Staff absolutely wonderful. Beautiful bar area. The room which was described as executive twin was abit disappointing. More of a standard twin. It was on the top floor so had slanted roof, small windows and on the small side. But comfy beds and great shower.

We had such a special stay at the Midland. We live in Greater Manchester but decided to stay over after a show for a birthday treat. Can honestly say that we will definitely do this again. Loved sitting at the lobby bar. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were amazing . Loved it.

Stay at the midland once a year at this time for 1 night - great location - just wish you still did the valet parking. Elemis toiletries are great and towels in good condition. Very clean room / just looking a bit tired now - our ceiling light (room 619) had a massive dent in it. Good breakfast - will stay again no problem 😉

Hotel is brilliant but our bedroom shower is massive let down. Kept dropping down so had to be held all the time, with shower screen not positioned to stop water from going all over floor. What a mess!

The hotel and room were both great, the only let down was the bathroom. To put it simply, my bathroom at home was cleaner than the one in the hotel. The shower door was mouldy at the bottom and the bathroom generally needed a face lift.

Never got there. Significant disruption on trains due to power outage at Stafford. Train operators advising not to travel. Rang hotel to see what options, cancellation, rearrange date, part refund, etc , Response? Nothing to with them as booked through third party, ie Hotels.com. Reached out to Hotels.com, who to be fair were exceptionally empathetic and tried to arrange a refund from the hotel. Hotel, who previously stated that nothing to do with them, refused. I appreciate the argument that it was not the hotels fault. It wasn’t. I appreciate they have overheads and staff to pay. But if this is what their customer service is like, may have been fortuitous that we did not stay. Ironically, automatic ‘please review your stay’ emails dropping in regularly. For me, service is judged on response when things don’t go right. In this instance, the response from the hotel was poor.

Room was perfect, staff were super friendly and professional. The food and spa are amazing and location is within walking distance to the Christmas markets, bars, restaurants and shops. It’s out 5th visit and we would recommend to anyone.

Great hotel, I’ve stayed here many times. The bed was a little small on this occasion. There was a coffee machine, which I appreciate. My girlfriend thought the room was dusty (in the wardrobe) and the sink slightly blocked. She also needed an adaptor, which they couldn’t lend her, only sell. Breakfast was fine but could have been better, the vegetarian sausages in particular were terrible - like something from the 80s. I stay at 40-50 hotels a year and checkout at 11am is unacceptable (although they gave us an extra 30 minutes). The Manchester city tax is annoying. One of Manchester’s oldest hotels, a good sense of occasion, but room for improvement.
