Have been travelling for 6 weeks and stayed at varied places along the way. This rates at, or near the bottom. It's website makes everything look lovely. It's deceptive. On arrival they informed us that we'd been 'upgraded' to a two bedroom apartment instead of the suite booked. The two ged room apartment is appalling. One bedroom has no windows. The dinning room has a window, with no natural light that opens onto a damp, crappy plumbing conduit area (see pic). The kitchen area has no window. The main bedroom has a window!! Great! Except it opens onto a deck to the main road and foot path, so it's not usable and it's extremely noisy. The aircon works, but you can't hear each other it's so noisy. The 'resort' is the EasyJet of resorts. Everything costs extra. Want to use the in room safe - that's extra €€. Want to watch TV - that's extra €€. Want to print out two pages - that's extra €€. Want to use the pool there's a 5€ deposit for the towel. No big deal, except on Sunday they don't have a towel delivery, so they don't have any. Not a once off occurrence - every Sunday! I would have thought that you might order extra in the day before to cover Sunday. But no, that would be too easy. The room has a damp smell. Persistently. The toilet seat actually doesn't fit the toilet. The shower curtain is too small for the shower. The balcony has done shonky 'pit' in it. Unless you put all the lights on you are in pitch black darkness! The bed is comfy tho! The only positive thing to say. I'd avoid room 110. I'd avoid this hotel.
I had read many reviews, both very positive or negative beforehand and didn't really know what to expect. Our experience was mitigated, with some very good and some very bad aspects: Good: - Staff is smily, very helpful and easy going. - Probably not worst than any other hotels in that area which is perfect if you like concrete, dirty roads, sun-burned tourists and greezy hamburgers. So, picking that hotel was not the wrong choice, it is rather picking that area that was a mistake. Bad: - Location: stucked between a road where there is always traficand the neighbourhood trash containers. - swimming pool: busy, noisy, packed. - inside restaurant: managed by an independant, they serve very basic breakfast, they should really make them look better: industrial jam, yougurts, chocolate,... Ask for cheese and you will receive a melted cheese in a bag. - That bed sheet with a blood mark i read about in a comment of someone that sounded horrified: still there, still in use.
Myself and my family are currently staying here, what an absolutely beautiful hotel, huge rooms, friendly staff, an amazing sea view from one of our 4 balconies! !! Have never visited malta before, will definitely be coming back, super friendly people, clear sea, just beautiful.
This aparthotel truly is terrible so please believe the poor reviews. I have travelled A LOT, visiting many different countries but I’ve never had an experience like this. I know people don’t like to read long reviews so I’ll keep it short: The mattresses, pillows and linen are awful. They all smell of sweat as clearly they are so old and need replacing but the hotel obviously doesn’t care. I asked for a change of pillows and the receptionist was completely unwilling to help. The furniture is very old too, almost falling apart and needs replacing. The balcony doors (two of them) had no locks on them so could easily be opened from the outside and when I complained about this I was told that being on the third floor was safe as Malta is a safe place – not really the point when you’re a paying customer! The road the hotel is on is REALLY noisy so absolutely no chance of relaxing – I think even if you had a sea view room you would still hear the traffic. The reception staff and manager (Lillian) were particularly unhelpful, it’s as if you’re an inconvenience to them. The sauna wasn’t working. Also on the second morning there was a power cut that lasted quite a while and then on the third morning the fire alarm went off at 9am! When lots of guests walked down stairs we were told they were testing it and nothing to worry about but no apology etc!!
Recently came back from Malta and during our stays we chose Sunny coast as our accommodation. From my experience I found this hotel very good. We had a nice sea view room. We had stayed in an apartment room which obviously was big and spacious. Nice good kitchen with a seating area. The room were very bright as the natural sun lights coming in. The beds were big and very comfy. The only thing I would want to mention is there were no tea, coffee and milk sachets although we had a kettle. Overall a nice beautiful convenient hotel with good AC and bathroom amenities and a very friendly staffs. I enjoyed my stay and looking forward in the near future again. Good luck to the team.
Our apartment was quite big , pool area was nice including pool, friendly staff, bad points are you have to wait till 4pm to check in and check out by 10am , and our room had broken safe we had to wait 5 days for new one
Been visting this Lido for 7 years and was very disappointed this year that they only offer a daily rate or yearly. Also prices have risen even tho you can no longer have a bed and umbrella down the sea front. Doesn't make sense! Also miss Libby she was always a friendly face, new staff need to learn to smile and be polite.
The hotel itself is very nice with marble floors and friendly reception staff. The room we had was very small for a 2 bedroom that is supposed to sleep up to 6. The room had only 4 chairs at the table and there was only a 2 seater sofa, so there was no where for everyone to relax together. The room also had a balcony which faced onto a wall of the restaurant next door so wasn't somewhere nice to sit. The room had a TV and we requested a DVD player for the children which was provided free of charge. The rooms can also have a microwave if you request it but we didn't need one. There are two pools (one indoor and one outdoor) and a small children splash area. The indoor pool is part of the spa and has limited times that children can enter and is "fresh" water. The outdoor pools are all salt water, we knew this when we booked and didn't think it would be bad. We were wrong, the kids hated it and it aggravated one of our childs eczema. Which was a shame as we really planned to spend the entire time by the pool. The pool has staff constantly going around making sure that there are no inflatables in the pool but they don't stop people from dropping towels off first thing in the morning and not coming back until the afternoon, even when it was pointed out they didn't care. If you like your children to be around people smoking, dropping ash and cigarettes on the floor, this is the pool for you.
Today was our last day at the resort and I must say it was a horrible experience. The hotel staff particularly Charmaine has the worst customer service skills I have ever experienced. Very cold and unwelcoming. When we arrived the rooms were much more smaller than expected. The lounge area was so small that the dining table obstructed the TV as it had to be place right opposite it! We asked for a room upgrade the following day and had to wait got hours to get the room! The pool, gym and other facilities are in another building and do you had to walk across to access. It was always full to capacity as the general public also had access. There are no washing machines or dish washer and so we washed plates by hand and travelled 1.8 miles to pay for laundry service. Lion Laudrette is great BTW. The sea view was ok, would have been better if the parked cars and the volume of people walking in front of the hotel wasn't also in view This is certainly not a 4 star. Maybe a 3 star at the very most but we certainly paid 4star Prices. Check out is at 10am which is earlier than most hotels we've stayed and because of our late flight we asked for a late check out and they promptly charged us a whooping €180! If you are used to good service, clean hotels and good sorroundings this is not a place to stay.
Myself and my now husband and some of our bridal party stayed here while we were in Malta to get married. We arrived to a complimentary taxi as we booked through the Ax rewards (highly recommended) only trouble there was one taxi for 5 of us. Some had to wait behind for another taxi, bit disappointing but the hotel were very apologetic when I explained what happened. We had a one bed sea view room the view across the sea was amazing. The room itself was very spacious we got the small welcome pack which i thought was great value and recommended after a long say travelling you can make a cup of tea and some food. The pool area was lovely can be a busy most of the time but you could always get a bed. The reception staff are lovely and welcoming no queries were too much. Will definitely stay here again and recommend you spend a little extra for the sea view
