is a ok hotel but charged 180 eu because of concert that night. clean and staff is nice. breakfast was not included and charge 17 eu for it. Not even a water bottle as courtesy after paying inflated prices. only 1 show left for V calderon to shut down. Easy access from metro a cercanias.
We stayed in Holiday Inn Piramides for the Guns & Roses Concert. Its proximity to the stadium was excellent. After the concert we went to our room to sleep while others had to wait for several hours for the metro. The Piramides metro station is just at the front of the hotel that gives good access to the city. The hotel had very good breakfast. Amenities in the room were excellent. They provided high quality towels and the hotel was clean. The sipped of internet however can be improved.
At the front desk there is a gentleman named Cerras (I may not be spelling correctly). He helped us with planning a day of exploring the city and even walked down to the train station to help us by tickets for the airport. Amazing man! Made our very short stay in Madrid exceptional.
This hotel is excellent. Very comfortable room with a beautiful bathroom and the staff provided us with extra toothpaste and lotion when we asked. They were extremely helpful and told us about breakfast places, restaurants, etc. Area was quiet despite being a little busy in the evenings and felt safe. Location is excellent as well. The Piramides metro stop is right out the front door, but we chose to walk (it's a <30 min walk to the center of the city). The hotel is also close to several restaurants (including a Chinese restaurant called City Garden that we really liked), and it's near the Madrid river where there's a cool bridge and gardens. We took walks there a couple of evenings.
Stayed here for three nights over Marathon weekend. Direct train service from airport to the train and metro station literally underneath the hotel. Metro line takes you up to the city centre which also within (uphill) walking distance. Athletico Madrid stadium very close by as are cafes and restaurants. Rooms were comfortable, clean and modern. Relaxing bar area. Breakfast was typical Spanish fare.
Stayed a week, traveling and seeing sites in Madrid. Hotel is located next to metro and train station, definite plus. We rode the metro daily but since it was perfect walkingweather we walked to a good number of site using iphone app for map. We found a good price for hotel by booking early and didenjoy our small but very cleanroom. Able to make tea or coffee in our roomdaily. THE sound proofing needs to be improved. Very notable that there are other guests. They sound like they are inthesame room with you at times. We had an interiorroom that faced ianto a court yard so did not hear the traffic that others sometimes complain about. The beds are a little too firm for my liking but was tolerable. Staff very professional and cheerful. Check in and out speedy. Would stay here again but ask for a softe matress or qpillow topper. Had some intemittent problems with the wi fi.
Hotel was really well placed for sightseeing. Train from Airport to the door €5.20 for 2 of us. Only used Metro once again outside the door with helpful staff to make sure you got the right ticket. Madrid is very compact and walking for sightseeing is realistic and allows you to experience so much more. The hotel was close to tapas bars which served good local cuisine. Piramides is outside the main central area if the city which I prefer. Hotel staff were friendly. Room was perfectly clean and tidy, and I would stay here again if I visited Madrid.
We stayed in this Holiday Inn for 5 nights. Let's start with the good points (it won't take long!) Perfectly positioned next to a metro station and Renfe train stop which transports you straight from T4 of the airport in about 35 minutes at a very reasonable cost. The metro is a very easy option for travelling around the city. Very cheap wine from the bar and decent sandwiches to order if you can locate the bar staff. On arrival we went to reception and checked in. As my partner is an Aspire Elite IHG member we were greeted with the generic welcome and offer of drinks vouchers and water in the room which was appreciated. That's as far as the benefits went as we found out when we entered our room. On opening the room door my heart sank as we took in the beige and brown, drab, scruffy decor. The room was long and narrow with three single beds in a row, it was more like a dormitory than a hotel room. The windows were very dirty and the carpet was thread bare. There was a very impractical desk/seat/minibar set up under the window which meant you couldn't get close enough to look out ( which in hindsight was probably a good thing!) No pictures on the walls, wood chip wallpaper, dreadful! The bathroom was also beige with the toilet and bidet facing each other with barely enough clearance room inbetween, just bizarre. This certainly wasn't an upgraded room which we were entitled to. It may be on the cheaper side but I certainly wasn't expecting such an awful, depressing room that was desperately in need of an overhaul and clean!!! Breakfast was cheap enough at 11€ each and our 14 year old son got to eat for free. Selection was ok, cereal, fruit, continental pastries, ham and cheese. Hot food was a bit disappointing with very sloppy scrambled egg, undercooked bacon and frankfurter sausage pieces. The set up for breakfast was confusing. On the first morning we arrived at the small dining room and waited to be seated. After waiting a while no-one appeared so we just chose a table and sat down. It wasn't until we got half way through our breakfast that a waiter arrived to take our room number. He was, however very pleasant. So to sum up: Convenient location, good cheap food and drink but that is all. I would definitely not recommend this hotel, even for people on a budget. Such as shame as with a revamp it could be great!
I stayed for 4 nights at the Holiday Inn Piramides, as it had a good location next to the Metro. The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout the hotel, and I could not fault their dedication and enthusiasm. The rooms are tired, and my chair had a broken leg on it, which was about to collapse. The wifi wasn’t very good, and the worst thing for me was noise from the corridors and neighbouring rooms. The rooms are not configured to minimise noise disruption, and have zero insulation. I had to move on my first night, and considered moving out of the hotel on night 2 altogether.
What you would expect really. Hotel is right on the train station - but don't make the mistake I did coming from the airport. Don't get the metro - get the Renfe - line C1 - it will take you directly to the station which is 13 meters from the entrance to the hotel. The metro requires two changes and is 50% more expensive. I would stay again - just for the ease of getting to the hotel from the airport (if you take the Renfe). Hotel otherwise well located for Madrid sightseeing. There is a pretty good restaurant (unconnected with the hotel) across the road - which had good food at very reasonable prices. Couple of local coffee shops / bars on the same street (within 75 meter walk of the door).
