Literally, A DUMP that charged us more than the Hampton Inn we stayed at in Rome, Georgia the night before. The Tourist Bureau should put some effort into getting a modern, clean hotel in Madison. Owners: Instead of remodeling, tear it down and build a new hotel.
We stayed here for one night on our drive to TN. We didn't check in until midnight, and left early. The hotel didn't feel very clean. Our room was large, and even had a little kitchenette area which was nice to have. The bathroom was horrible. The ceiling and walls had a ton of water damage (I'm guessing from the lack of venting, and of course people take hot, steamy showers). The tub was a large jet tub, but looked very dirty and had large cracks all over. The water stream out of the shower head was lackluster. The bed was comfy though, and I guess that's all that mattered for a one night stay. We were able to use their breakfast buffet in the morning. It was just like any other Holiday Inn Express breakfast.
Stayed here for a mystery tour. Thoroughly enjoyable ROOM: Roomy, 2 years old, modern contemporary style Larger size refrigerator (bonus!) Standard hotel size microwave Keurig coffee machine: four kups and one tea bag Wall AC unit with wall thermostat. Two mirrors: wall size and over desk. Very practical in the mornings. HDTV with actual high def stations, four HBO channels. Four drawers: three moderate shallow size and one large extra deep size. BATHROOM- "Bed and Bath" brand toiletries. Extra wide counter top bathroom sink. Plenty of room for the wife's toiletries and cosmetics. Extra large mirror. Servicable for two at the same time. One towel bar next to sink. Two hooks; next to tub and back of door. BREAKFAST- Omelets: regular and egg white No waffles Muffins, fruits Hot beverages, fruit juices Bread Staff is friendly and helpful. First time we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. We were impressed and will stay at another one again!
The hotel is in need of a remodel, which it is now getting. However, conditions were "messy" and not relaxing. The pool was closed, with no explanation. The continental breakfast was hot and fresh. Everything considered, I thought it was an expensive mediocre stay.
Changed my original negative review due to actions taken by the management to address my initial complaints. They treated me very fairly and in a very professional way. Very happy with my stay even with the inconveniences. Staff was very nice and polite. Thank you!
Very poor place to stay. Given wrong type of room on check in. A/C unit not working right in room. Entrance area and whole first floor smells like cigarette smoke. People standing and sitting by front door smoking. Party started in next room at 5:30 in the morning. Music and loud taking. Construction going on and closed pool. Bad place to stay.
Arrived and was greeted by the manager, who was a very nice lady. We went to our room and setup our computers, hardwired the main one in, and set off updating windows before heading off to enjoy a day out. When we returned the internet connection had actively timed out. We contacted front desk and were told to called the tech support. Contacted the support and was given a poor excuse but they took down my pc's mac address and told me it would sort the issue. Every game or software I tried would start downloading then they would actively disconnect me. After a few calls they failed to fix it. We contacted front desk again and this time where told "It stinks.we have terrible internet" The internet speed was one of the main factors we took in to account before booking here. We went out to the Michio Kaku lecture, after returning for this ordered food, and my wife went to use the shower, at this point we found the shower curtain to have dried bloody body fluid, we took a photo and showed front desk. They offered to switch rooms for us, which was nice but this late in the day we decided to keep the room. We took this time to also ask if they could contact the internet tech and was told it would not help. In the morning, we tried to get the internet issue resolved and the Tech never called back, the next member of staff really did not give a rodent's hind end about the complaint, but said we would be getting "more" points on our account without taking any infomation down. We ended up having to contact the hotel's corporate office to get anything remotely close to compensation. Out of all the staff we met in person, only one cared and was polite, the other two really where just bodies in a job. Overall the room was unclean with some trash found under the bed, as well as the bathroom. The internet sucked majorly and we did not get anything done we should have been able to. It was so bad that even Elite Dangerous could not download a Beta patch.
I have always been a fan of HIE, but this one may make me rethink about switching brands. The hotel is under construction, it looks like the front half is completely closed off. It is hard to tell it is even a hotel....no sign anywhere except a little one marking the entrance. It looks like new construction, scaffolding across the entire front, we had to drive around the building to find the entrance......well we could not drive around the building, construction equipment blocked one of the entrances..... Got here at 2:15, check in is at 3.....room not ready, but only about 10 cars in the parking lot. Hotel workers were sitting at a table outside....maybe it was break time. Left our luggage in the lobby, the lady was nice and apologetic, then went and got a bite to eat. Came back at 3:15, room was ready. Went to room, no problem....room was ok but dated. This room has not been updated yet...no problem. Oh yea, hotel workers sitting outside again..... Problems...... was given a password for wireless, could not get it to hook up. Kept on showing up on my device, but would not cue for the password. Looked at the pool.....closed Got up this morning to work out, they have a elliptical, a treadmill and a bike.......nothing works, then noticed a sign on the treadmill......out of order. Probably would have stayed elsewhere, if I would have known that no amenities are included. I do not understand why they are even staying open, during construction, when nothing works. About to hop in shower, hope I have water and that it is hot! Good items, air worked fine, bed was not too bad. TV was very small, no HD.
This is my second week here for business and I've enjoyed both times. The rooms are clean the staff is friendly and they have a wonderful breakfast here always had good variety. Half the hotel is under construction though just be aware but they're very respectful when they work and the Halls are not filled with dust either so it doesn't really affect you much. I will keep coming back here as long as my business has me working this area in the future.
The Madison Holiday Inn Express is conveniently situated on a main highway on the north side of Madison just a 10 minute drive from the downtown Madison attractions. This is the second Holiday Inn Express I have stayed at in the past year that is being renovated. They have done a very nice job updating the room decor. The morning breakfast buffet is ample and tasty. The one downside of this Inn is the construction associated with their adding a large addition to the complex. This has necessitated the closure of their indoor pool, Anyone hoping to use the pool during their stay should be warned before they make a reservation that it is not available at this time.
