Clayton Hotel, Manchester Airport

The hotel is in good shape. The rooms are decent but small. Food was good. Transportation to airport was very good. Nothing was outstanding either in a good or bad way.

Place was ok. Only thing I didn't like was shower was leaking and the room was like an oven

Advertised as 4-star hotel, but we're uncertain how they managed that rating. The bad: I'm in my mid-30s and the last refurbish was probably before I was born. The room smelled strongly of mold & mildew as soon as we opened the door, esp the bathroom, which hadn't been mopped, had a moldy shower curtain, & evidence of water damage in corner beside toilet. Shower curtain was so smelly that we tried not to touch it when showering. One of the bath towels had holes. No bath mat despite warning sign on tub to use bath mat for safety (ha!) Main room poorly vacuumed, dust around beds, desk needed a wash. Old uncomfortable mattresses. Only power outlets are by the desk. Heater is either on or off, and there's no A/C if you're going in the summer. No door deadbolt (that creeped me out a little). TV remote back was missing and the batteries were held in with electrical tape. No alarm clock. Layout of the hotel is strange - we were in the tower and there's a maze of corridors to get there, then a weird unheated elevator bank off to the side. In dire need of refurbishment and, in the meantime, proper cleaning. The good: surprisingly little airplane noise, shuttle buses were great (plentiful and on time), nice staff, good restaurant. Recommendation for potential guests: I expect more for the star rating and price. We've stayed at the Radisson Blu twice when flying out of Manchester. It's also 4-star, but nice. No complaints about the Radisson. Stay there instead!

Great location to airport. But very loud. You could hear the maids slamming the doors and talking while cleaning the rooms on the morning. Walls very thin. Other than that great place for one night.

We flew in to the airport and called for the shuttle, was told it would take about 10 mins. About that time, the shuttle shows up and we head to get on and almost weren't allowed as the driver wasn't aware of us. Then, we checked in (There are 4 of us in the family) and there was a cabinet for extra towels. As there were only 3 on the bathroom we thought that would be good. No, there were only pillows in the cabinet. I called the desk and asked for another towel and they said they woi is send one, never came so I had to share a towel with my son. When we had checked in, we had requested an airport shuttle at 8:45. Given their lack of fulfillment of precious asks, I called the desk in the morning and asked an hour in advance if there would be a shuttle for us and was ensured it would be. We get there and it was a mob of first come first serve where we again almost didn't get on a shuttle due to space if we hadn't have just stood out in the rain while the shuttle was being offloaded.

Room was dirty when I got there. All supplies not restocked, bed messy and room smelled like body odor. Hotel staff rude and nothing was included in the stay. Prices for food and drink too high for such a low standard. They continuously got my orders wrong. Phone was broken so I had to use personal phone to call the front desk and room service. Asked every single day for 3 days of my 5 day stay for a new phone and it was never replaced. I eventually had to ask a maid if I could switch it out with another room so I wouldn’t have to continue to use minutes.

No restaurant or stores near by. You are forced to buy from hotel restaurant and the food is not good. They have a fee for everything. The only convenience is it is actually across the street from airport.

Very handy to airport. Frequent large free airport shuttles.

The hotel has an odd layout but everything was fine. Service friendly, efficient.

The room was a little disappointing for a 4 star hotel. The beds were not very comfortable, and the rooms were furnished with very basic amenities. The room felt as though it hadn't been updated in years. There is no individual room climate control. The room was very quiet for as close to the airport, and road, that it is

We were greeted by a very pleasant staff. We got a free upgrade to a great room with a lovely view. The room was a little warm but we loved it. King sized bed...very comfy. We went down to the Bar for dinner. Food was terrible! I had a hamburger...the bun was 2x times the size of the meat and it tasted even worse. It was also cold. My husband had a cold sandwich and could barely chew it. We talked to the bartender but because it was closing nothing was done. :( Would I stay there again...yes. We would go elsewhere to eat.

In close proximity to Manchester Airport with free shuttle service. Lovely accommodation, clean and comfortable. Courteous and helpful hotel staff, from the front desk to the housekeeping staff to the restaurant personnel. Good food too!

This hotel is overpriced. It is on airport but is loaded with vacationers. Its rooms are clean but do not have air conditioning. I had "second hand smoke." The staff in the bar ignores customers until you go to the bar. The reception staff are slow. I do not recommend this property to Orbitz customers.

Traffic in the area meant that a 20 minute trip took 2 hours, so having the check-in be so quick and efficient and the staff helpful made a great start to the evening. A meal in the bar area was very tasty and the room was quite and comfortable. The free shuttle to the terminal was on time and the driver helpful and caring. A very good experience for me.

quite room with all services, could benefit from having in room tea/coffee maker

The hotel was very comfortable and quiet. I called to get a shuttle to the hotel from the train station, it took a little time but understood as other guests were being picked up from other locations. Check in and check out was very fast. The phone at the train station could be marked more clearly, thankful that my daughter told me where to look for it to request a ride to the hotel. Would stay again!

Good experience. Well located ! Clean and good value !

I just spent a night here before an early departure. Staff was nice, dinner is OK. Last time i got a much nicer room for same money, but was Ok.

Most hotel rooms are not air condition so windows are open with loud noise from planes taking off. Beds are marginal.

Nice hotel with pleasant, efficient staff. Shuttle drivers are particularly friendly and seem genuinely concerned with getting you where you need to be. Noticed some room upgrades since I was last there. Big plus that airport/train shuttles are free, speedy, and reliable. Will stay there again.
