For Room 5 - the tub stopper did not work. We could not find the Roku remote for the TV until we were ready to leave. It was on top of the fireplace. So no TV while we were there. No breakfast or snacks.

This is a beautiful house in an area close to downtown Newport . Check-in is sent to you by text or Email. The bed and room were comfortable and I would have rated it a 5 except the shower was disappointing. The door track would not close properly and at times the shower trickled out so slowly that my wife passed on washing her hair there because it too long to rinse.

Uses self check-in. There is no sign on the house or property that indicates the current name of the inn. Although well equipped to provide breakfast, they have discontinued that amenity. Suggest using the IHOP just around the corner on West Main Road. The house is impressive but the condition and level of cleanliness is lacking. The in room television is virtually impossible to navigate. Recommend using a single television service that provides local channels and major cable networks. Overall? Disappointing.

Excellent stay

This is a very unique place for those who appreciate history and nostalgia. Beautiful, quiet and close to the beach. In the absence of some modern amenities such as an ice machine and microwave there are instead paintings, a piano, rocking chairs, old world charm, very high ceilings, a very comfortable shower, gorgeous antique furniture, privacy, lack of institutionalized average hotel feeling, easy check in and extremely low pricing considering the proximity to beaches. Thanks to all of the staff, managers and owners for preserving such a wonderful piece of American history.

It has a very newport, new england feel. Old mansion, with beautiful decor. Only problem I had was there was no elevator and I had to carry luggage up 3 large flights of stairs. If you are disabled, this is definitely not a place for you.

No reception to greet you so read your email/text!

This was the most unique experience of booking a hotel that I’ve ever had. For one thing, there isn’t a reception. If it weren’t for a nice couple who was also staying there my partner and I wouldn’t have known how to get into the hotel! However once we did, we were spell-bound. Our room was on the top floor with no elevator and very narrow stairs however once we navigated that we were in heaven. We had a very large beautifully clean room that was simply delightful to stay in. Since this property is a protected historical site, the furniture all around was age appropriate for the time with up to date linen and mattresses. My partner even played the piano for a delightful serenade. It was such a joyful stay I wish we had booked a couple more nights.

Terrific facility but some inconveniences

This is a beautiful historic building with truly exceptional grounds, operated as a self check-in and self-serviced facility which seems to contradict the premise of the "Hotels.com" title and calling it a "hotel" There was someone at the facility when we arrived, but that was the last we saw of her. Not a major issue as the check-in instructions were very comprehensive but several key inconveniences did lower our feelings about and rating for this "hotel": The Website noted the hotel provides free bottled water but there was none. There is NO breakfast service so we requested advice for a good place and were told to look it up online. There were NO facial tissues in the bedroom or bathroom - just an empty tissue container. There was only ONE small mirror in the bathroom and nowhere else. Great to have a small in-room fridge and freezer but it should have contained a couple of bottles of water. We had a pleasant stay, and appreciated the large porch and comfortable rocking chairs after a full day of touring. But after so many Hotels.com stays these past years, we have grown accustomed to a certain level of amenities and the lack thereof was very noticeable.
