The hotel has a good old style feeling. But could do with an update room doors are loose, plumbing services upgrade hot water very slow. Inconsistent staff ability particularly in the Cricketers Bar with partially trained staff.

The Windsor was very welcoming and full of character. Staff were fantastic. Food was delicious. We had a mix up with our booking however with the persistent help of both Expedia and the Windsor it was eventually resolved for which I was very grateful. A delightful stay.

Have stayed a few times now at the Windsor. Whilst it's a little 'tired' in some areas, we love old world atmosphere an charm it has (as well as a seriously impressive list of past guests!). Staff are always efficient and courteous. Our rooms have been great (particularly the upgrade we scored this time around). Great location opposite Parliament House. Very close to the theatres, multiple dining options and free CBD tram access. Will definitely be back.

Weird check in experience

Great location, excellent bar the Cricketers. We originally booked the Hilton but were keen to try the Windsor for its old world charm, which Windsor had however sometimes it was just "old". Also we didn't have the best check in experience. After dropping our bags early in the morning we were told our room would be ready shortly by baggage. However when we came back 2 hours later concierge informed us it was not ready yet. Which is totally fine however we were then given a condescending explanation that concierge rather than baggage knows when the room is ready and we should have come to concierge (aka it's our fault). And had we wanted early check in we should've organised ahead.... We honestly didn't care we assumed check in was at 3pm like any hotel but as we were informed our room might be ready early by baggage we just thought we'd come back. This all could've just been explained more gently and we would've understood our room wasn't ready/there was a miscommunication. Putting the onus on us and getting defensive when we simply wanted to see if our room was ready was just a bit weird...

It's a classic, but the standard room i was in was a little "tired" (historical features aside. E.g. bath was discoloured and had cracks in it; bethroom in need of attention overall).
