Very disappointing visit. Having previously been a huge fan of the Mal family this will be my last visit :/ The receptionist was very odd, kept telling us she wasn’t there to judge us in response to pretty much everything we said. Room was standard, none of the Mal glamour I’d expect. Cracked bathroom tiles and a metal type fly screen across a window looking out onto a car park. Breakfast used to be the highlight of the Mal experience but not any more :/ a very poor buffet with so much missing.
A one night stay with the following day to be a business meeting in one of their business rooms, went from bad to worse, with the only redeeming feature was that the bed was comfortable - until the morning and the evidence of bed bugs. I know things can and do go wrong in the hospitality business, but when, at check out, I explained the problems, myself and my colleagues incurred, in a clear and polite manner to the duty manager, having been passed on to her from the receptionist, she apologised and said that they would look into the incidents, start some investigations and get back to me. Five days later, I still have not heard anything. I gave my business card and wrote out my email and telephone number as requested. Seriously Malmaison? Lost booking, broken bath plug, broken bath spout, curtains which didn't close, wrong business pod, we were given one that we did not book, blown bulb in the pod, which, having only 4 bulbs, and no windows was a 25% light reduction in this particular room, no refreshments in the pod, the list goes on.... My first, and last impression of booking direct, and staying at the Malmaison Manchester was truly an unfortunate ordeal from beginning to end. Really disappointing.
Went for dinner and a few cocktails on the 11/11, food was outstanding and service was great, however the star of the show was the bar manager Michael, who went out his way to make my friend and I cocktails that were no longer on the menu
Stayed here one night. Funky but tasteful decor (but not too out there). We had a corner suite and it was massive with great facilities. It's right in the centre of town so easy to get to and to get about. Was a bit worried about street noise as was at the front of the hotel, but it was actually very quiet. The bar is pretty cool and lively and the cooked breakfast was good.
I booked this night in Manchester last minute, just to get away! (Usually stay in Abode ) Malmaison looked Lovely we upgraded to a corner suite , from the first impressions of the receptionist no smiles while booking us in , no interest in why we are there ? Basically just no interest generally!! . The rooms first impression was lovely but a few points the carpet was coming away on the entrance to bathroom. And the was NO mirror to do my makeup and hair with a plug !!! Really? Other than that the bar staff were very attentive, fab cocktails & a lovely atmosphere.
I returned for a two night stay to the Malmaisson in Manchester with real excitement, having had several good stays there over the years. We are leaving after just one night, as they habe "reimaged" the place, turning it from a quirky, top end and enjoyable place to stay, into a tacky, noisy, downmarket hotel, where nothing worked in our room and where it was not possible to get a proper breakfast via room service. It was also freezing throughout, with staff who clearly were not motivated in their job, or to serve.their guests. Thankfully we are off to am oasis of 5* calm elsewhere. Whoever is responsible for ruining the hotel, please do hang your head in shame.
Even the Standard rooms are lovely. Slightly worn in small area's but this was minimal. One of thee comfiest beds i have ever slept in, so soft. Mini bar was extortionatly priced. Bathroom was nice, with a big bath tub and good size complimentary toiletries. Good selection of tea and coffee including ground coffee in the rooms. Big flat screen TV. Rooms were very clean. Complimentary cocktails given to my date whos birthday it was.
Booked through Booking.Com, never stayed at a Malmaison before, and will definitely stay with them again. Excellent facilities, wonderful breakfast, we opted to pay extra for fully cooked breakfast & got a free cocktail included. Reception staff were so friendly and helpful and recognised us each time we approached reception, special thanks to Hannah.
I went for champagne afternoon tea with my mum this afternoon. The food was fab and the whole afternoon was lovely. I have to say the service we received from Milde was exceptional. She really made the trip.
Went here for Sunday Lunch with my wife, as it was early the restaurant wasn't busy. The lunch menu consists of soup, salad course and main meal. The soup and salad are buffet style and when you've finished them the waiter takes your main course order. The salad course is very comprehensive with the usual salad food plus smoked salmon, cooked meats etc. which were very good. The mains we had was roast beef cooked to your taste with buttered veg. and this was very tasty and well presented. Overall for just under £20per head this is really good value. Definitely will go back.
