Always good to be home once in a while and Radisson Blu provides the perfect, serene environment to hang out with family and friends. The ambiance is tip top and food sublime. A must for all coming here.
Rooms definitely needs renovation!! Bathroom toiletries needs to be changed. Hotel is at great locations and should take advantage of that. Breakfast spread was OK. Internet speed could have been better.
Not great, definitely not a five star hotel , it’s maybe two or three star hotel , cracked tiles in room, no hot water at night in the room . sunshade by pool was broken , no bedroom slippers were given .
I haven't stayed at this Radisson Blu since Feb/March 2016 and the gym has had a nice update - with improved machines and a few more cardio machines since the last time I was there. I used it 5/6 days. The women in the Uzuri Spa are very professional and I had a great deep tissue massage - she really listened to me. The staff are nice, but I did need to remind them a few different times of different issues - for example, I'd ask a staff something at the end of the day and instead of writing it down to tell the next shift, I'd be asked to ask the staff in the morning or vice versa. I was given an hour late check-out, but then my room key stopped working as did my internet. I had a reservation for me and a colleague and they very nicely gave my colleague the "welcome back" fruit & wine instead of me (Happy to have her have it, it was just interesting record keeping on the staffs part). I just think their staff system could use a bit updating. The pool bar cafe is nice that is has easy options, but there is a lot of people who smoke, so for me that was not enjoyable and I only sat out there one night. The selection at breakfast is great, but one day almost everything was out when I was down there at 8:30am.
For Lusaka, Radisson Blu is a good option if you are in town for business. I was hovering between 3 and 4 but issues on the last day dropped my points to 3. LOCATION 4 / 5 for location Opposite to one of the busiest crossroads in Lusaka, Radisson Blu is not in the town centre but there are some positive issues with the location. There are two shopping centres practically across the street and during Sundays there is the crafts market on the parking lot of Archades shopping centre and another part of it behind the Protea Hotel. Sheraton that has ranked high on TA is in the embassy area and around it there is really nothing. ARRIVAL 2 / 5 for the transfer Arriving from Johannesburg I had the hotel shuttle pre-booked. Or so I thought. There was however no one to meet at airport. After calling the hotel I learned the hotels shuttle had already gone and that there would be another one later. After a while the bus came and it took close to 45 minutes to reach the hotel because of traffic. I was quoted a price of 30USD for the transport transfer one way - a bit steep particularly as it the bus takes other passengers too. I will come back to the price. CHECK IN AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS 4 / 5 for check in The lobby looked African ‘modern’ - in other parts of the world one might call it bit outdated. The check in was fast and ok. ROOM 3 / 5 for the room There are three floors only at this hotel. My room was at the end of a long corridor. It was fairly large with tile flooring and again African ‘modern’ furniture and fittings. Bathroom was ok size, too. The room had a minibar that was empty - and even though it was empty a person came every day to check it! There is a lot of staff but the inconsistency started showing already early during my stay. POOL AND OTHER FACILITIES 3,5 / 5 for the pool and other facilities There is a pool at the back of the building - it looks better in reality than in pictures. Some 1st floor rooms open up to the peacock yard and the pool area. There’s also a bar next to the pool and a gym. During my stay the water in the pool was too cold for swimming - maybe it’s ok on a hot day but I doubt that it is heated. BREAKFAST 2 / 5 Breakfast at Radisson Blu is clearly an area where they have not paid attention. Service is attentive and fast but it the same every day and the choose of items is not that good. DEPARTURE There was some hassle on my departure date which really sank the points of Radission to 3. First, the price was not as quoted not for the accommodation nor for the transport. They seem to quote the prices in USD but charge them in ZMW and even then use a exchange rate is not correct. Also the room price was different than quoted. If you check out you WiFi will stop and getting a WiFi code was bit of a hassle.
In a city like Lusaka, which does not have a lot of things to do, a good hotel with amenities takes on increased importance. The Radisson Blu looks good but the hotel has many issues. There were several tiles in the floor of my room that were not fully attached to the floor. The pool and the gym were great though. I moved to this hotel from the Intercontinental because the conference was here and it was more convenient. There is a mall and some businesses across the main street which is nice. Beware room service and other services are quite limited. Looks like a five star hotel, but it is closer to a three star. However, with the limited options in Lusaka, this one or the Intercon are your best options.
The hotel is very nice. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the room is clean. I stayed here for 5 days for a work trip and was very pleased with the room and hotel overall. The bed is large and comfortable (great after 24 hours of travel!) and the bathroom is clean as well. The breakfast was especially nice and tasty! The only small issue I had was a few mosquitoes in the room so bring your repellent. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it for anyone traveling to Lusaka. (The pool area is also lovely!)
I stayed for 3 nights at the hotel and i already wished i could have shortened my stay for some silly reasons that could have made all the difference. First off, the reception staff are welcoming and professional but i wish i could say the same about the rest as my room remained uncleaned for 2 days. It seems the hotel is short on cleaning staff (??) or it could be that the management of the working hours of the team is failing big time. As i am on business, i used to leave the room in the morning and come back in the afternoon to see my room untouched. Then i used to leave back the hotel and come back evening time and still nothing has been done. There is no such thing as a leaflet to hang on the door room to indicate that room needs attention ! With that said, the morning breakfast is poor with only a few selections.
Stayed here for 4 nights. The breakfast was okay. Have a good hall for huge gatherings. Enjoyed the food off the menu. The salmon cones highly recommended. Good gym, was glad that I carried my kit. Very close to shopping malls. Walked to some in the evenings
Most high profile hotels tend to be conservative on space, this is one exception with this hotel, it has a bit more room. Location is fine, along the highway to airport and within easy access of two malls. Friendly and helpful staff.
