the half board was poorly explained and poorly executed. additionally it was unclear when booking that a second adult in smae room was subject to an additional charge. in 30 years of travel 5 total weeks of travel in India over 2 years I've never seen such a thing. the half board was supposed to be 2 meals a day one of which was breakfast. period. instead it resulted in being a 2000 INR credit per person for the nob-breakfast meal. There was never an explanation at the property restaurants about this policy nor was an alternate menu, etc. offered. Bottom line is that I felt this was the worst 5 star hotel I've stayed at in India and those hotels include: Oberoi Jaipur, Taj Delhi, Leela Delhi, Taj Bangalore, Leela Goa, Ritz Carlton Bangalore. Look elsewhere in Mumbai for a 5 star experience.
Amazing hotel ... Drinks and wine and super expensive
Upon checking in, I was upgraded from the tower to a palace club room. The view in the room overlooked a side street. The best thing about my stay was the way I was treated by the staff. I’ve stayed in several palaces in the Middle East and the Taj Mahal Palace just triumphs all other hotels I’ve stayed in. The service here was outstanding. Every single staff member greeted me everyday, even if they were in the midst of doing something of going somewhere. These people really try hard to make your stay amazing. On my last night, I was treated to a Maharaja Bath by the Housekeeping Manager. My room didn’t have a bath tub so they were able to arrange for it in a different room. I just cannot say enough good things about the staff and the gorgeous property— it just surpassed any hotel stay I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this palace :)
My teenaged daughter and I spent five nights at the Taj and loved every minute of it. If and when I return to Mumbai I will stay here. Highly recommended for location and luxury.
I wanted to experience the history and aura of the Tajj but resisred spending an additional $100;for a Palace room. Glad. I did! Pool are common to both buildings. Had a magnifcent sea view instad of a “backroom” at the Palace., unless money is no object, save the extra money and buy a great dinner, or better yet, tip the staff edtra well. The hospitality is nothing short of perfect!
I have stayed here in the past. I was not offered a room in the nice old original section. Instead I was put in a room in the newer tower. Not bad but not like the original. The part that was not good was the construction that was occurring on a floor above me from 10am to 10pm. All the staff could do was apologize and aske to move us.
