We were there with family in January this year. Second visit for us. Yes, it isn't Denerau, (which we didn't want - prefer a more authenic Fiji experience). Why do guests leave valuables and cash in their rooms, the safes are there for a reason! If you go there with a high expectation, you will be disappointed. But for us, we just go to relax and go with the flow. Beautiful location makes up for any niggles you might have, hope other guests agree with me.
After myself and my family pouring 40k NZ into this holiday half way though it my room was robbed by the cleaning staff !!! With my wallet with all my cards an $1700 cash was taken along with Jewelry !!!! With a value over $4000 Just to make thing worst the customer service manager was absolutely Rude and handled the situation incredibly Wrong !!!! I DONT recommend staying in this resort unless you wanta get robbed. SHAME ON YOU PLANTATION ISLAND RESORT 😡😡😡😡😡
Was there in August for a wedding with my wife and daughter. Had a lovely time. Staff very friendly. Stayed in a garden bure. Nice enough, only in there to shower and sleep. Lots of things to do, plenty of water activities etc if that's your thing or just kick back on the beach with a nice cocktail. Overall a lovely holiday and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
There are many raving reviews and before booking our holiday I accepted not everyone can be pleased and if you love this place this review is definitely not for you. This was our second holiday in Fiji, our expectations were modest and what we most looked forward to was the warm Fijian nature. Let me make it abundantly clear I dit not take my concerns up with anyone at the resort as a passive aggressive attitude runs deep there and I did not want to spoil what little we managed to salvage from our holiday. I will only raise my major concerns, kids club, communal facilities that are beyond run down and a gastro bug. An incident occurred at kids club where a child was smacked, another family approached us to ask if our daughter observed this and if she was there for the “morning meeting” where the children were told they would be smacked if they didn’t listen. Initially I laughed it off but to pacify the parents I called our daughter over to ask if this was true and she said yes mum, they did tell us this and a smack or two were handed out. At dinner we were questioned by another concerns parent as our child is older than the others involved. All in all more than 4 groups raised the same concerns since returning I took this issue up with our travel agent who in turn took it up with the powers that be. All of the above were strongly denied and it was said no incident occurred on the specific day our day was there, this was her one and only time there for obvious reasons and the parents who approached us there said they did report the incident and that they would asking other children who were there that day. Most deck chairs are damaged to the point that it is unsafe to use, pool tiles are loose and thrown around by children around the pool, swings / hammocks are full of holes and generally just in need of replacement. The rest rooms close to the food court is dirty, smell so bad that you gag upon entering and the whole area and staff are serviced by two toilets in the ladies room. Other facilities are shared with the kids club, this brings me to the gastro bug that has been denied since May, again read previous reviews and you will see mention is made there of. We took extra care to ensure our hands are sanitized and washed often yet this didn’t help, the bug still made an appearance leaving our daughter terribly unwell. Once we did complain about a cocktail that was just terrible drinks were grabbed out of our hands and returned all grubby with some unknown substance on them with our waiter saying there is nothing wrong here is your drinks back. In the ladies room there was exposed electrical wires, the roof of the main communal area was covered with a tarp and sections look structurally unsound, please feel free to once again read previous reviews. In our unit the bedside lamp wasn’t properly secured to the wall once again wires exposed. The shower hardly worked at a trickle and the toilets flushed one moment and then not. The response from plantation island was just what we expected if you read through other low ratings on this page you will see how serious any complaints are taken. I felt compelled to share our experience as I felt duped by the promotional pictures that isn’t the reality of what you get. The natural beauty is astonishing but the resort is a 2/10 at best.
This was our 3rd time back to Plantation with our 2 kids ages 6 & 10 & it was brilliant - so much to do with the water activities & pools that are on offer. The Snorkelling just off the beautiful beach is fantastic. The Bula bikes are a must for getting around the island. We were invited to the returnees cocktail party & that was great to hear from the Manager all the up & coming changes to the resort. It’s also great to hear that Plantation are funding the coral replanting programme outside the resort. Food was good & we especially enjoyed the curry night. All the staff were friendly & helpful - special thank you to Una for cleaning our room each day ! Only one wee niggle the toilets closest to the buffet Resturant desperately need upgrading !
Fantastic family holiday destination with very friendly helpful staff. Black coral is an nice restaurant well worth checking out. The resort also have bike of all sizes to hire including bikes with baby/kids seats to enable to whole family to go biking. For adult time arrange a baby sitter and adults can head over to Lamani resort for chill out time next to pool.
If you want to enjoy warm clear waters, you need to escape Nadi or Denarau and head out to the islands. I would definitely recommend Plantation Island Resort. The check in is very seemless (drop your bags when you check in on the Malolo cat and they magically appear outside your room on the island). There are so many daily activities and things to do, such as the Lomani lookout, grab a Bula bike and tour the island or head over to Musket cove. But the place to be is the waterfront, where there a many free water activities, such as kayaks, hobi cat, windsurfer, paddle boards and the amazing kids inflatable water parks. Even adults can jump on those (although adults are restricted to the blue and yellow park, whilst only children are allowed on the red and blue one). Just one tip; keep an eye on what you charge back to the room. Most areas don't take cash, so you end up charging everything back and then on check-out, have a sizeable account to settle. But even the check-out process is amazing simple, where you just leave your bags outside your room and they magically appear back at Denarau port, when you arrive back on the mainland. Would definitely recommend this as an amazing family place, to relax and enjoy yourself.
Plantation Island was so welcoming for the get go, we arrived to workers singing and putting beautiful shell necklaces over our heads, after check in and a briefing we were shown our rooms. The Pool Side room was massive for 2 people, it was amazing. Only down side for my partner and I was the bed was rock hard, but that didn't stop us. Every worker you saw had a smile on their face and greeted you with such warmth. Everyone was so kind and loving. They loved our nieces and nephews to the point of remembering their names! The pools were all great and the beach is beautiful. We dined at the Ol' Copra Shed most nights, with so many different variety's each night. One of the nights we dined at the Black Coral, the food was outstanding, but the waiting around for food when there are young children became almost not worth it. Understandably there were 18 of us including the kids, but when a reservation is made for that number, you'd hope they'd be somewhat prepared. Snorkeling is amazing. We hired just from the guys at the shack near the beach and off we went. It was all so beautiful and calming. The Local Market day was amazing, purchasing items you know will help these locals. I really loved Plantation and I cannot wait to return again. Vinaka !!
We arrived on the last ferry into Plantation and were greeted by a welcome and a very friendly reception team. We stayed on the beautiful island for 5 nights and wished we had stayed more! All the staff especially the Kids Club staff were super friendly and took the time to learn the kids name and make them feel very welcome. Most activities are free and the pools are great. Food is good but expensive as you would expect out on an Island. We stayed in a garden bure which was better then expected for a three star! We liked the place so much we have already booked to head back next year.
We had fabulous warm relaxing sunny with enough gentle clouds now and again to assist us to acclimatise from the freezing weather we left behind in NZ. Facitities and crews provided cheerful, entertaining, teaching enviro with lots to do out of the main stream. Great place to bond with family and other similar aged group families from different cultures and homelands. Food ok, kids certainly enjoyed basically everything. To and from the Island was easy with basically zero Stress also. Few different options for food at other close locations good for older generation also. Pools I found great as well, nice and warm but not to hot. Best recommendation from me is if I was asked if I would go back the answer would be a big YEP.
