Fascinating with the hefty history and beautiful architecture style. Nice location with free city tram just outside of the front door for you to see the rest part of CBD, and several parks just minutes of walk away. Spacious room, though a bit noise on the Westside ( there are several bars and restaurants and a theater). It provides tooth pastes and slippers. I took the free shutter bus pickup to Skybus to airport at 6am.

Hotel staff is wonderful, make you feel welcome, help with all your needs. However, this old dame needs a total refurbishment, beginning with replacing the old carpeting in the hallways, updating the lighting, etc. They gave us a room, which they claimed was a king bed, but was two joined twin beds with a bump in the middle. Uncomfortable bedding. Horrible view from our window, facing an office building within approx. 20 ft. No safe in our room, was told safes are only found in suites. Breakfast was great!

Staff very nice but the room had peeling paint, extremely small, poor TV reception, unsafe bathtub. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

The Hotel Windsor is a very nice historic property located in the heart of Melbourne, across from the state parliament building The rooms are very spacious and well appointed in a traditional style. My room included a walk in closet, which is unusual in most hotels. If you are looking for a high end old-school hotel experience, this is the place.

I was expecting much more from this hotel. Interaction with staff kind of cold and detached. The room did not smell well. Gym has the oldest barbells I've ever seem. Overall it was an average experience, though good value for money

"Grande dame" of hotels, but from an earlier era. Room was on the small side, with lots of, but not very functional furniture and air conditioning was a bit "musty" smelling. Location is excellent; walking distance or free tram to most key spots. Lovely served breakfasts in hushed dining room...an unexpected special experience. Great for people on holiday, less optimal for business traveler.

Excellent, courteous staff. The best kind of old fashioned hotel, with excellent staff and service.

Classic european feel, comfortable, quite, excellent bathrooms.

The Hotel Windsor is one of the few grand old hotels from times gone by. It is elegant and welcoming although in need of some cosmetic improvements such as furniture in the dining room that matches the 1880s time frame. The hotel added on a section that is extremely plain compared to the original structure. If you want to see what the hotel was like in the 1880s grandure of the time step into the grand staircase from the 4th floor and look down. It is spectacular! The Larger suites have elegant furniture and entryways but the suites in the older section that was added on lack the glitz and glamour. The hallways are plain beige and lack any character, especially compared to the spectacular hallways in the original sections. It appears that the wallpaper was removed and painted over throughout the hotel which detracts from what should feel like a Victorian experience. The staff are wonderful, helpful and bring back the feeling of the 1880s, which must be difficult given the lack of investment into the building itself. The dining experience was perfection and the High Afternoon Tea was a highlight of our trip.

Strange how much this hotel does not trust their guests. Upon check in, we were informed that despite the very high price they charge for rooms, they were going to charge our credit card an additional $50 per day "for incidentals". When I questioned why, they told us is was for the mini-bar. If we took nothing, then the money would be credited "within 3-5 business days". Here's an idea: you have my credit card. You also have a guy that comes around every day to check the mini-bar. Why not wait until we actually take something before billing us for it? On our departure day, I asked for a late check out (1:00 pm). The front desk was happy to accommodate us... at $20 per hour. Absolutely outrageous. I've been treated better at Motel 6. Aside from that, the wifi was so weak that trying to do anything online was a complete waste of time. The hotel may have charm, may have history, but they totally lack customer service.

Our experience with the hotel started 3 days before our stay. We were visiting Sydney and didn't want to lug our big suitcase around, so the hotel was kind enough to hang onto it in baggage storage for when we returned. Quick check-in. The hotel looks old (it's authentic and a look it's going for), and the rooms are clean and shower pressure was fantastic. We enjoyed a few pints at the Cricketer's Bar, but cannot comment on the food here or in the restaurant at the hotel. Parking on site was steep (~$50), but since we arrived after 4pm and were leaving before 6am the next morning for the airport, we parked in a city garage around the corner for only $13. It was a 10-min walk to Federation Square with an electric night life for a married couple in their 30s (read: nice dinner, bars with reasonable volume to carry on a conversation over some drinks). Taxis are difficult to come by, but the U worked great to hail cabs and get around when needed. We'd stay again.

Hotel room was very small and reception's staff was untrained as well as rude.

It is an amazing classic hotel, very well located and with great staff. The only thing that could be improved is that the WiFi access was not free and wall plugs are old... Overall a great stay

We loved our recent city stay at the Windsor. On arrival we were offered the option of upgrading to the corner suite and now we could accept anything less. The rooms were enormous and the view to Parliament very special. Whilst the room features are 1950s-ish (particularly the bathroom), they are in perfect condition. We will be sure to stay again.

First time in Melbourne, and this hotel was smack in the middle of everything I wanted to see. Across from Parliment, and close to Southern Cross station which made it easy to get to from the airport. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

The Windsor is always my first choice in Melbourne. It's a beautiful historic hotel in a great location. The accommodations in the older section are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff, particularly the concierge team, is very friendly and helpful.

We booked the hotel for about USD 138 a night, and it's really a great value. The bell man helped us move the luggage and stored the luggage while we went to return the car. The hotel is a classic. The room is a little bit small, but really charming. Concierge was really helpful and helped us booked a sightseeing trip in the last minute. Subway and free city circle bus stop on the same block, and it's within walking distance to everywhere, so it's very convenient. Will definitely recommend this place.

Right across from the Parliament and easy access to everywhere in the city and outside of it.

Hotel is pretty high-end. Wish they had a better gym and better (i.e.: free) internet access. Other than that, it is well located and accomodating.

MY FRIEND AND I STAYED FOR A WEEKEND. THE FIRST ROOM WAS SMALL AND DINGY WITH BATH STAINS AND DUSTY. THE VIEW WAS A BRICK WALL. WE COMPLAINED AND WHERE TOLD THERE WHERE OTHER BETTER STANDARD ROOMS.I THOUGHT WHY GIVE US A ROTTEN ONE THEN. WE WHERE MOVED TO A SUPERIOR STANDARD WHICH WAS CLEANER AND A BIT BIGGER. THERE ARE NO FACILITIES IN THIS HOTEL. IE. SWIM OR SPA ECT. IT WAS FAIRLY CENTRAL BUT NOT A 5 STAR
