The hotel is located right next to Perrache Train station. In less than 3 minutes you are on the train platform heading downtown or their light rail. The location is very convenient and you can easily walk anywhere from there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were very comfortable asking for help and directions. There is an elevator at the hotel to help with luggage and easy accessibility. Our room was a decent size allowing for us to move around without tripping over our luggage. The washroom was very spacious and clean. It had good lighting and both shower and toilet were working well. Our bed and pillows were comfortable. Although our room's window faced the train station, we did not hear any noise from the outside. House keeping was good until our second last day. The person that was in charge of our room had "given up" and did not replenish the toiletries. It would have been nice if the service was consistent right to the end of our stay. We still had another day left before checkout so that was a bit of a damper on our stay. The only issues we had were the fact that there was only one outlet available in our room. Normally, a limited number of outlets is not a big deal but in this situation, the only thing that is plugged into the outlet is the fan to kepl us cool. It was an annoyance being uncomfortable in the summer heat during the evenings while our phones charged. If the hotel could rent out power bars, I would gladly rent one. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel. The pricing is reasonable, great rooms and washrooms, the staff are friendly and the location is very convenient.
We spent one night, the hotel is 5 minutes walking distance form the center, very close to Perrache station. Comfortable bed, but the room was a bit noisy not because of the street but other rooms. Clean and convenient, also very friendly at the reception.
Great breakfast and stuff at the eating room. Perfect location, just a second away from Perrache gare. Train from Paris to the main Gare also go to this one (normally) so its pretty cool not to need a cab afterwards. The reception people were OK, sometimes a bit weird. The reason why I give them only 3 stars is because toilets are very noisy and its a bit stinky... Otherwise room was good. Price was correct for what we got.
Not a good start to staying at this hotel. The shower did not run hot, there was a very small pillow on the bed, not great if you suffer back ,breathing problems. They were obviously trying to cut down expenses, two miserable lights in the ceiling that you would not have been able to read by comfortably. The hallway leading to the room is always in darkness. Supposedly, the tv was satellite, must have been from France because there were no English speaking channels, not even Al Jazeera. To cut a long story short, with the complaints I had, the evening receptionist was kind enough to allow me to change rooms, with far better lighting and got two extra pillows. The shower was an improvement, but not great. There is a maintenance issue with this hotel. The lift has a terrifying bump as it starts move from the reception area
Small hotels with small rooms. Don't expect something luxurious as it is a very basic hotel, it is however to an unbeatable price and you get good value for the money. Rooms are, as mentioned, very small but clean. Staff is nice and speak good English. Breakfast buffet (available for 9 Euro) was small but very good as well. Location is great, right next to Perrache. If you are looking for a budget hotel with nice location, this is it.
A very poor hotel with terrible service. This month Lyon is about 27C and the hotel doesn't have conditioned air or any type of refreshing system. Elevator doesn't work and telephone doesn't work either. Located in a difficult access area. Everything terrible
We booked to stay here because it was very close to the train station. Originally we had planned to stay in Geneva, however it was way too expensive for us, so we chose to stay in Lyon and travel back and forth to Geneva on the Eurail. The hotel is practically next door to the train station, however you wouldn't be able to tell when you are in the room as the rooms are very quiet! Lyon itself is a gorgeous city. Just a short walk through the train station and Place Carnot square and you are at Rue Victor Hugo! Lots of shopping, restaurants, cafes, candy stores and gift stores. The hotel room was on the smaller side, but had a desk, closet, and a large bathroom. The bathroom looked as if it had recently been refurbished, which was nice for an older cheap hotel. The lift is very small, but they also have stair case. Staff are very friendly and offer suggestions on attractions, places to eat and directions. The free wifi was very fast and worked well. You could order breakfast for a price, however we did not do this so I can't comment on the food. If you are traveling on a budget and don't like to stay in hostels, this hotel would suit you very well. I would stay here again.
This hotel is rather antiquated, despite the brave attempt to jazz it up a little with some interesting murals (in our room). Whilst the staff were very pleasant and helpful, our room (and I suspect the remainder of the hotel) had no air conditioning (or ceiling fan which is often adequate). In July, half way down the east of France, it is hot! We were unable to open our window as we had our son with us and there was a 40ft drop down onto the road. It was, I think, the hottest, most uncomfortable night's sleep ever! Breakfast simple, as you expect on the continent, and very attentive friendly staff. Parking consists of 4 or 5 spaces around 30 yards from the hotel. Watch out for spaces in the same bay in which it is not permitted to park overnight.
If you want warm water for your shower forget about any pressure. The lady at the desk when we checked in could not have been nicer. Good location for walking to all the sites. Basilica, gallos Romain and the traboules. The rooms were clean but what they use is so strong it smelled like a heavy mans cologne all night long. Much to strong.
Good value for the money but don`t expect a 5 star hotel... its basic but ok.. also taking into consideration, that is just across the Perrache Metro Station which will take you to the (far away) down town in just a few minutes (you don`t hear the trains at night).. Remember to take a stroll along the Rhone river and its fantastic scenery. Just 15 minutes walk from Bellecour Plaza which you don`t wanna miss for its beauty and shopping-facilities The room was a bit hot as I found no air condition
