Nice Location

The cental location of the hotel was the best part. Within walking distance of the train station, old town, the casino and beaches. The breakfast was nice but minimal with bread, coffee and juice. The server was very friendly. Our room was spacious and clean. Although minimal, we only had a couple negative comments. The hotel has outdoor lighting which made our room very bright at night even with the shades closed and the front desk attendant was not able to give us a couple extra coffee pods for our room.

No parking was available at the hotel. We had to find parking anywhere on the street and carry heavy luggage. No breakfast, except a pastry and coffee. No coffee in the room. The hotel needs major update. The blankets very bad quality.

This is a grand hotel from another era, it is just beautiful. The rooms are very large, the bed was good and it was quiet. Love this hotel. It is also close to the train station so you can either walk there or take a taxi. The hotel is close to everything, town, casino and shop. The staff were very friendly, Rossana was very nice and also tried to accomodate us. Thank you all. Martine Woodard

The hotel might have been nice back in the 1865 when he was constructed. The room are now outdated and too old. For exemple you can't even have a proper double bed. Either 2 single, or 2 singles next to each others has a fake 'king size' bed. The wifi wasn't working, and the ammenties in the room were disappointing. Like the boiler and no coffee machine, and the picnic table in the room. For the price, the hotel was really disappointing. We left after the first night instead of spending the 2 other nights.

Classy, 'Belle Epoque' hotel in excellent position

This hotel was excellent, the impressive frontage is grand and yet welcoming. It is just 5 minutes walk from the train station - regular services to Cote D'Azure towns - Monaco Monte Carlo 10 minutes away, Nice, Cannes and Antibes are also along the line. Menton beach, the old town and a host of restaurants are all within 5 minutes walk as well. The staff are fabulous, multi-lingual and extremely helpful, they know you by name and could not be nicer. It is delightfully furnished with antiques in a traditional style but has been well refurbished and maintained with modern facilities like a lift and wifi. We were offered complimentary continental breakfast on arrival even though we had a room only booking and it saved us a lot of money as a consequence over the 10 nights we stayed. The coffee and croissants were amazing, but there was always an assortment of fruits, pastries, cereal, fresh bread, etc regularly topped up throughout. The room we stayed in was on the top floor with a lovely view out onto the old town and it was very spacious and well appointed with antique furniture, polished wooden floor, tons of storage and lovely marble bathroom. The bathroom was in excellent condition, we had a bath with hand held shower and it had a partitioned toilet and bidet. The air-con is simply the best - SILENT - and beautifully cold to ensure great sleep. The hotel is ideal for those who love the beach, walking the old town alleys and travelling to other resorts with ease.

Everyone who works at this hotel is very friendly. The problem is this is not a 5 or even 3 star property. There is no restaurant, no bar, not much of anything to give it the stars it's advertised with. The rooms are nice size but leaving old soaps and used hair wash containers from prior guests is no bueno in my book. It could use some upgrading and our bed spread had hair on it from a prior guest that we removed from our bed. The mini bar had water so should not really even be considered a mini bar and even an old un wrapped tea bag was left out on top. It's in a nice location and although not horrible it wasn't grand on any level.

A lovely place to stay!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff at the hotel were fantastic; they came across as genuinely friendly and were extremely helpful whenever we had questions. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with the much-needed air conditioning working well, and it was in keeping with the hotel's pleasingly unique style. The breakfast was always a welcome start to the day - we particularly enjoyed sitting in the patio area in the mornings. The hotel's location is set apart from the busiest areas but everywhere we wanted to explore was within easy walking distance. Very close to both the train and bus stations. The only real negative point we have is the very patchy wifi connection, which was only available to us in the communal areas - for many people this wouldn't be a problem but in today's connected age a lot of people might find this frustrating. We should also point out that, although breakfast is served in the hotel, there is not a restaurant or bar area available but again, as it is so close to the main streets in Menton this would not be a problem for many people. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and we are really glad that we chose this hotel for our trip.
