The staff overall is helpful and friendly. That said, we had a gas leak in our minibar. We thought it was ammonia used for cleaning but it was for refrigeration, is 99.9% put ammonia and is deadly. The room smelled very much from it, the staff had cleaned it that day but not reacted to the leak. When we got back from a tour of the city, it was thick in the room. We tried airing out the room. Still thinking it was from cleaning, but we were going to try to air it out, or else would have to ask for a different room. A staff person stuck their head in the door as it was open, asked and we told them we were airing the room because of the smell. They did nothing, just nodded. Later on we were in the lounge (which wasn't serving) and I went up to the room to get a beer out of the mini bar, it smelled worse when I got in the room, I noted we would have to ask to be moved, opened the mini bar and was immediately hit in the face with a cloud of ammonia that had gathered in the minibar chamber. I stopped being able to breathe. Immidiately shut the door of the minibar, eyes burning, nose burning, not breathing I made it to the sink in the bathroom, splashed water, still not able to breathe. I thought I was going to die in that room. After a while a tiny little bit of breath happened, I got out to the hallway and slowly was starting to be able to breathe again. Then a rush of coughing, mixed with incredible amount of burping, eyes watering. This also lasted around five to ten minutes. Made my way down and got the young man at the desk who looked horrified at my condition, we went up. He mentioned they did not use ammonia in cleaning and that was when I realized it was the mini bar. I stayed outside, thy confirmed it was a leak in the fridge. I asked them to call a doctor and hear what damage I might have, he told me the doctor said an ambulance didn't have equipment for this, but if I wanted I could go to the hospital. I was in shock and declined. That was dumb of me, I read on the net that damage happens fast, and there is no antidote or cure. I believe the hotel should have called both ambulance and fire dept. right away with an ammonia gas leak (anhydrous ammonia). I demanded they fill out an accident form. Was told we could, but the form "wasn't there" the manager would contact me the next day. Next day (I wrote up what happened and gave it to the manager) I don't hear from him, wait until around 10 or later, go looking for him. I give him the account. He tells me they have talked to the manufacturer of the minibar, it was "only" ammonia gas...a deadly gas. They should have had routine that if staff smells ammonia to alert the desk and clear the room. I believe they wanted to avoid making a big deal out of this. Later I was emailed by the manager an offer of 100 euros for "compensation". I declined, because I did not know what extent I had been damaged. Wanted to go to my doctor when I got home. It seems no provable long term damage, but I have not felt ok since. I was thinking I was going to die in that room. It ruined our trip, and again, the incredibly low offer of compensation, after subjecting a guest to a deadly gas, seemed ridiculously callous to me. So just be aware of the treatment you can expect if it happens to you, and if you ever smell ammonia in a room, get out of there and ask the hotel to check. The staff was helpful. The manager, I had to ask several times in email to get the name and model of the minibar. Also he was agitated when I complained to him, there never was a "accident report" filled out in front of me or with my input. His offer was insulting. For what I went through, it wasn't even one whole night would be a modest meal in Milan. I have tried contacting best western head office, a local lawyer asking about compensation. Their position seems to be "hey it happened, no lasting damage" so 100 euro is enough they seem to think.

Hotel central to shopping area, metro round the corner. Hotel amenities excellent; Reception very accommodating and breakfast abundant. Room well cleaned and tidy. Movement from adjacent or overhead room might be disturbing if light sleeper. Our room shower cubicle very small. However will recommend the Best Western.

small but nice rooms which have all what you need but nothing extra, for that price was ok I can recommend to stay here if you do not expect too much just bed and bathroom. Perfect localization just 10 minutes from old city

it was a meaningful and enjoyable stay in this hotel! not far from any touristic sights in Milan. the staff are friendly and ready to assist to the clients. the breakfast offered is excellent! thank you for the great accomodation!

On the plus side, like many Best Westerns, this hotel has not been given a homogenising make-over, so many of the mid-century features remain, particularly in the lounge and breakfast room areas, and in the lighting throughout. The door staff and the maids are friendly, and the place was clean. However, the rooms are quite small and cramped, and they only provide polystyrene cups and plastic glasses in the room - we smuggled cups and glasses out of the breakfast area, but polystyrene simply isn't acceptable. The thing that really let it down, however, was the breakfasts. The food was dull and tasteless, very little was fresh, and if it was fresh, it was probably off (see the photo of the bananas!) Worse than that, though, it was really poorly organised - for instance, when the coffee and hot water urns ran out one day, the waitress, rather than refilling them, made all the coffee and tea individually in the kitchen, leaving tables uncleared and a queue forming. Some of the breakfast room staff were really rude to customers - a couple who arrived at 9.55 were told "We're locking the doors in 5 minutes, so you'd better grab what you can". So although this place is reasonably priced, and in a reasonable location, I really wouldn't recommend it.

The best Western Hotel is located in a very good area in Milan which has access to Central station and also city Center . The staff are so friendly and they try to hell you as much as they can. The room is quite ,clean and comfortable!

Certainly not a luxury hotel but the staff is most helpful, the rooms comfortable and clean. Best location. 15 minutes walk to Central Station,20 to Dommo or two minutes to metro station.Certainly recommended.

We stayed at Best western during a recent business trip. The location is just great with it being just next to the metro station and all key landmarks of the city, easily accessible. The rooms are very small although. The breakfast is all right, a small bar inside the hotel is an added bonus. The hotel per se is small. You can however explore some nearby eateries which are really good. However, at that price point , I am sure there would be better options available.

Location was great, staff were very helpful and the room was clean. The breakfast offering was some fruit, 3 different cakes, some pastries, cereal, yoghurt, cheese, cold meats, bread, etc. They also had beans, sausage (not the UK type), hard boiled and scrambled eggs and bacon (streaky). It was a good selection. There were pretty strong smells around the hotel sometimes - either strong cleaning products or drains. I'm guessing they are trying to fight a drain issue when I stayed.

We stayed at this hotel for just one night. The hotel is a small little hotel with small rooms. It is not too far away from the tourist areas of Milan or from the central station which can be accessed through the metro or the trams. Pros: Decent location Very good breakfast Clean rooms Cons: Very small rooms Small hotel (not expected from a Best Western brand) Unenthusiastic staff Overall, decent value for money.
