We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this property. However, the cabin we were in is in very poor condition. Other cabins on the property are in excellent condition, however, this one should not be rented until it has been completely renovated.

simple, quiet, affordable

Thunderbird Resort is a family run operation. It is reasonably priced with no frills, but exceptionally clean and quiet. Full kitchen with utensils, but no condiments or coffee. An on-site convenience store, kayak rentals (it is on an inlet of Lake Buchanan). Everything closes down at 4pm however. Signage for entrance road off hwy 2431 could be better.

Hard to find property, Poor condition of roads within the property. Cabins were clean but you had to do your dishes if you used any and take out your trash at the end of stay. Minimal amenities such as towels, tissues. Had coffee maker but you had to bring all of your supplies and coffee. In General the place was rustic. Calling it a resort is a real stretch.

Due to storming there was flooding. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and our students. It was so clean and peaceful! We were enjoyed our entire weekend!

The Thundebird Resort was in a very nice area. There were a few things that didn’t work well. The refrigerator light didn't work. The television didn't work and Wally (tv viewing service was really bad). The personnel really tried to help but to no avail. And the Thundebird Resort websote should state phone calls cannot be made except for emergencies (911). Perhaps it does and I missed it.

The cabin was so clean and had everything we needed! It was quiet at night and we all slept like a baby! We went hiking around the lakes in the area but didn’t do any water activities. When the water level is up in Lake Buchanan, we will be coming back! Definitely recommend staying here!!

Tough weekend

Rather frustrating stay. Apparently an issue with WiFi made it inaccessible for our room and cell signal out there objectively horrible. Hard to keep walking up to office just to text family and friends. Toilet not seated well and rocked vigorously when seated. Shower head splayed like your thumb on a garden hose, only <6ft up, and had to go full heat to get a tepid shower. Staff were lovely however.

Star Gazing

I stayed at the lodge primarily for the dark skies and was not disappointed....the stars popped by 9pm and were beautiful. The main draws for the lodge are the mt bike lift and trails down the mountain and boat launching. Unfortunately the lake is too low there for any boating. The location is very peaceful so I enjoyed just sitting out and watching nature during the day and some hiking. The room was motel like and was spotless. Full kitchen. Checking in/out was easy and staff were very personable. Other than the biking there is not much else to do there but it makes a great get away otherwise. There is Long Horn Cavern and Inks Lake state park with great hiking trails about a 20 minute drive. This is not a luxury resort but for the price and quality of the accommodations it was really a nice stay.
