Great value hotel which is fantastic on the inside. The exterior could be improved and unfortunately the area is very run down. Breakfast was good and I would recommend it for a short stay. The pool was closed which was a little disappointing. Several restaurants nearby which was great. The staff were very friendly & helpful.
We were having severe difficulties with exceptional snow which closed the A8 & A9, but by phoning around we found perhaps the last free room for a night in the whole town. Novotel gave us a good welcome, and a room. Parking (and driving) was a major problem but we ended up just by the front door and did not have to pay. Our room was comfortable and quiet, but it did smell of a previous smoker. Management tried to fix this with a perfumed spray - it would be better to fix sensitive smoke alarms and evict those breaking the house rules. Not the cheapest, but it saved our lives!
We he had training and were impressed by the professional staff (all departments). Service crew and kitchen was perfect. Outside the hotel they could do a little better. Have to take one point away due to a training room in the cellar and a misunderstanding with the sales department what they could have handled better.
The hotel was very convenient for an early morning flight from Montpellier airport. I had done advanced check in and everything was ready. Room and bathroom were clean and in reasonable repair. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with good food and friendly service. Only disappointment was the express check out which I was told I had not organised. The envelope I received on check in said I had!
Stopped one night, in fairness didn't want to look around for a hotel after a days travelling so went for higher end price, but what I thought was reasonable 99euros, but once you add on the breakfast and overnight parking it creeps up to quite a lot. The room is fine, but looking tired. Wifi is good and free.
This is the second time we have stayed here whilst driving between the UK & Spain. It's an ideal location just off the coast motorway with good accommodation. Beds are good, breakfast is all you could want and the staff are friendly. Also the car park is free and secure which is a bonus.
Having been rudely treated at the Courtyard Marriott because they could not deliver a promised room with twin beds, we came to this place late at night and thoroughly out of sorts. We were welcomed, presented with excellent hot frites as a gift at the bar with drinks, and then we fell into the super-comfortable upgraded beds. Swam in the very good pool the next day--it is big and deep--and enjoyed a superb breakfast, with real baguettes (not always the case in modest French hotels) and fresh eggs and plenty of choices. I am a big fan of the Accor hotel chain, from Ibis Budget on up. This hotel could stand some refurbishment, it is true--the carpets need to be replaced and some general sprucing up would be good. But it is excellent value with a very hospitable staff. I am also deeply offended by the comments of a reviewer above about a disabled staff member who works here. I am proud of this Novotel for their employment practices, and I utterly condemn the attitude of someone who finds it necessary to complain about this staff member's English skills--HERE, IN A FRENCH HOTEL! If you are looking for comfortable, modest accommodation in Montpellier--free parking!--you can't do better than this.
The room was dismal and in need of refurbishment. There was a musty smell. The space between the bed and the wall was extremely narrow. It was dismal and the picture on the wall was inappropriate. Room was quiet but noise from other guests did intrude.
My main criticism of this hotel, is the paucity of English language TV channels. The only English language channel was CNN International. I would have liked the availability of CNBC, BBC World, Sky News, France 24 (English) and Al Jazzera (English). This is the only thing that might put me off coming here again. The restaurant was excellent. There were however 2 instances in the 5 days that I used the restaurant, when I felt that I was waiting a bit too long for attention, during which time, a waiter came to serve an adjacent table, and then attempted to depart without serving me, and I had to make my presence known. The hotel has its own car park. There was no charge for parking, but at the time of my visit, it was very full every night. Some inconsiderate customers parked badly, making the adjacent bay unusable. I felt that there was an excessive number of invalid bays. Of course, when the car park was full, they got used, but they are oversized. 2 invalid bays take up as much space as 3 regular bays. The hotel is on a narrow access road. At the time of my visit, there was work under way on underground services, which caused some disruption. In addition, the access road opens onto a junction which is controlled by traffic lights. These lights are heavily prioritised AGAINST the hotel's access road. The lights go green for about 15 or 20 seconds, then there is a wait of about 3 minutes before the next green. This means that exiting by car at times of heavy traffic can be problematic.
Stayed at the hotel for 1 night on route to Spain. The best thing about the hotel is the location close to the highway and the pool & garden. Rooms are very basic and the beds of so so quality. Staff is very unprofessional and don't answer adequately on questions. Employing a disable person is very nobel of this hotel, but this person speaks English very bad, doesn't deliver on promising and is very rude in approaching. Maybe better to employ this person not behind the desk or so. Hotel is not at Novotel standards, more like Ibis or at best Mercure. Probably won't stay here again.
