The rooms were oversized, bed was just right as were the pillows. They use the duvet, but it is not as thick as most, just right. The breakfast was good, better than most, but the highlight was the pancake machine. The place was full of workers, but they were there to sleep, it was a great quiet night.
Front desk staff very friendly. Room clean and comfortable. Furniture starting to show some wear. Breakfast area just fair...pretty small and crowded and some items not as hot as they should be. No bananas available, Nothing really wrong with this hotel, just not quite as sharp and crisp as it could be. Minor improvements and it would deserve 5 stars. It's often the little things that make the difference.
On a business trip to McAlester, we stayed here for the week. It's located right off of Hwy 69, and located near plenty of shopping and great places to eat. It was also convenient for travel to our place of business which was less than a 15 minute drive; it would have been even faster had there not been construction on Hwy 69. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and hospitable, as well as accommodating. Like most Holiday Inn Express hotels, they do offer the breakfast each morning. They also have WIFI as well as some of the rooms had cable connection for internet. If you are traveling on government funds, be aware that unless your government credit card is centrally billed and not individually billed, they will charge you the hotel tax; so the hotel tax exemption form will not. It is an Oklahoma State law; other hotels are accepting the tax exemption form, but they're not supposed to...your choice. Other than that, the hotel is clean, rooms are up to date with modern amenities; their is a outdoor pool and they have a small fitness room. There is also a couple of small conference rooms for small business meetings. There are several places to eat nearby, with a handful of them within walking distance - Chili's, Braum's Ice Cream & Burger Restaurant, East Gourmet Restaurant, Arby's, KFC, and Mazzio's Italian Eatery.
The water pressure in the shower was great! Hotel was clean, front desk staff friendly, room spacious. Couldn't really hear much of the road noise in the room. Several restaurants close enough to walk to. Breakfast food area was tight but plenty of seating. Good choice of food, including their trademark cinnamon rolls. Shower/tub area did have a bit of mold on the caulking but not to the level of being gross. Beware the potholes in this town's roads.
There aren’t a lot of options in McAlester, OK, but this is not an amazing hotel. Employees were competent, but not overly friendly. The pool is outdoors and closed for the season, although it was 85 out. The breakfast area was pretty small, but breakfast options were ok. The room was decently clean and the bed was comfortable, but why does Holiday Inn only give you those suffocating duvets? I’m cold blooded, but even for me those things are WAY too warm and don’t breath. So, if you have to stay in McAlester, this is probably your best bet, but maybe Muskogee would have more to offer.
Wife and I spent a couple of nights here this past week. Super nice and clean motel, friendly staff. Breakfast was decent. Ice machine downstairs was broke-bummer. It was quite hot in the exercise room but otherwise it was nice. Pool was already closed for the season...a touch of a bummer there. Our suite room was flat out super nice though and the bed was comfy. The place is quiet. Good location here. One of the better places to stay in McAlester...we will be back!!
I've stayed at this hotel many times, and I'm never disappointed. The hotel is immaculate, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The room has multiple amenities, and the hotel offers a pool and hot tub. The breakfast is a typical chain hotel breakfast, but it is plentiful and warm. The location is perfect.
My hubby and I stayed here for only one night while on a driving vacation. Booked our room online shortly before arrival. Efficient and pleasant staff greeting me promptly and with a smile. Our large, comfortable king-bed suite was fresh and clean. Had a large bathroom with all the amenities expected from Holiday Inn Express. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance which gave us time to stretch our legs after driving all day. After a nice, quiet comfortable sleep we woke up to a well-presented and wide variety breakfast to get us started on our future journey.
What a welcome relief after a long day on the road. These rooms are very large and very well appointed. The beds are quite comfortable and we didn't hear a sound during the night. Breakfast was good and the gentleman putting out the food did a great job staying on top of everything.
A great stay, we both slept soundly. Safe, roomy bathroom for wheelchair user. Disabled spaces for parking at front of hotel are on a slope - not the easiest position to negotiate getting in and out of the car with a wheelchair, so use the level entrance by check-in. Member of staff of note: Travis at early morning reception, cheerful to everyone!
