The hotel has just undergone a full refurbishment On arrival at about noon in a transfer car from the airport arranged by the hotel we were told there were no Superior sea view rooms available for immediate occupancy. This despite the hote being almost empty. We were then offered a 60 euro per night upgrade per person to Red Level on which basis our rooms would be available! We agreed to this although as we were to find out the Red Level facilities were very poor when compared say to the Gran Melia Marbella and Melia Banus where we have stayed before. You are wasting your money to book Red Level. However a bigger surprise was to follow as the hotel apparently has no air conditioning. The weather was warmish and the rooms became stuffy however when repeatedly asking about air conditioning we were told, in writing, that because of the age of the building it is not possible for guests to regulate the temperature of their individual rooms. More than this the fan did not work so no air circulation In normal circumstances it might have been possible to open the balcony door but there are two nightclubs adjoining the hotel that at weekends keep going to 5 in the morning In addition there is not full double glazing so the sound if these clubs and the busy road outside keep you awake This is not as advertised and the facilities listed on the website are not available I have enjoyed many holidays over the years at Melia hotels but the way we were treated while tyere and in subsequent communications means I will avoid in future
My wife and stayed a week recently. The hotel has had a partial refurbishment with more to be done but it is a superb hotel and has excellent facilities. Our only complaint was that the WiFi although free could be upgraded as it was very slow esp on higher floors.’
This is an attractive hotel which lives up to its five star rating and beyond. It is handy for the centre and has lovely views over the marina. The hotel is well maintained and we had a pleasant room. The sitting areas are good as is the outside area. Reception were superbly helpful as was every member of staff. Room service was good too. Breakfast is varied with good choice and the staff there are good too. I recommend this hotel without hesitation.
The hotel is old and tired. Quality problems wherever you look. Be aware that is does NOT have individual heating in the rooms, meaning that if in winter or off season the hotel does not switch on the general hot air system, you will suffer. Many rooms have problems with noise or views on the ruins of a next door building. It pretends to be on the seafront but in reality it is not. From the hotel you can go down to the promenade by taking several lifts and stairs but it is uncomfortable and for the elderly not recommended. The expensive breakfast buffet will make you scrambled eggs but with crude chopped onions and tomatoes... unheard of. The bread and pastry is factory made. The management managed to give a cheap touch to the attractive entrance and main salon, by overcharging the atmosphere with chemical perfume, drowning out the small of the - yes - freshly cut flowers. Not worth your while.
We stayed December 31st - 6th January. The New Years Eve Gala Dinner was fabulous. Great food,Iam a vegetarian they made sure I had a lovely Gala Dinner too. Husband also really enjoyed the food, lobster & fillet steak, to name a few courses. Great wines red & white, with Pommery Champagne was flowing. Excellent service from the waiters that night, could not fault a thing, The entertainment was the Fabulous *Monkey Doo* swing band, they are really excellent, got everyone in the party mood. There was also a fabulous DJ played into the small hours. The staff here are really excellent Rosario the Bar Manager great cocktails, attentive, also the senior bar server from Grenada. Pedro the doorman/bell hop really lovely and helpful. The staff are very nice, helpful, polite and very respectful. The hotel Beautifully decorated for Christmas and New Year. The Breakfasts here are really good. well worth it, fresh fruit, fruit juices. hot breakfast items, cereal, toast, breads, cheeses, hams, yoghurts to name a few items. It was warm enough to have breakfast outdoors on the terrace. The view is stunning, you could sit for hours, just taking in the view, people watching. Beds very comfortable, rooms cleaned to a high standard. They also have a turndown service too leaving a chocolate on your pillow. Clarins products in the bathroom. We enjoyed our stay so much have booked to return in July. A beautiful classic hotel.
We have been to Palma on holiday a few times and always choose different hotels to try things out, this past one we chose this hotel it was the right price for us, right star category and had a good online deal. But we were both surprised throughout our time there that the hotel is somewhat antiquated, didnt have any fresh or cool elements other than the view, which you end up forgetting about after a few hours. The breakfast buffet was fine, wish the juices would have actually been freshly squeezed..like I mentioned, probably not the place for us.
We stayed here for a couple of nights over Christmas. The hotel was fabulous, nothing was too much trouble all the staff were polite and helpful. We had a top floor on the Red level the view was amazing. When we return to Palma we will definitely chose this hotel.
Unfortunately I cannot give this hotel a 5 star, it could have been better for a few things that Ill mention, mainly was not pleased with my room, it was very hot and at times very cold, I did not have control over the temperature it really did as it pleased. The view is very nice from everywhere even though we did not pay extra for the sea view, but sitting at the restaurant could be a 2hr lunch almost the service was extremely slow, it made me want to eat out more so I didnt waste my day sitting around. Its also a loud area there are bars and nightclubs nearby, not as relaxing as I hoped. Again the views of the harbour are excellent and exactly a I expected.
Just booked this lovely hotel for my third visit. It's my daughters 21st birthday in March and I asked what present she would like and she asked to be taken to Palma in June. I'm looking forward to seeing the refurbishment this year and showing her the city. Can't wait for the breakfast on the terrace too. Sandra Pickard
This is a beautiful luxury hotel with lovely furnishing and excellent staff. It's situated high on the promenade with real great views over the harbour of Palma, but can be accessed from the promenade side also. The breakfast provided everything you could ask for and lobby, bar and lounge areas are lovely and spotlessly clean. There is a large sunny terrace, outdoor pool and bar areas also. Their indoor heated pool is great for the winter months. We would certainly recommend this beautiful "Gran Melia Victoria" hotel for a nice stay in Palma. 👌👍😃
