***** Location: close to Trianceln st., two parks and Theater. *** Price: Midrange. But hostels in Sweden r also pricey. So good altern. **** Staff: Friendly, helpful, informative. Let us keep beer in fridge ** Amenities: Had wifi, but no AC nor fan. Room was quite hot **** Breakfast: Variety ok; toaster & wafflemaker a plus. Fresh products. Overal score: 71%. Small things like fans in the room and small fridge could bring it up score without mayor price impact. But still recommend. Room was nice, clean, no weird smells. Liked the slightly retro minimally mexican color scheme of bed linnens. Bed overhead light was way to bright. Almost twice as much as ceiling lamp Tips: if you come may 1 - oktober 1, get room to the east side. The street view is duller than the terrace, but rooms will not get really hot in the afternoon. Or bring own fan.
Teaterhotellet is very close to Malmö Opera, Triangeln shopping center and the underground railway station Triangeln. There are two entrances/exits to the hotel, one at the postal address von Fersens väg 20 and another one at the other side of the block in Rönngatan 5B, which is closest to Triangeln Station and where the reception and the lift are situated. The connection between the exits is a long corridor smartly disguised as the breakfast room. If you board any “Öresundståg” train bound for Sweden from Copenhagen Central Station (København Hovedbanegård) or Copenhagen Airport train station you will pass over the waters of Öresund on The Bridge famous from the television series by that name. All Öresundståg will stop at Triangeln station just before driving on to Malmö C (Malmö Central Station). When you get off the train at Triangeln just follow in the direction of the disappearing train to find the north exit. The escalators will take you up to the ground where you cross over and turn to the left into S:t Johannesgatan. Then turn right into the pass way with a little park (Magistratsparken) on your left and houses on your right. The pass way ends at the busy Östra Rönneholmsvägen, which you need to cross and follow to the left to find the first right Rönngatan where you’ll find the entrance to Teaterhollet on the left. Malmö Central Station used to be only a terminal station until the tunnel connection to the south was built. You will find the connections from Malmö C to Triangeln by the local trains Öresundståg and Pågatåg “down under” at platform 1 or 2. Buy your local ticket from vending machines or in advance included with your train ticket by giving Malmö town area as your destination. NB, that the SJ (state railway) trains to Copenhagen do not stop at Triangeln Station! At earlier visits to Malmö I always stayed close Malmö C but at this occasion I wanted to be close to Malmö Opera so I l found the reasonably priced Teaterhotellet. The lift that took me up to my room was made up to look like a proper theatre saloon. My room had a good size, was nicely decorated and properly cleaned. The bed was very comfortable with bedside table and reading light. There was a table, an easy chair, a floor lamp, a chest of drawers, a working table with chair, telephone and table lamp and a flat screen TV. I did not try the free Wi-Fi. In the little hallway I found a hair drier, an iron and a small ironing board! The bathroom beside was spotlessly clean with tiled white walls and brightly lit. The rooms looked out to either the inner yard or the small alley Rönngatan so there was not much of a view but you can expect a good night’s undisturbed sleep. The breakfast buffet was traditional and included all necessities as salad, fresh fruit, berries, muesli, flakes, youghurt, a choice of bread, ham, liver pate, marinated herrings, pickled vegetables, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice and more. The hot stuff was sausages, meat balls and scrambled egs. You won’t go hungry from this breakfast. I liked the location and slept like a log so I enjoyed my one night stay at Teaterhotellet.
This hotel is called the theatre hotel which is quite OK since it is extremely close to the city theatre and opera house. It is also close to the art museum and the nice park Pildamsparken. Also, the shopping mall Triangeln is not that far away and on the other side of it you can get the train to Kastrup airport and the rest of Copenhagen. The hotel is a dream for people that like the design of the twentieth fifties. The hotel itself looks as it has been built at that time and not changed very much since then. This means that the bathrooms are quite old fashioned and not very attractive for other people but nostalgias, and you must take your shower in a bathtub with very high sides. The furniture is also mostly from the same time. So, the beds are very narrow and interior in the rooms is quite dull. The breakfast is served in a narrow corridor at the ground floor. The breakfast itself is OK but barely that. The only extra is the possibility to squeeze your own orange juice and bake you waffles. The disadvantage with the former is that you get very warm juice sine no ice is available, and the oranges are not chilled. I cannot recommend this hotel to others but nostalgies, and perhaps to visitors to the theatre and opera with not that high demands on hotel standards. Buy the way the theatre building is another experience from the twentieth fifties.
The room was clean but definitely needed updating. There was a string unpleasant smell emanating from the drain in the toilet and the room smelled of cigarette smoke every time someone lit up outside. There was a good variety at breakfast but hot food was only kept tepid. Yes it was a budget hotel but I still wouldn't stay here again.
We stayed two nights here because it was well situated. Three stars might be half a star too much. However, price/quality was quite ok. Rooms are old and worn out but relatively clean. Bed and shower were ok. Breakfast was average. Parking was problematic but some 300 meters away there was a parking area.
Very good location close to city centre, Triangeln (trains and busses) and Möllevången. Alright rooms and beds. Good breakfast including waffles and some vegan stuff. Quite noisy and wifi did barely reach our room.
Friendly helpful reception staff, clean spacious room, quiet surrounds and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was continental and superb, more relaxed stay will be hard to find. Total value for the price I paid. Will return on next trip to Malmo.
Arrived at 10.00h in the morning from the Netherlands and although check in time is at 14.00h I got the room right away. Excellent service, nice staff, good spacious room and a good location to discover Malmö
This is a simple hotel, rooms are compact and facilities not extensive. However, there are so many pluses that make it a great option for travellers. Excellent location near city centre and the Opera Very comfortable beds with good quality bedding - a great night's sleep Well appointed bathroom and plenty of hot water and great shower Excellent breakfast with an excellent choice - it kept me going all day, no need to buy lunch which is a great saving as eating out in Sweden is very expensive! Good connectivity with wi fi Such helpful staff, nothing too much trouble A little hotel that is well worth the price!
I stayed her for 2 nights in june 2016. I found the service to be great, the rooms were comfortable and quiet. The breakfast buffe lacked nothing. Very healthy and a good variety. I was very happy with how helpful and attentive the personel were. And it was not expensive, so definetly worth it and I would gladly choose this hotel the next time I come to Malmö.
