I spent a week here in July of 2017, sharing a room with a colleague while we attended a conference at the University of Lyon just across the bridge. Coming back to our air conditioned room after events in the hot old university was a treat. The service and level of attention to hotel guests is extraordinary. In particular, Christophe handled a mixed-up set of reservations with skill and kindness. Other hotel personnel also went out of their way to be thoughtful: for instance while I was in the tiny business center printing out my boarding pass a staff member came by and asked if I would like a bottle of water. Our room had very comfortable beds and its own thermostat. It also had a Nespresso machine and an assortment of cool drinks. We missed having any sort of stand to put our suitcases on, and, as in most older hotels, there weren't a lot of places to plug in our many devices. The shower had little bottles of shampoo, bath gel, and conditioner made by Hermes (good), but the print on the labels was so small we were never sure which one we were using. The closet had only a half dozen hangers, the big old type that you used to put your overcoat on, so a few more slim hangers would have been welcomed. I mention these drawbacks because they are easy to fix: a power strip; better labels; more hangers; luggage stands. They are minor negatives, far outweighed by the beautiful view, comfortable beds, and dedicated staff. I recommend this hotel with enthusiasm. It's a lovely place and I'd love to come back.
I stayed here for 2 nights in a superieur room. The room was rather small but the bathroom and aspecialy the shower was huge. The room was clean. The hotel has not really a decent bar, there is one on the ground floor witch has also a part outside, but nobody serves you there... and there is a cocktailbar on the 8th floor but it has only room for around 20 people. Next to that the building from the outside looks out of date. Althow it caries 5* it is rather a 4 one.
We stayed there for 1 night for easter 2017. The view is amazing and staff always perfect. However the rooms on some floors are just out of date (see some pictures). After complaining, we received a small discount from reception, but a kind of «bad luck» from Accor, just telling us to request the right floor next time... so be aware.
Nice airy feeling overlooking the river. Hotel personnel very accommodating and both restaurants are excellent. The rooms are a bit cluttered and the water pressure in the shower is sporadic and getting in and out precarious.....not much to hang on to. The lighting is a challenge to figure out. The bed very comfortable. Sometimes less is better as far as furnishings go when the room is small. We did enjoy our two night stay.
Located at walking distance from all interesting placets in Thie beautiful City on the banks of the rivier Rhône, the Sofitel offers everything a citytraveller is looping for. Nice and comfortabel rooms and super friendly staff.
The taxiride from and to the aiport was smooth and easy. Upon enterin the hotel, you feel like a guest right away. Kind employees that assist and fully explain. Nice room and great breakfast. If you want an espresso instead of a regular coffee, just ask the they will take care of it.
If you are reading this review and are accustomed to 5 star hotels, then this isn't the review for you. But if you are like me and are used to staying in 3, and maybe the occasional 4 star place, then keep reading. This just very well may have been the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in either in the US or on the Continent. I was fortunate to stay here for 2 nights whilst leading a group of Americans in France for 12 days. This hotel was one of the best surprises of the trip. The room was spacious, the service was impeccable, the location was magnificent, and the entire experience was decadent (and I loved it). My room enjoyed a spectacular view of the Rhone and the view from the 8th floor breakfast was even more spectacular. I enjoyed the location. For meals in the evening we went on a short walk to the enjoyable "Le Sud," a Paul Bocuse restaurant. The next evening I went on a little longer walk to Rue Merciere to enjoy the atmosphere and another great meal. Some in our group enjoyed an evening meal in the hotel itself (they said it was highly rated on Yelp) and were raving about the meal the entire next day. The room itself was as spacious a hotel room as I've ever had in Europe. A kingsize bed, a nice sitting area, a fridge, and a very nice bathroom and shower. I particularly appreciated the Nespresso in the room each morning. I would certainly stay in this hotel again if it were an option on future trips.
Stayed here for 4 nights, perfect everything was great not a single bad word to be said..........made Lyon perfect for us.... will be back. The view is spectacular from the cocktail bar and the restaurant is outstanding that good we dined there twice
2 night stop whilst attending a rugby game. Really good location and nice area. Some good bars and restaurants nearby and easy walk to the old town and main shopping areas situated between the 2 rivers. Great panoramic top floor bar ......bit pricey but worth the view and good service. Room top notch. Didn't eat there as far too much choice in Lyon restaurants ! Would stop again.
Stayed at this hotel for several days in December 2016. It is quite central and walking distance to many sights and restaurants. The views from the top floor bar are stunning. The staff was very helpful.
