Hidden gem. Exceptionally friendly staff, great room, nice restaurant, coffee set up, and it’s a true historic type hotel well done - architects and developers spend a lot to build new as a “boutique” property but this is it and the real deal. 10/10 would recommend.

My husband broke his foot, so he’s in a wheelchair / Roller and I’m the luggage carrier. Imagine seeing beautiful stairs and no elevator. Hannah saves the day , her enthusiasm for the historical significance of the place is contagious. She goes down a flight of stairs , through a door where my husband can roll through, and while I’m waiting to see how this plays out, she becomes a magician and produces an elevator , hidden , and I get excited because it really looks like a dumbwaiter - I just walked back into a prior time of the gilded age . Instantly I am envious that my husband gets to ride in it , and Hannah continues to tell the history of the hotel. The Ballroom, the Card room, she rearranges furniture so my husband can get through to see it all (I put everything back in place) . Now we are both excited, forgetting to even check in, wondering what she produces next and Hannah did not disappoint , an old operator switchboard ! The original key to the Hotel, in a shadow box. All these treasures , and Hannah looks so young to have this knowledge! We check in , luggage complete , and off we go to explore the area . We come back with Little Debbie Christmas snacks for Hannah, but she’s gone. Shift over. The Hotel is wonderful , and the staff make the little hiccups ( my husband got stuck in the elevator , it just stopped working ) a minute situation.

The very well-cared-for building looks great. We made a reservation online, and then called to find out what time the restaurant closed. We were told 10 PM. We checked in and walked down to the restaurant at 7:45 pm, only to be told they had already closed. The good news is that Macado's Restaurant is across the street. They had a great menu, and the food was delicious. The HVAC also leaves a lot to be desired.

Awesome historical 100 year old hotel with a small time feeling but plenty big !!! Still very original and had the good feel of simpler times …. Very hospitable staff .. the young lady that checked us in was sweet and very informative …. She loved her job and it showed even though it was getting closer to midnight !! The beds were awesome .. I very rarely sleep most of the night and I woke up to the sun coming in the window (we purposely left the larger curtain open for natures wake up call !!) I hope we have the chance to return again some day !! Many thanks from the Sullivan’s

Beautiful older hotel - well maintained and exceptionally clean. Would highly recommend... just don't expect much for breakfast options (I didn't and that was fine with me). Great launchpoint for Back of the Dragon heading northbound.

We had no water in our room on Monday morning 10/27. We were not able to shower and could only flush once. The waffle dispenser was broken as well. We loved the room and Imani at check in was excellent. I left behind a hown by accident and the staff reached out to let us know so we could pick it up on the way back through. Thanks for that!

I was happy to find a renovated old hotel on the way (but off the Interstate) to my destination. It was cute and quaint and the price was right. I liked having a restaurant in the hotel for convenience (unlike typical hotel chains closer to the interstate.) While I expected less in terms of modern convenience, I was surprised to find that basics like room cleanliness weren’t a priority. There were food crumbs left on the carpet and it looked like the floorboards and other woodwork/furniture had not been cleaned or dusted in some time. The room was also a bit warm and could not be cooled with the old heating/AC unit. It’s a nice old hotel. Just know what you’re getting into.

Sisters Get Away Weekend

Overall, everything was wonderful. The room could use a little more light (only 1 lamp and no ceiling light) but other than that it was really nice. Very clean, etc. Would definitely stay here again. The food at the restaurant was not as good as expected and very slow. We realized that it was a show night so we got there extra early. Once we were served, the waitress never came back. We had to track her down for a drink refill and then again for the bill. We realized that it had gotten crowded, however we should not have been forgotten.
