I booked direct with the hotel and got a poor allocation of a room. a cold drinks machine outside the bedroom window and right at the entrance. Our patio was in open view of the entrance so really not private and people at the bar can see into our apartment with the curtains open. Saying that after a complaint we were finally moved to a better apartment. The hard working entertainment staff made it for our family. The total entertainments offered in the evening were sometimes dubious (an owl show hosted by Eastern Europeans with little understandable banter) but when involved the Ent team they tried really hard to include the children. The food is good for a buffet style and changes each day to keep the whole family interested. Drinks not too overpriced (see that it is PP and a relatively expensive area for the island). However, one downside is the morning rush for the loungers and umbrellas. Towels were down starting at 6.30am and if you had small babies or very young getting pool side to have a chance to see them meant you had to play the game in getting up early. However, PP is a lovely area and Puerto Azul is ideally placed near the Marina and Beaches to be a great holiday when you do not have to have a car. everything is walkable even with buggies. A great holiday for young children but I would guess above 12 or so they might get bored.
We've visited the Puerto Azul three times over the last 6 years and do so because family live close by. It's good for the kids (5 + 2) as the pools are toddler friendly and the food is fine for them. The staff here are excellent - from the owners (family) to cleaners and entertainment staff they are friendly and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The restaurant and reception guys are particularly good and the only exception would be one or two members of the bar staff who seem to have a sense of 'I'll serve you when I'm god dammed ready'. Dinner is hit and miss but you won't be disappointed with the variety at breakfast. All in all a place we'd recommend
Okay so this hotel isn't part of big chain and doesn't look like a top luxury hotel. One thing it is though is special. The hotel is kept clean the staff are amazingly welcoming and the location is perfect. The food is the only thing that is different to previous years which in my opinion is a shame. They used to have theme nights which was fantastic and the staff loved putting on even if it was stressful for them. They love to please and are the biggest asset to the hotel. I would go as far as saying that if the staff weren't there each year then neither would we be.
Been here four years running now and each year it get's better. Having travelled with adults with additional needs this place as improved the facilities to include everyone. Couldn't fault it. We asked for a hoist to the pool , We got one! We asked for certain rooms, we got them too. We asked for a disabled toilet by the pool and they delivered that as well. The first year here we loved it that much even without the facilities we needed , we made do!. Now on our fourth visit back this hotel cannot give us anymore. So accommodating. I can highly recommend this hotel for wheelchair users and able body people. It's ideally situated near all you will need in a holiday. The staff are amazing, the pool bar staff work so hard and are so good. The restaurant staff work so hard to deliver a good high service. The manager is always eager to listen and make amendments. I told him I would write a review and big the hotel up. In honestly I don't need to do that! This hotel as got it spot on for families .. The kids club, the kid's club team. I will say one last thing, when you re visit the same hotel and you see the same staff year after year that to me say's this is a good place to work and a good business. Highly recommend. Thanks to Puerto Azul for making our holiday the best yet. Having that room by the pool ment the world to my family, as my son is autistic and don't like the sun, I how ever do like the sun.. LOL this company , this manager he delivered. :) We will be back Regards the Portch Family.
Good overall three star hotel can't fault it. Rooms were lovely. Food was to a good standard. Sunbeds usual rush to get one but other than that spot on! Staff were helpful and friendly. Location up on a hill but taxi's are ok
Had a lovely week in the Puerto azul .they gave us a beautiful room with amazing views .the food was lovely especially breakfast .you could as always get a sun lounger .the entertainment was just right and the staff across the whole hotel were kind helpful and always smiling .well done all .we will be back !!
