Holiday Inn Madrid - Pirámides3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed here for the last two nights of our vacation in Spain. Being close to the metro was an important consideration, and the entrance was just a few steps from the hotel's front door. Getting around Madrid could not have been easier. The room was quiet and comfortable, with the feel of a boutique hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful, and at least one person on duty was fluent in English. There are plenty of restaurants within a short walk, which is a good alternative to hotel food.
Stayed 4.5 weeks here for Work. Chose it for location. Metro literally outside front door. Easy to walk to Plaza Mayor and Atocha and Rio Madrid. Responsive and Wonderful staff. Location and staff make this hotel! Stayed in a spacious executive room but sparsely furnished, noisy between rooms and busy street outside, mini-bar on the pricey side, amply-sized room safe but heard non-executive rooms have smaller one which won’t fit a laptop. Daily breakfast buffet offered but so-so food and costs 16 euros if not included. There are other places nearby with coffee/pastries if want cheaper breakfast alternative. WiFi just ok (not good at all for working). Needs major updating. Popular with tour groups. Restaurant just so-so. Better to go out and lots of good, nearby restaurants. Giving 5 stars for staff and location. Property only 3-Star. Average=4 stars
I booked this hotel at the very last minute, everything near la Gran Via was expensive and this property was my best option. All I can tell is that I absolutely loved it! It's in a very nice and quiet neighborhood, few steps away from metro station Piramides, just 3, 4 stops from city center or it's just 20 minutes walk if your prefer to walk, which I did many times. Big THANK YOU to Juani, the front desk agent who was very kind and knowledgeable of the area. She is always with a big smile on her face and willing to help with any request. Rooms are very clean, and breakfast in the morning is delicious! I highly recommend this property.
We were upgraded to a lovely room with a super king size bed. It looked a bit dated but lovely and clean and everything worked brilliantly, room serviced each day with fresh bedding, towels and bathroom extras. The only down was we could hear every thing from the room next to us, TV, conversations in fact I was woken up last night by the guy next door (sexist I know) snoring!
Was here for a few days with friends... Good Hotel....Great Location... Pleasant Staff... Clean Spacious Room and Comfy Bed....Tasty Breakfast... Close to plenty of good restaurants and bars.. Thank you, for a wonderful stay....Will definitely be returning :)
Location: The location is not the best if you want to visit the center, nevertheless is perfect if you need an hotel near the metro which is literally in front. Unfortunately when i was there the line 5 was closed for maintance. Rooms: Very good, holiday inn standard, big bed, nice pillows, spacious room, has an old look but ok Reception: Very good, reminds you why holiday inn has a good reputation Will i come back? If i have to be around, for sure!
Had 4 nights at this hotel, great location, as Train/Metro stop is literally just outside the door. We stayed in a standard room, which was fine, very quiet, a bit dark as we couldn't open the curtains as would have been overlooked by virtually every room from the first floor up. Nice clean room and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was average but adequate, although the female staff seeing to the breakfast area were miserable. The reception staff were really nice, friendly & helpful. Couldn't find anywhere that decent to eat in the area of an evening, but lots of café style/bars around the hotel, as well as quite a few supermarkets. The 10 tickets we bought each, for the Metro, lasted us our whole stay, cost around 10 euro. Taxi from the airport cost 30 Euro, Train to the airport cost just under 4 Euro each which was excellent value and took around 40 minutes. All in all good value for money, its a no frills budget hotel, and that's exactly what you get. Hotel does require updating although it was not as bad as I thought it would be from the reviews I had read about this. I would definitely consider staying there again, just because the location was so good.
Nice choice as there is the Piramides metro station right outside the door. There's a Carrefour grocery up the block too. Hotel room was ready in the morning when we checked in. Clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. They said they upgraded us to a King suite (but the bed was 2 twin beds pushed together with a king sheet). It was still fine and appreciated.
Location is really good - many busses and right on top of a train station (metro was not working when I was there) in fair walking distance (up hill...) from the center. But... hotel is old and rooms are way outdated by decor. Can (and should) improve. Wifi was horrible - when you are able to connect the connection was extremely slow and very unstable. Maybe it was my area or room, but in any case it's unacceptable.
Not a luxury hotel but has everything you need. The room seemed small but was ok for me to spend several nights in Madrid. Very easy to get from the airport and back - have the railway line just in front of the entrance. 20 minutes walking distance from the city center, was travelling alone but felt if was absolutely safe to walk even in the middle of the night or at 3 a.m.
