The hotel was amazing. I loved every single detail throughout the hotel. The architecture, the vintage rocking chairs on every floor, the terrace to have breakfast or coffee, the small convenience store inside the hotel, the pool. Everything was memorable. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

We stayed at Casa Del Balam for four nights in March 2017. We had rented a car in Cancun and drove to Merida for our stay. It was a straight shot from the end of the toll road to the hotel, although the street names changed a couple of times. The location is perfect. Three blocks from the main plaza, along a safe street. Parking was free at a lot next door. Check in was easy, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is an older style elevator to go upstairs that worked properly and was kind of fun to use. Our room was a standard, but a good size with firm beds. Even though the hotel is downtown, the room was soundproofed really well. Our room had French style doors which opened to a large picture window. It would have been nice to open to the outdoors, but the trade off is the soundproofing. Bathroom was good size with tub/shower. There is a pool and nice atrium with tables and chairs. We did not eat at the hotel, but they had a restaurant. A really good place for breakfast is right around the corner at Cafeteria Pop. We also had fun at La Parilla up the street. On the weekend the street is closed for pedestrians only, and they have tables set up in the street in front of the restaurant. Merida is a beautiful, safe and historic city anyone would love.

The staff was great, they did an excellent job and made us feel very comfortable. The building is within a couple of blocks from downtown. Our room was facing the street and curtains were not thick enough to block out the light coming in at night. One other con to staying here is the wifi signal is weak or non existent in the room. We had to be in the patio area to get a better signal. However overall it was a good stay

The hotel staff and the location is perfect! Everything is in a short walking distance.

Beautiful hotel in The central part of Merida. It was an easy walk to historic sites and shopping. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable. We felt very safe in a city that we were unfamiliar with.

Amazing helpful staff, great location . Would definitive return

We stayed at the Casa del Balam for four days during our visit to Merida. The location of the hotel was perfect as it was only a couple of blocks from the main plaza. Those two blocks are blocked to traffic on the weekends from 8:30 pm and becomes a great place to stroll and enjoy a dinner outside. The room we stayed at was very comfortable and clean. Parking was right next to the hotel and easy to access. I would definitely stay at this place again.

Air conditioner was defficient. Lools like very outdated

This trip stayed at Del Balam. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast area in courtyard. Nice way to start the day. Bar area was a nice way to end the day. Would stay again.

La Casa del Balam was great, the rooms were charming and the staff were helpful. The hotel is just a couple blocks from the Centro where everything happens. There is a beautiful courtyard to eat breakfast and the pool is lovely (although it has some mosquitoes at night). One thing to know is that when you book here (online) you don't get breakfast included (continental - juice, coffee, fruit plate, toast and jam), whereas when you book there for essentially the same price, you do. I'm not sure why that is, but good to keep in mind.

The hotel has great location in Merida's historical downtown, 3 minutes walking from historical & cultural sites in the city. a lots of good local restaurants in the area. In addition, the hotel staff was very helpful an kind- front desk & shift manager. The rooms real looks as they appear on the web site, welcoming and comfortable. The only remark i can say is about

Colourfull and full of little details, near everywhere.

The hotel is old, but it's charming and very clean. It's also really well located. The staff was super nice. I would stay there again.

Very attentive & helpful staff. Beautiful ambiance. Close to city center and one block away from one of the best restaurants: Chaya Maya. If you go in Dec or Jan, you may need to ask for an extra blanket. Tip generously, it's worth it: Every day we got different and exquisite animalitos made from towels--quite a art treat!!!!

Casa del Balam is a beautiful hotel that provided a relaxing and lush oasis for my group and me at the end of the day. The rooms are spotlessly clean and pleasingly decorated. The bathrooms are great, too, especially for Americans who are used to a certain standard of comfort and amenities (hair dryer, lots of toilet paper, big towels, etc.) in the bathroom! My friends and I swam in the swimming pool, which located in a private courtyard surrounded by lush tropical plantings. My only suggestion would be to bring a towel from your hotel room because there were none provided in the pool area. The staff was courteous and efficient. Breakfast was served in the hotel's main courtyard, which is centered by a lovely fountain. It was a great experience and a perfect way to begin and end our trip around the Yucatan.

Located near the Grand Plaza, if you can get a room for a reasonable rate it's worth a stay for the central location. While it may not be a 4 star hotel by American standards, they do a much better job than most other hotels in the price range of $90 a night for that area.

This no Hilton or Marriot, and I don't like Hiltons or Marriots. You may disagree. The Casa Del Balam has unique charm, old stateliness, and a helpful and friendly staff. Frommer's is a better guide than their desk man, however. This hotel's very long suit is location. It is in the midst of many of Merida's best small restaurants. You can stay out on the Paseo Montejo, and eat imitation Yucatecan food and see mostly other Americans, or you can immerse yourself in the downtown of the colonial wonder that is Merida. Life offers choices...

Casa del Balam is a very nice Hotel located in the heart of Centro. It is bit Old but very well maintained and has the flavor of Merida that I was looking for. This was my 1st trip to Merida and I wanted to stay in Centro. You are within walking distance of just about everything ...very close to Paseo de Montejo and many restaurants. If you are looking for American TV at night, that will not happen. The continental breakfast which is included was fine. The restaurant in the Hotel was lacking. The lighting is not very good...you feel like your eating in something other that a restaurant but the service was very good. I would recommend this Hotel to someone looking to stay in Centro. The value is very good

This hotel was great, staff was friendly and always offering a helping hand. The hotel was classy taking me back to colonial times. Rooms were large and housekeeping did a great job. Always had plenty of towels and they made cuute towel animals like at the fancier hotels. Great value in a perfect location. This was hotel and a city that you would come back to and wish your city was more like.

This hotel is just two blocks from the main city square and large cathedral. There are several good restaraunts and bars nearby as well. Despite the inner city location, it has a calm and cool feel. The garden courtyard is welcoming and refreshing. The rooms are nice, not fancy and clean.

On the other hand we're sorry to get to know that the front desk service wasn't what you had expected, we're already sending copy of your observation to our staff so that they can all be aware.