This is our first family holiday in a suite hotel. The team at Puerto Azul have cracked it and I'd highly recommend the hotel. We stayed in Block C on the first floor with a view of the pools. Our suite was immaculate and looked freshly decorated with crisp white cotton bedding, modern good quality furniture and bathroom fittings. It had a fridge, which came in very handy for bottled water and a tv in the living room/bedroom 2 and main bedroom. We also had a balcony. The air conditioning was very welcoming. We were able to access free wifi throughout the hotel. The whole set up at Puerto Azul seems to run smoothly. We came half board - which I must admit I was a bit wary about (never having stayed half board before anywhere), but I needn't have worried. The dining areas are spotlessly clean, light, spacious and airy. You can eat inside or outside. There is crisp white table linen, shiny glasses, white porcelain crockery and shiny cutlery and plenty of smartly dressed friendly staff on hand. Food is served on a selection of buffet areas. I thought we would eat out for some meals, but the quality and choice was so fantastic and the food so plentiful and excellent quality that we didn't bother more than once, as we preferred the hotel food and atmosphere. Breakfast is fantastic - providing regular items daily such as a traditional cooked breakfast, continental meats and cheeses, juices, a range of cereals, breads, biscuits/pastries, dried/fresh fruit and yoghurts and other items which changed daily such as freshly cooked pancakes, omelettes, churros etc. Fantastic! There is a snack bar available for lunch which does a varied menu. We tended to eat a lot at breakfast so skipped lunch though 😉. Dinner was a similarly fantastic experience with a vast choice of quality foods. Again there were standard basics freshly available each day such as a variety of salads, cheeses, chips, pasta and cold meats. The other choices changed daily. There were grill options where the chefs cooked meat and fish options freshly throughout dinner, such as sea bass, sword fish, beef, burgers, lamb kebabs etc. On the buffet counters you can then help yourself to another wide selection of other dishes (which changed every day). Some of the options I remember were paella, curry, lasagne, salmon, chicken, vegetable cannelloni, mixed vegetables, steamed potatoes, rice, pasta, ratatouille etc, etc. There was a small section aimed at the children, again where the selection changed daily. Desserts were gorgeous and beautifully presented. There were at least 8 options to chose from each evening, in addition to the regular options of a choice of 4 ice creams (with toppings) and fresh fruit. All was serve yourself and in plentiful supply. The pools and gardens are great and are clean and very well maintained. There are plenty of sun beds and parasols. There was a fantastic friendly hospitality team who arranged good quality family focussed entertainment options throughout the days and evenings. This had a lovely atmosphere with the stage being on a paved area next to the pool, with good quality patio furniture, lanterns and waiters circulating. Everything was family friendly without being overly child/adult focussed. All entertainment seemed to finish by at least 10.30pm. It wasn't too loud and I was able to get my children to sleep in our room near to the entertainment area. The hospitality team are very good at encouraging those who want to be included, to take part (in a warm and friendly way). They aren't 'in your face', though and it's all very relaxed and friendly. The team put a lot of work in and seem to be around a lot so get to know people. They are a credit to the hotel. The hotel is perfectly situated about a 5-10 minute easy walk to the pine walk and beach. There is a spar just around the corner to stock up on water and snacks if needed -though these are easily available at the hotel. It's on a quiet road so not much traffic at all. If I come back to Puerto Pollensa I would definitely book into Puerto Azul again. A*****!!😀
We have just returned from 2 weeks in this hotel which was recommended to us. We have holidayed before in that part of the island and the resort is very classy and elegant with families and couples from the UK, Europe and Spain. You can also spot the odd celebrity walking the beautiful pine walk. The hotel is situated just 5 mins walk from the beach and we also used the local Spar and wonderful bazaar opposite for all our 'extras'. There is also a Hipocetral and Eroski supermarket just 15 mins walk for food at reasonable local prices which you will need if you don't want to spend money on lunch in the hotel bar/café. My main comments are the suite itself was beautifully positioned at the back of the hotel overlooking a playpark and the mountains (B206 - we were recommended to request anything in this block at the back) and was so quiet which was lovely. You get a full size under counter fridge and that is pretty much it so we bought our travel kettle (you can hire these) and cutlery and bought plastic cups and plates from the bazaar for very little money. The rooms where cleaned and beds made daily with bed linen changed every 3 days. The breakfast was both continental buffet, hot food (English style sausages were lovely) and fruit and yogurts - just perfect. Dinner was, for us, excellent with lots of Spanish style cuisine but the longest queue was for chips which always amused us. The nightly Paella was excellent and the various dishes included a pulled pork which was some of the best we've eaten - we only ate out 3 times during our stay because we really liked the food and choice and my husband is both a Coeliac and lactose intolerant and apart from the desserts, he was well catered for. The pool area is very busy and the sunbed situation is not great but it is often the case wherever you go. My husband got up every day at 7.15am and put out our towels but we did leave it one day until 8.30am and we still managed to get three beds together. I would say that some people put towels on their beds and then went off for the morning to the beach and back to the pool in the afternoon! I can't see how they can resolve this but understand it used to work differently but this year it was a free for all. It is a very busy hotel and the pool is very crowded at times but it is school holidays and I would assume it is easier out of these busy times. The hotel staff are wonderful and there is just one entry and exit so you feel very secure and safe which is no bad thing in these challenging times and the entertainment staff were really superb and we had a few families with disabled/special need children and they were wonderful and kind to them and made them feel part of the whole thing - we were very impressed with the effort made. Prices are expensive in the hotel for drinks and you have to pay for your drinks with your evening meal with cash at time of ordering which sort of takes the edge off but it is what it is. It was very hot at this time of the year but our air-conditioning was set at 20 degrees and we found it fine for us but we know there were some problems in other suites. There was aqua aerobics daily plus lots of things on during the day and a fully equipped gym plus the opportunity to do washing in the laundry in the basement together with a dryer. All in all, we had a lovely family holiday and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. We travelled with TUI but a lot of folks were with Jet2 holidays whose reps we saw daily at the hotel. 5*.
