We arrived early and decided to have a drink in the lounge area. Waiters came and went. Asked other people if they needed anything and in the end we had to flag one down. It was my birthday and I decided to have one of the advertised cocktails. As we had waited 15 minutes before getting a waiters attention, I was looking forward to the cocktail, a strawberry daiquiri. The waitress eventually returned to say they were out of strawberries! Unbelievable. We eventually were shown into the tea room. It was fully booked and unfortunately we were behind a screen. I think it was really a corridor. The sandwiches were uninspiring but the cakes and scones were good. The waiters were attentive, but we had to catch someone’s eye in order to get jam with the scones. I don’t think I will go again

We stayed as we were visiting our lovely wedding planners (Sonho a Dois). The valet parking was a good option and cost £30 for 24 hrs and was convenient. No problems checking in, it was fast and efficient and friendly. They offered help with our luggage which we were fine with. They explained about breakfast (as we were B&B). The room was massive and well equipped with the standard hair dryer, toiletries, tea and coffee, etc. Bed very large and comfortable! Can't comment on dinner as we ate at Red's Barbecue down the road (because we are not from the area and wanted to try it!). Lots of shops nearby. The breakfast was delicious.. Lots to choose from and very attentive to us. Check out easy and efficient too so all in all a great stay.. thanks!

Although the room was very nice and the free upgrade much appreciated, overall, I was very disappointed with the service. When I arrived with lots of luggage, there was nobody to even open the door, never mind help with my cases. Service in the bar is very slow and the food I had was nothing remotely special. Some of the staff are very professional and helpful, others do not seem to care in the slightest. I phoned down for help with my luggage before I checked out, but nobody came. And there was no offer of help to a taxi, or even to open the door. Also, if you want anything like Eggs Benedict, you have to pay a supplement on top of the cost of breakfast. I was rather surprised by this, as usually, it is part of your breakfast choice? The location is excellent and the rooms are very clean, but I would not choose to stay here again. I prefer the hotel just down the road from this one.

Stayed overnight for a conference - absolutely stunning hotel inside. Rooms were comfortable and what you'd expect from Q-hotels. Dining was good, and able to accommodate to gluten free. Would stay for a personal trip in a great city-centre location!

I Recently visited the refurbished Midland for a social occasion to be warmly greeted by Paul Pinner who as is his usual practice left no stone unturned in making our visit a very pleasant experience. Paul exercises professionalism, care and a friendly manner in equal measure a very pleasing combination, ensuring once again our visit was special. Lynn

Had a 2 night stay here and found the hotel as good as any we have stayed in for a city centre break. Spacious throughout, wonderful old building but well restored to modern standards. Nice room, 3 easy chairs and comfortable bed. Not too hot which is often the case. Very good breakfast, didn't try the restaurant but had well prepared cocktails in the bar. And very friendly staff throughout the hotel. Great location right by the city centre.

For my boyfriends 30th birthday, I booked an overnight spa break at The Midland. From start to finish the visit was flawless, at reception the staff were lovely, the hotel room was exceptional, with a handwritten note and cake wishing my boyfriend a Happy 30th Birthday. At 2.30 we went to the spa and had a treatment each. The staff, again, were very welcoming and our treatments were fab! The facilities were to a very high standard and we felt very indulged! We enjoyed a delicious evening meal in Mr Coopers and nothing was too much for the staff, all were so friendly and helpful. We were made to feel special throughout the trip and will most definitely be visiting again. Thank you so much for a most pleasant stay!

Stayed for one night at this very lovely hotel. Check in was straight forward - the lady whose name I can’t remember was very polite and a credit to the hotel. The twin room my sister & I had was lovely and spacious. Very friendly staff throughout - special mention to Paul Pinna who made us as customers feel valued. Will definitely stay here again. I stay regularly in central Manchester and have stayed at many of the well known hotel, however I had not yet stayed at the iconic Midland. We stayed here for a little treat as it is quite on the pricey side. We checked in a 11am and were allocated a room which was a very welcome surprise to get in to the room so promptly. Unfortunately this was one of the few good points about the hotel. Drinks in the Lounge bar were fine, but its very dark and feels like you are in the hotel foyer. not much glamour there really. The drinks were nice but the wine was overpriced at £11.00 for a basic Merlot per glass. The room was fine, I've stayed in much more luxurious for much less of the price, plus areas needed serious refreshment, like the bathroom ceiling and the chipped paintwork (rm 354). But the worst was yet to come... We had to queue for breakfast for 30 minutes!!! I am aware it is a busy hotel but surely they have a back up plan for those busy times? Once we did get seated we were on the smallest table in the world, shoved so close to the wall that we could not possibly move your elbow at one side and half of our breakfast items had to be placed on the wall next to use to accommodate our plates. The breakfast was fine, no fried eggs, awful bland scrambled. They slopped freshly cooked food into the serving trays, which made me feel quite queasy and they had quite possibly the smallest juice glasses ever produced, therefore repeating the process of walking through the chaos of the buffet several times over. Not impressed really and severely underwhelmed after so looking forward to our stay

Stayed at the Midland hotel in Manchester it was the 2nd March it was cold and freezing we had just got back from Gretna green after getting married. The room that was given to us was a lovely room the only problem was the heating in the room was not working went to reception told them and they got the heating working straight away. The about 45 minutes later it packed up again so we spent out honey moon in a freezing room. Few days later got a email from the Midland hotel to take part in a survey the manager is Andrew Krawec General Manager completed the survey and told then about the heating no response.
