Our stay was very good. Very good service, maid service, pool area, rooms and first class food, and friendly, informative, helpful staff. One of the best hotels in Funchal. We will be back next time we go to Madeira
Lovely hotel, very clean food first class 5great pools excellent staff. We went beginning of September and we were fortunate to have two weeks of glorious sunshine,no problem with sun beds plenty for all.If you like walking its half hour walk to Funchal and a bit of a hill back , taxi about 10 Euro one way or there's plenty of buses. We walked-from the hotel to the old town and around the old church very enjoyable. Any negatives yes sorry I have one, smoking around the hotel we are none smokers and find it anti social especially around the pool areas but other than that we had a great time at this hotel, would we stay here again yes.
A brilliant place to switch off and be pampered by Portuguese who want to present Quality of service - the hotel is a paradise of garden flowers even has it's own Orchid Garden! Several Resturaunt and places to both eat or sit i. Beautiful surrounds to enjoy a drink- love it
Stayed a qeek from 9/4 to 9/11. Hotel staff was very friendly and informative. Rooms were very clean and hotel amenities were sufficient. The hotel location was very convenient in the Lido area with multiple supermarkets in walking distance as well as restaurants. Would gladly return to this hotel and highly recommend others to consider it.
Our party of four visited this Hotel just to have a look around, to see what it was like, and were immediately impressed by the beautiful gardens, absolutely wonderful. We decided to book a table for our evening meal that night. We returned later, and were shown to our reserved table by the head waiter. We ordered a variety of crusty fresh bread with butter. I ordered a glass of Bresa orange, with vegetable soup as a starter, followed by Portugese steak, which has ham on the top, with roast potatoes, in a lovely rich sauce, (no vegetables though). My husband had a large beer, the vegetable soup and Eschalot steak with fois gras pate, mixed vegetables and roast potatoes in gravy. Our friends didn't have a starter, but one had the same meal as my husband, with a large beer, and his wife had roast lamb shank with mixed vegetables, roast potatoes and gravy, with a glass of rose wine. Myself and my friend didn't have desert, but my husband had coconut cake with chocolate ice cream, and my friends husband had a variety of cheese and crackers. All crockery was cleared of food! Extremely tasty! Very attentive and friendly staff. Would definitely go back. 👍🏻😊
What can I say, amazing hotel, staff really lovely especially Cecilia - Receptionist, Corina - Waitress and Luis - Restaurant Manager, who went above and beyond their roles. The hotel is very clean and spotless and the food is exceptional. There is loads to see and do. I would recommend the cable cars. I would highly recommend this hotel and would go back again.
We returned to the Eden Mar in August 2017 for our fifth visit and some how it seems to be even better. The room we stayed in, 1623, I think has had an update since last time we were there with lighter furniture, wardrobes with built in lights and a lovely bathroom. As always the staff were delightful, the reception, waiters, cleaning staff, pool men etc etc couldn't be faulted. We stayed B&B so I can only comment on the breakfasts which were plentiful and always freshly replenished, the chef was there to cook you omelettes, pancakes etc and the bread buns were sometimes so fresh they were still warm. I'm not sure why the hotel hasn't got an official 5 star rating, probably because there is no trouser press or some other silly reason, but for us we feel it's 5 star all the way. We're already looking forward to our next visit which hopefully won't be too far off.
We have looked forward to our holiday in the Eden Mar Suite Hotel on eight occasions - and have continued to be very pleasantly surprised that it seems to get better each time. We returned home recently with a longing to go back again. What is it about the hotel that makes it such a beautiful and wonderful place? Without question, the staff are the main factor. To be greeted by Sophia, Cecilia, Denise, and Manuela is a great delight. They are very professional women who add warmth, helpfulness, a welcome, and a sense of humour to all of their work. As the people who are the face of the hotel, they do a wonderful job. Proceed then to the Alfama restaurant and you meet Helena and Nuno, among others. Again, their people skills and customer service skills are a credit to the hotel. When relaxing in the bars in the evening you will come across Carlos, Roberto, and Patricia - people who do all they can to help you relax and enjoy yourself. Carlos is a wonder! How can he remember so many people, and greet so many with such warmth and sincerity? All of these people - those named and their colleagues - become friends who appear to enjoy welcoming their guests and ensuring that guests are well cared for and helped to have a wonderful holiday. As guests in the Porto Bay complex, we had access to the facilities of the three hotels on site - a great variety of swimming pools (5), restaurants (4), gardens, and sports facilities. Once again, the swimming pools areas were beautifully maintained. Aghostino and his Pool Team were on duty from early morning until late into the evening, constantly ensuring that the pools and pathways were clean, the chairs were tidy, and everywhere was safe. They simply did not stop working! Over a two week stay you cannot fail to see how hard the room staff work, and how helpful and friendly they are, even in the heat of mid-August. Again, our Junior Suite was spotless, and well-provided with all that we needed (including frequent changing of towels and bedclothes). If I were forced to find a source of a little niggle it is this: the number of "floaties" in the swimming pools. On some occasions floaties and loud noise were banned from one of the pools. I wonder if this could be made permanent (and implemented) in at least one pool on a permanent basis? In summary, a wonderful holiday once again.
4th time at this hotel, stayed 2weeks. Hotel spotless nothing too much trouble staff accommodating and helpful. B & B basis with plenty of good restaurants nearby. One thing we felt we had to complain was that the Spa pool, which is meant to be a quite relaxing swim, found that children bombing in the pool as well as throwing balls even with parents in attendance and visible signage. Staff did tell us that they tried to keep this under control. Suggest making it an adult pool only. There are 3 other large pools on the complex which children can use. Also saw person with no shirt on at breakfast which I think could be addressed. Apart from this it would not stop us going back.
Will be there a week today after a very stressful few months, can't wait for some R and R. Lots to see and do and of course the sledging, sightseeing, walking and of course drinking and eating, were going with friends but fallen out, their loss not mine