We have just returned from our weeks holiday at the Azul. Firsty the good points, the hotel was very clean with helpful friendly staff. The rooms were of good spec with a full sized fridge. The beds were the most comfortable we have ever had at a hotel, similar to memory foam (?) the temp was very high while we were there and the air con in the rooms doesn't go below 18 deg so not terribly effective when you are melting! I did mention it to reception and an engineer was sent straight away to check it which was great. The accessibility for wheelchairs is very good, with slopes to every area. The room doesn't need a table and chairs if you have a wheelchair so asked them to take them out for more room. There are lots of families and young children at this hotel. Rings only in the pool no air beds! And speaking of the pool, trying to get sun bed is really difficult. The first day we tried to get a sunbed after breakfast, no chance. Next day before breakfast- all gone. So I tried earlier, 7am and 75% beds gone! In fact the morning we left, it was dark and some towels were already down! Most annoyingly were the selfish people who put towels down on the front row and then went to the beach for the day (yes really) The food at breakfast was very good and varied with lots of fruit too. Evening was more limited and good but vegetarians not particularly catered for. Pudding was pudding with no fruit option which would have been good. If you go to dinner later the food isn't restocked and it can be difficult to get a clean table. The staff do work very hard and do their best but they are so busy clearing and doing drinks orders. There is entertainment in the evenings which is varied between guest acts and the hotel's own staff doing their own show, Grease is fabulous. The entertainment staff work hard and aqua aerobics is great fun. The hotel is an easy 5 mins walk to ther beach and the front, shops and good selection of restaurants. The Euro is poor so check prices when buying English goods in supermarkets. This is a very good hotel for families with young children, not so much for teenagers. Great location, great staff.
We have just returned from a weeks holiday at peak time (end July/beg August) and the following was my experience. Great staff (entertainment, bar, cleaners and reception staff) who worked very hard to make everyone's holiday a great one. Location is fab and no need for taxis or buses to get to beaches, bars, restaurants and shops. Rooms were very clean and spacious. We were in block B and had a great view of the pool and stage. Lunch menu, drinks and frappe drinks were all reasonably priced. 3 points I wasn't keen on. (1) The hotel is very child friendly and definitely geared up for toddlers to 12 year olds. I had teenagers with me and the pool was very very busy with young children, throwing balls and playing on donut rings. At one point the pool had 12 donut rings inside the pool and a boat. It is impossible to enjoy the pool and we ended up going to the beach for 4 out of the 7 days. However if you have young kids they will have a great time. (2) it was a race to secure a sunbed and I got up at 8am and 90% of the sun beds had already been reserved. You needed to be up at 7am or earlier to reserve a bed. (3) Breakfast and dinner was average. More often than not the food was not refilled quickly enough. Butter, croissants and melon at breakfast took at least 20minutes to be restocked. Choice for dinner was limited however the food was ok. The tables were not cleared due to staff doing drinks orders which meant many of the tables had left over dishes which wasn't a great dining experience. That aside if you have young children they will have a great time. In my experience I would give it a rating of 3.5 stars.
