Found ourselves in a room close to the railway yards in an industrial/business area. Not really what a tourist wants to see. The mobile air conditioner could not be plugged into power as it had to be also have an air hose plugged into the window area. Go figure? Could not dine close by so had to do some walking. The room itself was quite roomy and comfortable enough. Good for a couple of cheap nights on business to the area.
Was a bit apprehensive about this place having read previous reviews. Paid £64 for the studio apartment for 2 nights for my son and I. Incredible value for what we paid. 10/15 walk from train station to hotel. Laura at reception very welcoming efficient and quick check in. Room great for what we paid. Clean. Large double bed. En suite. Kitchen area well equipped although not used. Just a place to sleep! Well impressed for what it cost. 30/40 min walk to centre of Lyon trams buses confusing although tube station close by to dodge the walk.
Stayed here during Euro 2016. The hotel is in a great location with it being just a 20 minute walk from the main train station which has regular trains to the whole of France. The metro system in Lyon is very easy to navigate around and it is even better that the hotel is located a 5 minute walk from a metro station. The room is very much like a apartment and was clean when we arrived. However we were very disappointed that our room was not cleaned or bedding changed during our 5 day stay. The female reception staff were very helpful however the male reception staff were quite grumpy and always on the phone when ever we went to speak to them. We were also charged €5 to use the wifi during our stay however some customers received this free of charge so question why you have to pay for it before paying. During our 5 day stay our key stopped working 4 times, this become very annoying after the second time. I used the Sauna on a regular basis and it was very clean and a good facility.
As per the cost and distance not very preferable hotel. rooms were not big enough to move around. Shower was not working and Bath tub should be covered. No calling information even not for reception. a
four stars would be stretching it for this place which is worth considering if the price is excellent and you really only need a place to crash for a night. Staff seemed ok, restaurant in the indoor courtyard stemmed ok, didn't try the pool or sauna. Room is basic and didn't use the kitchenette but everything was there. Bit grubby, so better for a lads sporting weekend than a place to bring the other half.
Excellent happy friendly people with a very interesting and picturesque old quarter the female receptionist at the hotel check-in desk was exceptionally friendly considerate and helpful - The Bellecour beautiful heart of LYON is surrounded by hills - the Tourist Office is located here - it is easily accessible via METRO at station GARIBOLDI near to the PARK SUITES HOTEL - just a very short walk across the square at BELLECOUR and turning slightly right there is a French Food Market close to the RHONE River. Further along from the Food Market there is a footbridge which leads over the river to the very interesting - National Heritage Protected - Old Town - Ascending onto the surrounding hills rewards the visitor with a panoramic view - right off into the distance - on a clear day - snow capped mountains can be seen !! - Excellent atmosphere throughout from some of the nicest, very friendly & welcoming French people, it is possible to meet, which adds to the experience - The welcome will be even more greatly enhanced - for those that make an attempt to speak French !!!
The hotel is centrally located wit bus stop, super market, tram very close. Metro and main train station with in 1Km with bus connection. Kitchen facility is good particularly for families with different food habits. Staff are coperative
We should've listened to the prior reviews but we didn't. It turned out everything they said on the reviews were true! We arrived at 2pm, the hotel wasn't even crowded but got turned away for check-in until about 3pm. The 2 guys working the desk are rude and stupid. The bigger guy is super rude while the skinny one is just plain stupid. The only NICER staff is the girl who happened to work in the office behind the f/d. The room is super hot and it's not even summer. We got the inside room, the windows open up to the dining area of its restaurant. Literally the temperature EVEN with both of the windows opened it was 10-15 higher than it was at the outside of the building. You couldn't really sleep earlier in the evening. Later on it got a bit cooler. I don't know how they obtained the 4 stars hotel which obviously did NOT meet the standard of a 4 stars hotel. STAY AWAY !! AVOID AT ALL COST !!!
This hotel is very close to a train station and a metro/subway stop. It is about a 15 subway ride to old Lyon. The room was clean but in need of an upgrade. You will want to ensure you don't have an inside room- that is, a room with windows facing the atrium. It was very warm (in February) and impossible to get cool. Even the fan didn't work. The breakfast was ordinary in quality and quite expensive (16 euros). Staff were quite helpful.
We visited during the heat wave in July 2015, and while we were initially told that there would be AC, it wasn't working. I can't remember being more hot in my life, and while the staff were apologetic and suggested all sorts of things to alleviate the heat, we had an unpleasant experience. On the bright side, the rooms are quite big.
