4 days we stayed there. Also people in the lobby seem to be bit sketchy, but that's just based on the appearance of them. Another thing is thay WIFI is not working properly, sometimes the network is not even visible and some times it just doesn't work or is extremely slow. Location of the hostel is good, 10-15 minutes walk from the main station and 20-25 minutes from centrum. Also tram line goes past the hostel which makes it easy to go to city center. Also the hostel was quiet and we had no trouble sleeping. Next time I would pay a little more to go to some other hostel but if you want the cheapest one and real slim shady experience this is your place. I would not recommend this place but if budget is your only concern go to this hostel.
