Had an absolutely lovely stay at this hotel. Only spent one night here but would have loved to stay longer. Large, comfy rooms, excellent breakfast selection, and the beautiful interior were the highlights. Highly recommended!
A one night stay to encompass New Year's Eve Sparkle Ball dinner preceded by afternoon tea with breakfast on New Year's Day. This was a very well organised event, with good food, service, and entertainment. An especial commendation for the dinner kitchen staff who provided hot beautifully cooked steak to all 12 on our table, and from other's comments all at the dinner (about 400?). If I was to be nit picky my only comment criticism was the queue to check in to the room. Well done The Midland.
A great weekend in a beautiful building. Grand, cosy, alliance of the old and new. All the staff was very friendly, discrete, very smiley! Special thanks to the maintenance guy who explained how to get from the mezzanine floor to reception (I did not get lost) and Steve Norris, who was exceptionally helpful. Thank you Steve!
Resourcefulness that changed a potential disaster into a triumph. Top hat also. Great service in a stunning historic building central to everything you might need in Manchester. Thank you Steve Norris especially. Would recommend a stay in this hotel to anyone...
Stayed here with family for 2 nights over New Year’s including the gala ball, hotel and room was lovely, the room was warm and we kept the noisy air conditioning on, it never stopped us sleeping, in fact we were so relaxed we slept lots, pillows on the bed are very soft, to soft and most of our party had stiff necks due to this, but we never asked for different ones. Afternoon tea was lovely, lots of choice my eyes were bigger than my belly! Gala night was fantastic best new year we have seen in for a while, the entertainment got everyone up dancing between courses with out effort, we needed a bigger dance floor as we were all dancing between the tables. Food was great, New Year’s Day was perfect to lazy in the spa recovering from the night before, would highly recommend.
Fabulous service from Donna and Emma at The midland hotel we were performing there on 5 January as a Motown show. They were so helpful. Thank you from all of us Soulstars/Princes of Motown .Hopefully we will see you at another event
This was our second Christmas at the Midland. With two children (10 and 15) with us, my wife and I took the time to call ahead and find out what room was best for us. Thanks to Richard (night shift, at hotel's reception) we booked a junior twin with 2 double beds plus sofa bed. Much more economical than getting 2 rooms, but a lot more spacious than a regular room. The rooms and lobby/restaurant/lounge have been modernized within this famous old hotel. We found everything very clean although you should expect the odd creaky floorboard! The staff were amazingly helpful throughout our stay.. Very friendly indeed. Our deal included breakfast which was always very busy but was well managed at all times and there was a great selection of hot and cold foods. The lobby/lounge is a great place to people watch while enjoying a beer or coffee, and the food there is great too. We will be back!
Booked a superior twin. Clean and well serviced. Small niggles were the rumbling A.C. and the chlorine in the complementary bottled water. Hotel packed with interest and the central location gave easy access to local facilities. Staff were very helpful and the concierges in particular were well informed regarding history of the hotel and the environs
We stayed for two nights and were upgraded to a King Suite which was a lovely surprise! The room was a very good size and kept very clean. I would highly recommend visiting the bar at the midland, very nice atmosphere for relaxing drinks.
lovely hotel, we used the spa which was beautiful, staff very attentive, fab breakfast which was included in our price. perfectly situated for shops and restaurants, a perfect place for our christmas break
