This hotel is simply breathtaking. The staff are very helpful and very interested to help. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The 24 hour bar is a nice plus, for those of us who like a night cap. The hotel is in a very nice location and in walking distance from a vast amount of activities, shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for three nights, lovely hotel, had a sea view room, food was great, staff very friendly and nothing too much for them when asked. Very clean and spacious, bed was comfortable and facilities very good. Nice location for shops and restaurants. Would definately go back soon.

I stayed at this hotel for five days. It was my second time in Malta. The hotel occupies an enviable location overlooking the water right near the city of Valletta yet within walking distance of other areas. Check in was a breeze - staff very efficient and pleasant. The room on third floor was spacious with decent bathroom suite and plenty of closet space. Chocolates and still water bottles were supplied which was a nice touch. Sleep was a wonderful - very comfortable bed. Breakfast was simply incredible: Loads of selection of well presented tasty food. One could seriously put on weight from it! Staff were attentive and polite too. The swim area was very nice. The pool was slightly too cool to enjoy but simply relaxing in the November sun at the pool was in itself great. I ventured to use the solarium and was however disappointed that as a hotel guest to use the sauna I’d be charged €15 per day. Most annoying when I paid no small fee to stay at the Excelsior frankly. It’s not the amount but the principle. And it’s the only reason this hotel didn’t get full marks. Cmon management. You can do better as regards this charge.

Our room was on the 7th floor with a beautiful view of the harbor. Although we didn't know it at the time of booking, the hotel was ideally located for our activities - a short walk to the gate of Valletta and very convenient for catching buses to all points of the island. We had the opportunity to chat at length with a number of members of the concierge staff, including Melissa and Marvic, as well as one of the marketing professionals (Brian?) - they were eager to get our impressions of the hotel, the island as a destination, our trip experiences. We were celebrating our 35th anniversary over the course of our stay - we found goodies in our room, a card thoughtfully signed by the concierge staff, and towel "swans" on the bed. The breakfast spread was downright decadent and the service overall was beyond our expectations.

We stayed here for four nights early inNovember 2017. This is a very large hotel but very well run with excellent service and facilities. It is located just outside the city, about a ten minute walk to all the sights, shops and restaurants of Valletta. It has an indoor and outdoor pool, ( free towels) spa and Gym and beautiful views from the restaurants . The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. WiFi is free and very fast and the staff are extremely helpful. We got two free water bottles everyday, very welcome as it was warm. We ate out so did not use the restaurant in the evening but the breakfast was great, huge choice of cold and hot food, salad, cereals, fruit, cheeses, bread etc. We would definitely stay here again, well done Excelsior, fabulous stay, thank you.

We don’t normally go for large hotels when on holiday but decided to go for this one and we were not disappointed. It is large and even in November, pretty busy and full. However, our room was a good size and nicely appointed. Good sized bed and nice bathroom. The heavy duvet was a bit much for us even in November but that is personal preference. Breakfast was very busy but there was plenty of choice and everything I had was tasty if a little tepid in temperature sometimes. A bit cold to go in the pool but the area seemed nice and we did sit next to it a couple of times. We didn’t eat in the hotel or use the spa or gym so can’t comment on that. Parking is in an underground garage. A short walk into Valletta.

We stayed here for two weeks while we were in Malta getting married. We did not get married at the hotel but stayed here throughout. We had one of the deluxe sea view rooms (not sure of the exact term) which are on the very flat tip of the hotel so we were directly above the water with view across the harbor - the view was spectacular. The pool was off to our right and we could see it partially but it meant that even in the middle of the day it was quiet sitting on the balcony. The room itself was great - good size and good amenities and more than big enough to accommodate hair and make up people as well as family and a photographer on the wedding day. The hotel lobby and bar area definitely had a wow factor and this was great for some of my wedding photos. The corridors and rooms were well furnished and accessorized. The only issue I had was that on approach to the hotel the walls on the back of the hotel and rooms that faced that way needed cleaning and somewhat detracted from the otherwise impressive approach and exterior. The hotel is located very close to Valetta city walls and most days we walked into the City for food or shopping, despite the heat wave it did not feel far and it was amazing to be able to step out the door and see Valetta so easily. On the wedding day itself the hotel really made it special, they sent up champagne and chocolates to my family, bridemaids and I who were getting ready in the hotel, they stopped people using certain parts of the hotel so that I could get pictures and rolled out the red carpet for me. They also decorated our room after the wedding and these touches really made the day and our time there very special. They had also looked after my dress for me so it could hang properly away from my husband! We had breakfast included at the hotel and ate at the bar and/or pool restaurant a coupe of times during our stay and only had good experiences. The food portions were more than generous and although they were "hotel prices" they were worth the money and tasted great. Overall, we had a really great stay and would highly recommend the hotel!

P&O cruise booked us into this Hotel for a 2 night stay after our cruise. The facilities were great and it was a shame we did not have the time to try out the pool and surrounding bar areas. The Breakfast service was efficient with a wide selection to choose from the buffet style breakfast. The location is central so could easily walk to the main attractions and town centre in the evening

Attended for a week in October. An ok hotel but not 5 star. Does not come near 5 star. Outside walls filthy, fixtures dated, staff on door to greet guests some friendly others downright obnoxious. Staff in lounge need customer relations training. Arrived at 11.30am despite requested early check in due to flights and this agreed got room at 3.30pm. Upon leaving the hotel grounds at the top of the step mountain the exit is on to a main road. No pedestrian path or pavement. Extremely dangerous. Good points room servicing very good and cleaning staff friendly. Pools very good and spa a delight with wide ranging treatment options. Overall we had a good holiday but 3 star hotel not 5 due to staff attitudes and my experience of other 5 star hotels

Third visit now , nice atmosphere , nice indoor outdoor pools , nice buffet , great location Hard to fault Beautiful view from pool area over the harbour Maybe bar a little expensive but ok Staff on the whole wonderful
