Excellent hotel on the Plaza in Morelia. Great staff, resturant and bar. Very nice suites, comfortable beds, good wifi too. Ask to see the other suites, all have their own appeal. Very walkable area and beautiful colonial building all around.

We are at the airport reluctantly leaving Morelia and the excellent Cantera Diez Boutique Hotel. We have been their pampered guests for five nights and have enjoyed every minute of it. It is positioned right opposite the Cathederal and park and is part of the portales area of covered walkways and restaurant after restaurant. As a tourist, this is the place to be, also for the locals, judging by the people eating and drinking in style thereabouts. We particularly thank manager Alberto and receptionist Miriam, who were very, very patient with me while I was attempting to print out my boarding passes. I am a Luddite, unable to perform the simplest of tasks on the computer. Also, thank you Victor and Rosy in the restaurant for your patience serving two non Spanish speakers. I throughly recommend this Hotel to anyone who may take the time to read this review.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the location is great, but on 2 separate occasions our hair dryer went missing and we had to ask for one. The second time there were none available. Not sure how a hotel this expensive runs out of hair dryers. Also, we stayed for 5 nights and randomly only had turn-down service once (not that we need it, but it was just weird that it happened once at random). The breakfast is great.

We stayed recently for 3 nights with two children in room 104. It has two beds. The hotel is beautifully deocrated. I really liked the sitting area outside the rooms on the 1st floor. They leave coffee and tea in the mornings and water in the afternoon . Its a great place to have an evening drink. The food in the restaurant is amazing. Try the tacos patzcuaro. We had a good experience with the waiters. The hotel is centrally located. The room is huge. The hotel organised a very good babysitter. On Sundays they close the main street so we hired pushbikes for the kids which was a lot of fun. I thought it was a nice touch of the reception girl to give us waters when we were leaving. The valet service for car parking is also very good. The internet is free but I couldnt get it to work inside our room. However, I only had to walk to the sitting area just outside our room to get wi fi. I didn¨t find the beds comfortable and even with the ear plugs I found it hard to sleep with the noise of the cathedral. I found that the airconditioning did not make it to the sleeping area so it was quite hot at night. Maybe a fan or another airconditioning unit in the room would help. The toilet was difficult to flush. I was disappointed with the roof top garden - I imagined something bigger. A nice hotel but to be a great hotel I think it needs a health club or small pool or spa.

We booked room 10, and it was unbelievably beautiful, and the views of the Cathedral were breathtaking. I really can't say enough good things about the staff, friendly, and accommodating in every way possible. The hotel is in as good of a location as you can get. If you stay here you will not be disappointed. It truly is a fantastic property.

The Hotel has the most welcoming staff I had ever encountered on my trip thru Central Mexico. The room was large, spacious and super comfortable. Clearly a classic colonial old world vibe and across the street from the main city Plaza and that Gorgeous Cathedral. Your smack dab on the "calle real" within the Portales zone. Restaurant options are many and near by; the hotel Bar had great smaller food fare options and some nice wine offerings. I can't sing the praises of the staff enough, especially Gustavo at the front desk who helped me out with check in/out. Would love to come back here in the future.

I loved this hotel! It was simply the perfect place to stay and visit the beautiful Morelia! The rooms are amazing: not only they are really spacious, but also furnished with taste and with so many interesting gadgets! There was a docking station for the iPod (which I really enjoyed), perfect Wi-Fi, a very relaxing bathtub, comfortable slippers, a very comfortable bed, a good choice of amenities in the bathroom... It was perfect! I also really enjoyed room service, and the staff was fantastic and very helpful! (muchas gracias! :-) ) I will definitely stay here again if I come back to Morelia!

I stayed at Cantera Diez Boutique Hotel for a weekend and it was an amazing experience. The hotel staff were incredible. Plus everyone spoke English. I would say they were the friendliest, most helpful staff I have ever encountered in all of my travels. It was a really nice feeling to know the staff were happy to help with any problem or needs. We had problems making calls to family and they worked it out and got us connected every time. The room we stayed in was lovely! very modern. All of the interior design was top notch. The bath tub was fantastic! There were fresh flowers in the room and chocolates on the pillow at night. There was coffee in the morning and agua fresca in the afternoon. The room had a huge patio that looked over the main street and Cathedral. On Saturday night I watch the fireworks in front of the Cathedral from the patio. On sunday morning there was Zumba in the street directly in front of the hotel and we joined in on the patio and got a little exercise. Also note that the main street is closed on Sunday morning so people can bike ride AND the hotel has 2 bikes available if you would like to join in. As far as I am concerned, this is THE place to relax and enjoy a visit to Morelia!

Cantera Diez is a luxury boutique hotel on the main avenue in Morelia, directly across from the Cathedral (Catedral de Morelia). The building is only three to four stories tall; there are ten rooms, all on the top, open floor. The rooms are modern and well furnished. Our room (10) had a king size bed and a balcony facing the Cathedral. There are lounges and tables on the balcony so you can enjoy the view. Each morning and evening the hotel staff put fresh coffee, tea and cookies on a table in the courtyard. The hotel set up a special arrangement in the courtyard for another couple staying at the hotel. We had our choice of Mexican breakfast or eggs prepared the way we wanted them, with fresh fruit, juices, coffee and pastries. Downtown Morelia is lovely with lots of shops, restaurants and sights. Cantera Diez was right in the middle of the beauty and action. The staff was very welcoming. One person, Antonio was particularly helpful; he lived in Chicago and his English was perfect. Antonio went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. I am sure that the hotel welcomes families, but frankly this hotel seems more appropriate for couples.

I can’t help but echo past comments on this place. It is simply stunning. The rooms are quite large and spacious, the bathrooms are amazing. Even if you get one of the interior rooms, they are very quiet and they open to a spectacular common area. The entire building is an architectural masterpiece worth wandering around. The patio provides a great view of the city (word of warning, you will be sharing the patio with smokers). In the morning coffee can be had while gazing at the cathedral. The staff is quite helpful and friendly, for example, they booked a car for me in less than an hour after my arrival. The restaurant is quite good. Centrally located near the old quarters of the city (a world heritage site), you won’t need a taxi to visit the popular tourism places.
