Beautiful vistas, would stay here again!

A few bugs inside the room, but kind of expected when staying in a National Park. There was hair all over the one bed, but it isna dog friendly park so maybe it was dog hair? It was nice, quiet and pretty though.

Great location in the middle of Shenandoah National Park. The property is dated but the best place to stay in the park for convenience sake. The restaurant has limited healthy food options for dinner but was good energy after a long day of hiking. Room amenities are from the 1970's but have warm water and electricity but no TV. Views from the Great Room while sipping a beer in the evening are spectacular.
During these trying COVID times, we felt that the management and staff at Big Meadows Lodge are going out of their way to keep customers and staff safe with their modified operational procedures. The location is terrific and the accommodations are much more than adequate for a rustic setting.
It’s in the park
I loved the look at the wildlife. The property needs updated. No AC and no fans. No WiFI. We did not have a screen door to let air in.
We were very excited to stay but were disappointed by the spiders in their webs in almost every corner of the room as well as the fact that the rooms have zero sound proofing so we had to listen to our baritone neighbor for hours.
Wonderful location, clean simple lodging, delicious food and local wines at this rustic lodge. This was a return trip for us, and we’ll come again.
Enjoyed the mountains and seeing different wildgame animals and birds
surrounded by peaceful quiet and natural beauty. This is the extent of my review. It should be enough for you.
Great place to stay as a "home base" as you explore the beauty of Shenandoah National Park
If your traveling the Skyline Drive you must stay here. The main lodge had wonderful views over the mountain, rocking chairs and a great big fireplace. The dining room was excellent and all very tastefully decorated and our rooms, although basic, were in character for the park.
This is a lovely location along the Skyline Drive. We had a traditional room, which, though small, had everything we needed and a comfortable bed. We were disappointed that the room was very dirty - the baseboards in particular were covered with old grunge and cobwebs. The overhead light was so poor that we had difficulty seeing inside at night. The restaurant was fine and we enjoyed the Taproom downstairs for good pizza a drinks. A few staff members made us feel welcome (especially our waiters in the restaurant and taproom), but the main desk and restaurant hostess seemed pretty uninterested. Overall a good, safe, convenient place to stay, but disappointing.
The beds are great in the room which has a nice cabin feel. The views are great and we got to see some deer. Bring a fan if you are planning on staying during warm weather. Our room did not have air conditioning. Most rooms don't have it. Make sure the screen is secure if you plan on putting your fan in the windowsills. A flashlight is a must as some areas are not well lit at dark. The food was great.
This is a rustic, clean, comfortable place nestled in the heart of the Shenandoahs--just what you want to feel like you are part of nature and living as lightly on the planet as possible. It's simple but welcoming, close to all the trails, with friendly, helpful staff. Nature is just outside your door! We'd gladly come back--and are planning our next trip there already.
