Very nice birthday dinner at Rossos. Food was excellent and the service the restaurant is well decorated in a typical Italien style. Italien Chef Marco was looking very well after us and made it a perfect evening.
My first trip to Lusaka. I really didn’t know what to expect at the hotel. It was very much equivalent to business hotels in Europe, a little bit faded in terms of decor however the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the room was fairly large and very clean and the food was good. I’ll definitely stay again on my next trip.
Stayed with my family. Nice outdoor facilities with a good pool. Breakfast is excellent in perfect location. Rooms are ok. Be aware that the reception staff always make problems for you. Nothing is ever easy fixed and everything takes time.
Buffet as we all know is “one payment” for the complete layout of food at 9.9999 / 10 establishments. However, my family and I were astonished as to be charged $22 per piece of meat on your plate. So if you pick a piece of beef, chicken leg & Pork chop your total bill will be $66. For Big second serving people this will be a repeat charge!! This all isn’t clearly listed at the concierge!!
Right in central Lusaka, the Intercontinental is a very practical option. The rooms are comfortable, the pool area is very pleasant, the staff are friendly and the food is decent. It won’t win any awards for charm and could do with a.bit of a facelift but a solid option.
Have stayed here a coupe of times recently and would definitely do so again. The staff are all very friendly, the rooms are immaculate, the indoor / outdoor restaurant has a great selection and the Italian restaurant does some terrific seafood! The Intercontinental is centrally located and the pool, gym and tennis courts are worth a look!
Safari Bar at the Intercontinental, Lusaka The ambience was good though service was slow with few waiters serving a packed house. Drinks were served an hour after we got here. #Friday night kill buzz!
I have stayed in the Intercontinental Lusaka a number of times over the years and will probably stay there next time I'm in Lusaka. It's a nice hotel that maintains a high international standard with good food, clean and well appointed rooms, and good service. I recommend staying on the club floor which has a lounge where you can have complimentary breakfast in the mornings, snacks throughout the day, and drinks and hors d'oeuvres during happy hour in the evenings. The staff in the lounge do a good job finding out what you need and getting it for you. Fred always knew what I wanted for breakfast, how I liked my coffee and was quick to find out what I needed whenever I walked into the lounge. The only problem I had was a couple of days with hot water and water pressure. There was plumbing work going on and a few times I had no hot water and one morning there was no water at all. This was inconvenient as I had to rearrange my schedule around the maintenance process. I mentioned this at checkout and the manager offered a satisfactory solution. So the issue was resolved. I recommend the Intercontinental when in Lusaka. Hopefully the water problems are now resolved so they won't be an inconvenience on future stays in this dependable hotel.
I stayed at the Intercon in 2016 for almost 7 months, being at the hotel for 2 weeks in a row then fly home for weekend and come back for another 2 weeks and this for 7 months. And I really loved the hotel. the staff is great, the gym is good, the breakfast is great, the rooms are good, then lounge is super and last but not least they give you the home away from home feeling. I also stayed in the other hotels in Lusaka but Intercon is the best!
I travel a lot so I am always in hotels and some hotels are very stingy and grabbing money wherever they can - others not so. It makes you uncomfortable when you realize that you are not in control of hidden costs in a hotel. This is what happened in the Intercon. Firstly the checking experience was arrogant and standoffish - are you really doing me a favor checking me in? secondly there were so many extra charges at the end. I really did not enjoy this experience and while it appears to be a good hotel - it is not. Staff definitely need retraining.
