Knightsbrook Hotel Spa & Golf Resort4.0 out of 5.0

We had a fabulous day at the knightsbrook spa. We bought the spa deal for 95euro including afternoon tea and it was brilliant value. The only downfall was probably the swimming pool... there was kids swimming lessons on at the time we went down to the facilities with parents surrounding which made us feel uncomfortable. Everything else was amazing. The staff were exceptional, they were all extremely professional, inviting and made us feel welcome...from the spa reception to being served our afternoon team. The spa staff were so professional from the moment we walked in and really friendly. My hour massage was absolutely fabulous, probably the best I've had so far by any hotel I've been in including any 5 star. The girl I had was Kayli and I would return because I was so satisfied from my treatment. Finally, we finished our lovely relaxing day by being seated upstairs overlooking the chandelior by more professional staff and the afternoon tea was beautiful we really enjoyed it. It was actually the icing on the cake to a brilliant day out.
Stayed here for a conference. On arrival found the staff very friendly and helpful, good size rooms. Food was good, reasonable selection on menu. Hotel was to be fair absolutely spotless. The one thing I didn’t like? As with a lot of hotels the shower curtain, I can never understand why they don’t install screens instead. (But maybe that’s just me being fussy and it wouldn’t stop me coming back to stay).
When we arrived at the hotel we immediately noticed the warm relaxed atmosphere, such a beautiful lobby.the reception staff were very efficient and friendly.this theme continued through out our stay.we were a little disapoibtrd with our spa treatment we felt we didn't get any value or time..butbits what we chose as it was a package deal.who ever runs this hotel can take a big bow as the customer service is amazing
We were a party of 10. 2 stayed in the hotel & 8 in a 3 bedroom house on the property. Overall, aesthetically a nice hotel. Reception staff were pleasant on arrival and upon request upgraded our room. Lovely room with balcony & view. Although the smell on the corridor when you exited the lift was wrenching. Sadly it did not disappear at all but luckily we were staying for one night. In fairness, we did not notify reception due our short stay so the hotel never had an opportunity to rectify it. However, house keeping never addressed the issue despite frequenting the floor during our stay - they must have smelt it too?!! The staff in the hotel, while inefficient and beyond slow in delivering a simple service such as drinks, they were very pleasant and had a good attitude towards guests. This leads me to the house. It was a basic 3 bedroom house for €500 per night.....yep €500 per night!! Nothing wow or amazing about it. Basic but clean is how to describe it. Perhaps Air BnB rentals have us spoiled when you see what €500 gets you in when you leave Dublin ..... whole castles, renovated beautiful barns, country manors stunning houses with amazing interiors, jacuzzi, hot tubs etc. For that price I would expect some wow factor but there was none. It was a bog standard basic 3-bedroom house. After complaining about no WiFi in the house - we were told by reception it was not feasible to add internet to to the house. I would argue at the astronomical price per night they charge, that it is more than feasible to add something as basic as WiFi in the house. Very disappointing and to be honest, not good enough. In a nutshell, an ok place but you can pay a lot less and book nicer accommodation in the same area no mater what size group you are. Shop around and put this near the bottom of your list.
Went to a wedding reception in the hotel and was really disappointed. The function room was sweltering. There was air conditioning but appears it was not switched on. The starter was a chicken vol au vent which was bland. The soup was very nice. I had beef which was very tough. We were given a small bowl of veg between 10 people. Gravy arrived when the meal was finished. The dessert was the highlight of the night, it was delicious. During tea/coffee a small jug of milk was left on the table, we had to request 2 refills. The service was poor, the staff were very mechanical with little attention paid to the guests.
Stayed here overnight and while the hotel is nice in general, the restaurant did leave a lot to be desired. The menu was quite limited and it felt as though the staff just wanted us out! This was particularly evident when the waiter placed the bill on the table while we were still eating dessert!! We hadn't even asked for it!! Not sure we would return in a huurry!
We stayed here for a night over halloween break and enjoyed a treatment, 4 course meal bed & breakfast. Would highly recommend hotel for a stay and great location for exploring the area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. My only 1 critisism was not enough staff for breakfast to bring you tea/coffee on a busy morning but otherwise would stay again.
Stayed here for one night enjoyed the pool and spa , the rooms spacious with nice furniture, staff friendly, the food in the restaurant was top class as was the service I would definitely recommend this hotel , it's set in a nice location not far from the town of trim
Went for an afternoon tea and spa there recently and I wasn’t impressed. The food is poor and no taste and the spa is very uncomfortable and inconvenient as to use the swimming pool from the steam and sauna rooms you need to go for a long walk over the 2 floors and hallways that are cold and unpleasant. So I will not go there again . Steam room is poor steam not strong enough and other herbal saunas were out of order.
First and foremost, this hotel is situated in a large urban housing estate- I kid you not. This was the view from our bedroom; I'd rather have stayed home in my own housing estate which is much nicer to look at! The golf course looks beautiful and is situated to the rear of the the hotel, so a room with a view of this would be much nicer of course. The walls are very thin in the bedrooms, everything can be heard and there isn't a puff of air in the rooms either - I cannot express how uncomfortably stuffy and dry the air is so we all had a terrible nights sleep... The decor in the hotel over all is quite dated but comfortable. We had a meal in the rococo restaurant included as part of our package and while the dinner was tastey, the service was poor, and lacked any hospitality. Each course was delivered and you were left to eat it without any enquiries as to how the food is? Can I get you anything else? Etc.. Just a drop off and run job.. Suprisingly the breakfast the following morning was very poor. Buffet style full irish where everything was deep fried and very overcooked. There were no scrambled eggs or boiled eggs offered. No porridge, pretty much the healthy options weren't there bar some fruit salad and yougort. I requested a bowl of porridge and it was actually inedible - from the taste it was like it had been cooked in a pot which had Gravey in the night before, and made solely with water with a thick grey skin on the surface - so revolting! We used the pool with our 5 yr old and found it very enjoyable but not up to standard for a supposed 4 star hotel to be honest. Upon checkout, I was never asked how we found our stay or given the opportunity to voice some feedback and I find this appalling. We had a round of golf and use of the spa facilities included as part of the package also but didn't partake in either. We had paid up front as part of a package deal and therefore clearly our opinion or enjoyment did not matter to knightsbrook one bit upon our departure. To sum up: this is a 3 star hotel, tops. Management need to retrain/refresh staff in basic hospitality skills, and also IT'S IN A HOUSING ESTATE!! No need for the generic managerial reply Knightsbrook - I'll be trying to forget the time I wasted here, not get in touch.
