Marriott's Villas at Doral3.0 out of 5.0

For those visiting the Miami area, this Marriott resort provides good accommodations for larger-sized families. We found everything to be clean and well kept. Also, they actually have a dining table with that fits 6 people (with 6 chairs). Have been so frustrated in the past with places that sleep 6/8 but only provide 4 chairs for the kitchen/dining table .. what's with that? Nonetheless, liked the layout of resort and appreciated that they have a bit more to offer families than other places we've stayed at. The lawn game area, miniature golf course and various games near the pool were nice. Also enjoyed the outdoor BBQ grills on the property - they are high quality cooking grills and definitely worth taking advantage of. Good job, Marriott. The place also works hard to have a lot of activities going on each day for different interests and age groups that are either free or relatively small cost involved. The only downside we saw.. there's a lot of traffic of flights (from the West) approaching the MIA airport. The resort has good soundproofing, so while the noise from the arriving flights is something you'll be able to hear, you would have to be a VERY light sleeper for it to be an issue.
After a seven day cruise, we stayed with my family at Marriott Villas at Doral for one week. Really a very good experience close to golf court and they give you vouchers to play, and close also to CVS and Publix. The villa was very good with all the appliances and very new. Hope this year we can stay again here because it was a wonderful experience!!!
After a 7-day cruise I've stayed with my boyfriend and his cousin and her husband on this property. Before we arrived I had contact with Jermaine (the manager of guest relations) about my boyfriend's birthday. When we arrived at the hotel, check in was a breeze. And the moment my boyfriend opened the door he was so surprised. There were balloons, a birthday cake (chocolate his favorite). And a bottle of prosecco. He was delighted. But also were his cousin and her husband. They loved the apartment, and walked through it in hapiness. The bedrooms are very pretty and clean, the kitchen is large and has everything you need. The livingroom we've enjoyed at nights, watching movies and enjoy talking with eachother. The same for the balcony. We had a great stay and were sad to go. We know where we are going to stay the next time we will be in Miami!
We spent two nights with the kids there and it was ok to do so. Well located close to the airport (note: you will be seeing and hearing the planes VERY closely) and various malls and good restaurants. The complex as such has aged, but the rooms are top modern with exeptionally clean rooms and facilities. The kids loved the pool and we adults enjoyed reasonable prices overall.
We stayed at Marriotts Villas at Doral for two nights when we first arrived in Florida from the UK. The villas are lovely but the buildings are a little tired and the resort feels below the usual Marriott vacation club standard. Having said that the staff were lovely and incredibly helpful. It was great to have access to the Trump resort via shuttle but we did feel that Marriott should invest rather than rely on another resort to provide the enhanced facilities.
We stayed there for one night while waiting for an appointment, was concerned about the construction going on in the surround era... the room was good updated and the fun kid activities compensated any temporal noise. Great pool and staff
We arrived 6:00am, tired from our redeye flight. My mother's luggage stolen on shuttle to airport for our flight to Miami. Rented car and Villas not far from airport, great! We arrived, it was pouring down rain, no place to eat, except the Trump which had breakfast buffet/menu ordering. By the way, you have full use of Trump Resort amenities, including pools, while staying at Villas. The front desk staff at Marriott could not have been more accommodating, sympathetic. Check in after 3:00, maybe 4:00 pm. They knew we were exhausted, told us about shopping areas to get a few things for mom for the week's stay. We took free shuttle to Trump for breakfast, went shopping, indoor Dolphin Mall, very nice, every store high end, but also, included Ross and Marshall's! We received a phone call saying our room was ready before 3:00 pm. We had a two bedroom suite, three TV's, beautiful view of the grounds, washer/dryer, full kitchen, comfortable and great air-conditioning! No rain after that! The pool at the Villas was nice, has bar/restaurant on site, great staff, notifying everyone of upcoming activities. However, pool chilly, so we opted for Trump which has adult/family pools, loved it. This is a great area, close to restaurants, shopping, golfing, entertainment. Approximately 20 min. drive to Miami Beach if you prefer the late night activities. Besides front desk staff being one of the most outstanding of any places we've stayed, we had an issue with no hot water. Abdel, the Maintenance Supervisor, came to our room immediately, checked everything, and informed us that water had to be run for a bit on first day for it to heat. We did not have any problems after that, and he could not have been nicer and professional. Great man! On our last night, Jermaine, the Guest Relations Manager, sent up a beautiful basket filled with wonderful beverages/treats--what a wonderful surprise! Will we stay here next time in Miami? No question, ABSOLUTELY!
Booked this hotel for what should have been a relaxing night between two full days of travel. Checked in around 11PM and as my family headed to our room, we heard some signs of partying. By 11:45PM the partying had escalated two villas down with people inside and outside being loud and obnoxious. I understand the hotel can't control or predict that someone will book a room to party in. The disappointing part of this experience comes from the hotel staff's interactions with me about the incident. I made my first call to the front desk and was told they would look into it. Fifteen minutes later I hear the party goers complaining loudly, directly outside my door, that security told them to calm down. At 12:45AM, party was still in full force. I called the front desk again and was told that security had been unable to locate anyone partying. I informed front desk that the security guard definitely found them and had spoken to them. Front desk told me he would look into it. At 1:30AM, party was still in full force. Called the front desk again and was told that the security would go back down there. Front desk also told me, with an attitude, that I should go outside and see what was happening for myself or go outside and talk to security. Informed front desk that I did not want 30 drunk people knowing that I was complaining about them. At 2:30AM, party still ongoing, I called the front desk again. Informed cops were there to throw them out. Front desk was speaking with obvious disdain to me at this point, as if I was annoying him with my calls about this situation. Finally, by 3AM the party was over. Spoke to the front desk manager the next morning and voiced my concerns. Got the canned "we'll use this as a training opportunity" answer 3 times out of her and nothing else. Honestly don't believe she cared all that much.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was clean, however, it was far from the main building, about 10 minutes walk for breakfast, lunch, dinner and meeting rooms. The gardens were beautiful. Pool and bar at the pool were clean. Food was ok. Highly recommended for business or family vacation.
We couldn't be happier to stay a night pre-cruise at the villa. We had the two-bedroom unit with a great view of the pond on the top floor. What a great value for our money! All the staff we ran into was friendly and helpful, I was really impressed! Our stay was short so we did not get to experience all of their amenities but what we saw was definitely impressive. From now on I will seek out Marriott's vacation rentals instead of the regular hotels.
