Quaint hotel close to everything you want to do in the center of Merida. Staff is great, food yummy, comfortable. I have stayed here 3 times and love it.
Nice hotel close to downtown local shopping. rooms are small, seasoned staff is much more attentive to your needs. Good hotel, pricing getting a bit excessive for the comfort provided. WIFI very unpredictable. Hot water cold water showers unpredictable.
This is a really nice place to stay in the heart of downtown Merida. The place is very clean, the staff very attentive and helpful, and the atmosphere wonderfully relaxed. The building is old and hence has some age-related issues, the worst being the time required for the hot water to get to the shower, and the need for the (thoughtfully-supplied) drain stopper in the shower to keep the otherwise faint odor from the drain out of the bathroom. Also, the beds are pretty short, so if you're taller than about 6'5" you might not be comfortable in them. On the other hand we loved the classic Mexican architecture and interior courtyard, the both the hotel food and service were delightful. Especially so at the price. We'd definitely stay here again, in fact it would be our first choice.
Staff always accommodating, old structure, some awful smells come trough
The hotel is quite lovely when you consider the dining area, courtyard and pool area. The rooms, although clean and well decorated, are a little claustrophobic due to the absense of a window. The staff is wonderful and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant experience.
The location of the hotel is excellent, just a few meters away from the central square, and accessible to bus stations and convenient public transportation. The interior design of the hotel is beautiful, among one of the nicest boutique hotels I've seen. My room was situated on the third floor, and even though it was not a particular hot night, the humidity of the room was almost unbearable. There is only one window located in the bathroom, and it is not enough given the size of the room with high vaulted ceilings. We switched to an adjacent room in hopes of improving the situation-- but it did not make a difference. I understand it is a historic building, but I feel they really need to cut out a few more windows to make the rooms more comfortable. I would recommend stopping at this hotel for lunch, breakfast or drinks.
Except for no computer working during my stay, the hotel was very nice, the garden patio peaceful and romantic at night. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The pool was under repair 2 days after my arrival until my departure. I have read other reviews and would agree the toilet, commode or john was too close to the wall, shower good but sink area small.
The hotel was well located in the town center but there was no free hotel parking. You had the choice between a valet parking (140 pesos) or a parking behind the hotel open 8.00 am to 2.00 am (15 pesos/h). The hotel is really charming but some room have no window. Nice outside patio with a small swimming pool. To summarize a really nice place for the price.
Staff is friendly & the location is ideal. The rooms are small, bathrooms are so tiny it is comical.
The place is BEAUTIFUL! Make sure you take advantage of the patio out back! I am not a person who needs a lot of space when I travel but....the room was small and our bathroom was even smaller. Your knees hit the wall when you use the commode. It's location is perfect. You are right in the middle of Merida!
This little Boutique Hotel is very clean! There is No elevator due to the fact that it was built in the early 1900's and it would have lost its beauty. The stairs are wide and easy to go to and from your room. It is located almost across from the Gran Plaza, very near the oldest cathedral in North America and close to all shopping. The Front Desk staff, Joaquin and Rigel were very helpful, very friendly, gracious, attentive and did everything to make us feel welcome and at home. Also, unlike so many other hotels, the hotel food was excellent, nicely presented and very tasty, especially their Pizzas made in the stone oven out in the back Garden area where you can sit and enjoy the ambiance. The photographs shown in their website do this little hotel a lot of justice in so far as the Rooms, the Restaurant, the outside Pool area with the hammocks, the eating area in the Garden and the outside Bar areas are concerned. The waiting staff was also very attentive to our needs, The room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor. It had a balcony facing out front to Calle 60, had a very comfortable king size bed with tent drapes around the bed which reminded us of "Tales of 1001 Arabian Nights". The bathroom was small and the only negative thing about the room was, that the A/C unit in the room was extremely noisy. Never the less, we would certainly recommend it to anyone who is planning to visit Merida, be it for just for a couple of days or a couple of weeks like we did. If you go there by car or rent a car while there, the hotel has Valet parking for a reasonable small charge per night. If we ever did go back, we would consider staying there again, as it was good value for the cost per night.
All staff in Piedra de Agua Hotel are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to provide great service to guess. The hotel is in a great location, the food is really good, and the hotel is beautiful.
Bathroom is really small. There is no window in room, but a wooden door to the balcony, so a little sunlight would be nice to have. Rooms are only cleaned before 2PM, so you cannot sleep late. Front desk called frequently to the room to ask for permission to go in and clean. Late checkout is charged for 1/2 day rate, and wouldn't allow an extra hour. Pool area and hamocks are really nice, and location is fantastic. Nice hotel, and great value.
This hotel is conveniently located in the historic district of Merida. It was walking distance to all the major attractions as well as festivals/events in the area. Lot's of restraunts and shops. We really enjoyed the rustic and colonial style hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff with a refreshing drink. The staff provided excellent service during our entire stay. The rooms were air conditioned, quiet, and the beds were comfortable and the rooms were charming and VERY CLEAN!! The restraunt was also good, we reccommend trying the cucumber with lemon juice. It was very good and refreshing! I would definitely go back!!
the rooms are small and the bath rooms are even smaller food is good and the staff are cool the pool is a small 4 people max.
