We had a great experience staying here. We had a very smooth check in, the staff was very helpful. The rooms are big with all the amenities. The breakfast was very good . They had fresh baked breads and local jams. Location is good, the bus stop is at the hotel and it was very convenient to go around.
Spent there two nights with my wife and everything was OK without any reason to complain. The hotel is located in nice and quiet area of Matten (part of Interlaken) and is directly connected with both West and East railway stations by public transportation (bus 104 to East and bus 105 to West station). The bus stop is directly across the street. The rooms are of adequate size with comfortable beds, the bathroom consists of shower, WC, small washbasin and our room had also balcony. The rooms are clean and equipped with some furniture to place your items there. Breakfast buffet had good variety of choice and you can find there all you need for perfect start of the day. The staff is familiar and friendly and they can help you with all your needs and interests. Also we could leave our things at the reception area after checking out until our evening departure. This hotel is definitely worth of the stay. We´ll come back for sure!
We arrived a lot later than planned, and although we had tried to let the hotel know via email and calling, the desk was not manned when we got in. However, it was dealt with excellently. There was a clear message on the door of how to speak to someone. She came down and was friendly and clear in her information even though we had woken her up. The room was a good size and bed comfortable - could have done with an extra pillow, but we made do! There was a welcome tea tray with a piece of chocolate - which at midnight was greatly appreciated. We had a large balcony and even in the dead of night we could tell the view was going to be amazing the next morning - we were right! The view of the snow capped mountains was spectacular. We realised that this view was all around you in Interlaken and were so glas we visited. Breakfast was great, coffee delicious and the range of food was brilliant. Location wise, we seemed to be close to transport links and a bus would come straight outside for easy access to other parts of the town. Lovely staff and lovely hotel!
Small old fashioned rooms, horrid food, miserable staff, who insisted on cash for the local tax - not sure if this was really allowed! I’m not a fussy person but would not recommend! The only redeeming factor was that it was clean and had a kettle!
I stayed there for a long time for a business travel and I am completely satisfied. We stayed in a 3 People Room, it was big enough with a small balcony. The location is great, on the village center. It can be a little noisy sometimes, witth the main road under the windows. The place is nice and the people are too!
Well located, either 10 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride into town, free with visitor card. I stay here on a package, as there is no single supplement. Never been bothered by any noise from the road. Plenty of choice at breakfast, and homely cooking in an evening, served at table. I am on a restricted diet for medical reasons - the first time it was the salad buffet, I took just the three items I could eat. Kati, the owners wife wanted to know why, and when I explained, I was told each morning what the evening meal was, and what did I want. The next time it was the salad buffet, there was a small plate of mixed meats specially for me.
Worst hotel ever in Europe Very not clean Very not good location Worst service and facility Worst worst worst
We booked there for 5 nights tru an agent but left from there just on 3rd day. A hotel run by RUDE old couple, needs to understsnd that customers pay money for the services which does not exist at all. No warm welcome..no good rooms..Depressing colors in room..small bathroom..bad breakfast..worst wifi connection..no laundry/iron.. Rude staff from A TO Z. They ruined my vacation . Switzerland is a beautiful country and over all people are very nice and helpful. Its just that this hotel is a mess.
Our travel agent booked us into this hotel and we thought it can't be as bad as all the reviews say. I think it is. The reviews are accurate. Don't stay here. There are so many places in Interlaken, there is no need to lower your standards this far. The hotel was deserted when we arrived, a note on the darkened reception desk said that reception would open at 5pm. We had been travelling all day, there was no chance we wanted to wait more than 2hrs to be able to check in. The reception area had a bad smell, perhaps cigars or some other smoke smell. There is a wall mounted key board in the main entry area, all keys are available to anyone. It's not even behind a desk, it's just right there on the wall. There was no one there to stop us, we could have jumped on the beds in every room and tried on all the guests clothing if we had wanted to. This hotel is extremely unappealing and I advise staying somewhere else.
I am not sure why people disliked stay here. I had an excellent stay in Hotel Sonne and the owner was very friendly. First of all, this is like a home-stay, the owner stays in the same house upstairs. So it will not be like a typical hotel stay. It's a slow paced street, there's a bar attached and the hotel is quite for most of the day, except it buzzes with some activity at the bar/restaurant in the evening. The breakfast was very average. We reached the hotel around noon and had to wait at reception before we could be checked in. After checking in the owner actually offered us to drop us to the main town and suggested places to visit. We were to tour Jungfrau next day, but had this day free to roam around the town. We were on a bit of crisis as airlines had lost our luggage. The owner was really helpful in taking messages from the airlines and we finally got our luggage on the 5th day of stay in Switzerland. It arrived almost 3 AM in the night and they received the luggage for us. The rooms are average, we are family of 4 and had booked two rooms. The rooms were adjacent and one of the room had a beautiful balcony and a sit out area, which was really impressive. The bathrooms are really tiny. Only compliant I had was owner's wife was not very friendly. I was sitting in the lobby outside the rooms and she just started yelling saying she can smell some curry. We had got some Thai take-outs and I felt it was none of her business to tell if we can eat take outs in the room. The location of hotel is slightly far from the center, but there's a direct bus on the same route which connects both Interlaken East and West stations. The street as such is very idyllic and not many restaurants, shops are there. I had to walk for almost 2 kms to find the closest supermarket.
