Holiday Inn Madrid - Pirámides3.0 out of 5.0

Just visited Madrid and had a very pleasant stay in Holiday Inn Piramidas. We received an upgraded double room in the fifth floor, very quiet (double glasses, even though the street is not really noisy). At the reception Chemas was really nice and explained us about how to plan our day. The hotel is in a quiet neighbor and you feel really safe in the area. From the airport we took train Renfe C-1 which leaves you in the subway station in front of the hotel. The center of the city is at a 15-20 min walk from the hotel. We visited the stadium (Bernabeau) after riding again train C1 to Nuevos Ministerios and from there a 10 min walk to get to the stadium. I would definitely come back to this hotel if visiting Madrid.
Extremely good location - we took the train from Barajas Airport and the hotel is seconds from the Piramides station. The Hotel is in a quieter part of the City, and is a very pleasant 15-20 minute walk to the major sights. Breakfast is of a good standard too, fresh orange juice and a reasonable selection for a 3 star hotel. All staff were very friendly. Would choose this property again next time we come to Madrid (hopefully soon!)
The hotel is at an amazing location, literally 2 meters away from the Piramides train station, which is really good. The staff was pleasant, the place was clean and the room was lovely. Don't expect too much from the breakfast menu, since it's still Madrid and you're not likely to get any vegetables or healthy options, but it was still better than smaller hotels. We ate at the hotel bar and the guy who worked there was very nice, but the poor guy had to travel back and forth from the kitchen (first floor) to the bar (lobby) and attend all the people by himself, which created a few mistakes and a lot of waiting, but his intentions were really good. Room service is only until 4PM (just an FYI).
When you check in to a Holiday Inn hotel, you pretty much know what to expect. This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on who you are. The hotel is nicely located. There is a metro station literally outside the hotel, but the line is shut down for maintenance until the end of the year. The closest metro station is 10 minutes walk. Not too far to walk, but can be a hassle when it rains. Rooms are simple and could use a face lift, as the amenities show some signs of wearing out. But the room was clean and quite (we faced the back alley). Breakfast was rather basic. As vegans, we wished for fresh vegetables that were missing completely from the buffet. Staff were professional and kind. All in all, it was an OK place to stay in. I bet that once the metro station will be operational again, the attractiveness of this hotel will rise.
I still don't get it why in 2017 a hotel that charges you 300+ euros for a two night stay does not give you free unlimited internet access without forcing you to log in with a social media or email account and giving the hotel access to all your contacts. Every hostel gives you internet access for free. you just lost a future customer here, holiday inn... only after asking for it twice at the reception we were given a code providing limited access. ridiculous.
is a ok hotel but charged 180 eu because of concert that night. clean and staff is nice. breakfast was not included and charge 17 eu for it. Not even a water bottle as courtesy after paying inflated prices. only 1 show left for V calderon to shut down. Easy access from metro a cercanias.
We stayed in Holiday Inn Piramides for the Guns & Roses Concert. Its proximity to the stadium was excellent. After the concert we went to our room to sleep while others had to wait for several hours for the metro. The Piramides metro station is just at the front of the hotel that gives good access to the city. The hotel had very good breakfast. Amenities in the room were excellent. They provided high quality towels and the hotel was clean. The sipped of internet however can be improved.
At the front desk there is a gentleman named Cerras (I may not be spelling correctly). He helped us with planning a day of exploring the city and even walked down to the train station to help us by tickets for the airport. Amazing man! Made our very short stay in Madrid exceptional.
This hotel is excellent. Very comfortable room with a beautiful bathroom and the staff provided us with extra toothpaste and lotion when we asked. They were extremely helpful and told us about breakfast places, restaurants, etc. Area was quiet despite being a little busy in the evenings and felt safe. Location is excellent as well. The Piramides metro stop is right out the front door, but we chose to walk (it's a <30 min walk to the center of the city). The hotel is also close to several restaurants (including a Chinese restaurant called City Garden that we really liked), and it's near the Madrid river where there's a cool bridge and gardens. We took walks there a couple of evenings.
Stayed here for three nights over Marathon weekend. Direct train service from airport to the train and metro station literally underneath the hotel. Metro line takes you up to the city centre which also within (uphill) walking distance. Athletico Madrid stadium very close by as are cafes and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable, clean and modern. Relaxing bar area. Breakfast was typical Spanish fare.
