We've just got back from Macau and our stay at Altira was amazing. It's a pity that we only stayed for 1 night, because the room was big and luxurious (note that we're used to Hong Kong apartment standards) and the view was stunning Some of the best restaurants are in walking distance. As we like to walk, we visited The Venetian, The Parisian and enjoyed the House of Dancing Water at City of Dreams
Not respectful at all!
My friend & i celebrated our birthdays here & it was unforgettable. The moment i came to the reception, my friends (2 of them) & i were welcomed with water, we were given a tea set as we entered the room. We went to the pool and as we came back to the room, fruit plate was served to us. A lot of drinks on the fridge were free. I was quite disappointed with a particular guest that was with us on the pool as she kept complaining about us of just about anything she sees. She was kind of an irate guest, and wasn't minding her own business at all. As if she owned the building. Nonetheless, the staffs handled the situation very well and we were treated nicely and very welcome. The staffs are all smiling and warm towards us. The view was amazing! And the movies were free inside the room (Some hotels would charge). Although i played one movie and it frozed for some reason, it didn't play anymore & i had to just play another one (not really an issue, it's free) Overall, I didn't want to leave too soon because it was an amazing place to be in.
We stayed here for New Years Eve. On the plus side we enjoyed a good meal through room service, the room was nicely made and big, and we really enjoyed the pool and spa facilities. The view from our room overlooking Macau Central was also nice. On the negative side the service in reception was a bit slow and chaotic and the surrounding area outside the hotel is not that great. I had a long walk there the following day and didn't find it very nice.
I was staying in this hotel on 2 Feb for 1 night. I booked via online travel agency and i was expensive than the normal day as for the chinese new year. I arrived from Taipa Ferry Terminal to the hotel, which only take us in 10 mins. During checking in at around 4pm, i was informed my room was assigned on 36th floor as per my request and in very detail for presenting the facilities and ordering in room breakfast. After check out, the front office lady saild happy birthday to me and I felt her sincere so much. When i got in the room, the view was stunning. I can see the panorama of the sea and the Macau peninsula. The room is spacious and simple decoration with style. Even though the room rate was expensive for me, I felt it was worthy. The hotel is not very far from the tourist spot (Rua do Cunha), it took me around 15 mins by using Google Map and it was easy. On the other hand, the catering arrangement of the hotel was accurate and punctual. The in room breakfast were simple but considerated as the hot items were put into a keep warm container, my coffee and food were served in very good condition. After check out, I went the Aurora for a fine dining lunch, the waiter and waitress also explained every courses in very detail, the foods were good qulity with good display and appropriate temperature. It deserved a michelin recommended grade. To sum up, I definately will be stay in this hotel again in the futrue and i will recommend all the people surrounding me.
Very well finished hotel, great views across the whole of Macau. It was a little away from the pulse of most of the large casinos but, of course has one just in case. Great layout, good in room spa. Free mini bar Had a very cool roof top bar. Would stay again.
Though the location is little bit inconvenient and without shuttle bus to major tourist attractions and ferry terminal, the nice hotel staff with 5-star service will let you enjoy the stay very much. Sure will stay there again next time.
Spent 6 hours and a couple minutes here at the restaurant and lounge today. it was a good hotel but today a series of events led me to reflecting it. Long stories short, Dinner at Aurora, its still summer time but their A/C want to freeze you to death. ask for a blanket and got ignored or forgotten; need to ask for a second time and found out the blankets are stored ust a few steps away from us. seated and waited for 10 minutes for a menu cuz there's only one male server doing his job among 3 tables, but you can see a few servers standing somewhere else. Not much comments on the food but the serving time between a 5-course set was inconsistent. Got the check and was told that we can get 50% off at the 38 lounge by presenting the Aurora receipt. Went up to the 38 lounge, funny, the host didn't seat us nor did the waitress. We walked across tables, went out to the sky-terrace took some pictures, went back inside and picked our own seats (it wasn't crowed at all) without any interference. Don't know if it was a bad day for me or the staff there, the live-band singer was having a temper and got lectured for 15 minutes by the manager (cuz we stayed till the end of the show). Asked for the bill and was told there's no 50% off due to PH. So which one of the staff is telling the correct info?? Overall the atmosphere wasn't good, honestly. The most pissed part, Valet Parking. Got a 5-hour complimentary parking stamp at Aurora earlier; ask the 38 lounge staff if they can provide 1 more complimentary parking hour cuz we did spent a few more hundreds there. Took the waitress 5 minutes to check and said no, 1 stamp on 1 parking ticket only. Altira only have valet parking and charge MOP 50 for 1 hour. The parking policy doesn't sound for me so I called the front desk to enquire, front desk called the valet driver to confirmed the policy in front of me, obviously I am being fooled, HOTEL FRONT DESK is calling the VALET DRIVER to answer such question. End up by spending a few minutes at the front desk, I spent 6 hours and like 5 minutes at the hotel and they charged me for 2 parking hours. *Tips, to enjoy the valet parking service efficiently and fairly at the hotel, for every 5 hours you stayed or any restaurant you visited, ask the valet to drive your car out and ask them to drive it back to the garage right away, cuz the parking ticket can only have ONE stamp on it. Something terrible might happen if Altira put 2 stamps on a parking ticket and regardless how much you spent at their outlets! p.s Yet the hotel care so much about the valet parking money, you can simply go into the casino there and ask a pit supervisor for a 24-hour complimentary parking ticket. boom.
As a resident of Macau, and as one who works at a stressful job, occasionally I like to get a nice massage to unwind. The Altira is a very beautiful hotel with breathtaking views of the harbor and Macau. The interior of the hotel is also modern and sleek, and you are greeted by all the helpful, friendly staff from entering to exiting. I am afraid that is where the good points stop. The spa is located directly beneath the gym, and if you are unlucky enough to be in one of the massage rooms while the weightlifters are throwing their weights on the ground, you will not have a relaxing, quiet time. Who in their right mind would design such an arrangement? The continual loud banging sound overhead was counterintuitive to a relaxing experience, I'm afraid. Won't be returning here.
The hotel was dark and brown, room was dark and brown, with heavily tinted windows and heavy dark brown drapes. Overall I did not feel comfortable staying at the Altira. We dined at Aurora on the 10/F, again it was dark and brown, food was not so much of a Michelin as it claimed. However, smiles from the Philippinal Employees made a difference. They spoke good English and had good manners. We will likely not recommend this hotel to friends, but to be fair, service was very pleasant.
