Sofitel Bellecour felt like a home away from home. The room I was given had all the comforts I needed...a very comfortable bed and nice plush pillows. The room was very clean and spacious enough by European standards. The staff was very nice, welcoming and extremely corteous and helpful. Location-wise, the hotel was literally a 5- minute walk to Place Bellecour and the major city attractions and exquisite shops and restaurants.
Personally I expect Sofitel to offer a glorious experience and Sofitel Bellecour satisfied this expectation. I had a double room with queen-size bed during a business trip on April. The room was beautiful with all the potential services, free of charge mini bar and a wonderful view to the river. The hotel has an excellent cocktail bar, while the breakfast was wonderful too. Service is great and the staff always gentle.
An excellent hotel in a convenient location in the centre of Lyon. Spacious rooms and helpful staff. The only drawback was the hairdryer in the room: it had no power at all. I would expect a 5 star hotel to have proper hairdryers in their rooms...
The best thing about this hotel is its location. For one thing, it overlooks the Rhone River. For another, it is located near Place Bellecour and the heart of the shopping centre. We found the front desk staff to be polite and helpful while the doormen were prompt in parking and picking up our car. We appreciated the extra-large TV screen in the room since it gave the effect of a home cinema screening. The breakfasts were a pure delight thanks to the spectacular view of the town from the 8th floor dining room. Apart from a memorable dinner at the Trois Domes restaurant, we also enjoyed drinks at the bar on the 8th floor. In short, this hotel enhanced the pleasure of our stay in Lyon.
This hotel is very conveniently located near place bellecour and most places a visitor wants to go. The room was nice but the best thing about this hotel are the striking views from the hotel bar. Go in the daytime, sunset or night to see Lyon. The staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside was the lack of WiFi. It was too slow to check email.
We visited Lyon for the first time recently, at the start of our honeymoon. Both my wife and I have visited France many times (and one of us previously lived there). Having never been to Lyon before, we were both completely charmed! The hotel was a fitting place for our new romance with another French city - directly in front of the Rhone river, and a short walk from the centre of town with its many delights. The hotel room we had was comfortable and quite generously sized, compared to many European hotel rooms. The front desk service was attentive and very welcoming. We'd be very happy to stay here again!
Great location, nearby everything you need on a visit to this city. Wonderful view over the river and surrounding areas at breakfast, which really sets you up for the day. To make a hotel really great in my opinion is the staff, and boy they do not disappoint, from the reception staff to the waiting staff over breakfast, nothing was too much trouble. The receptionist gave us some wonderful recommendations for places to eat, I’m just sorry I don’t rememeber his name. A special mention must go to Anges in the bar, every night we had a nightcap, and she was always there with a smile, checking everything was ok, and after the first night even remembering what we’d ordered and welcomed us back like friends. Thank you to all the staff, your management should be very proud.
We stayed eight nights at the Sofitel. The location was great and close to all of the attractions & city transportation. We were fortunate to book one of their special package deals that gave us a Junior Suite. The room was quite large with a separate sitting area and bedroom. The leather coach was quite worn and low to the ground. Also, our room was directly over the kitchen area - so somewhat noisy late in the evening. Service was friendly and good though.
This hotel , although in good location , services are very bad specially in room dining , as hot food are not served in-between major meals! Thought luck if arrive from a long flight and hungry! Lobby is not so great either. During breakfast you are lucky if you find any hot meal! This hotel is over over priced for quality of service offerd
Nice river view. Friendly receptionists and service personel. Centrally located, clean and comfortable place to stay in Lyon. Les Trois Domme restaurant is amazing place to eat Lunch or dinner. I would recomend this hotel.
