I spent the weekend at Villa Marta with my best friend and we had the most wonderful relaxing time. The place is very sophisticated yet simple and the staff is the best hotel staff I’ve experienced in a very long time.

We recently stayed for four nights at Alberto Villa Marta in Lucca. The Villa was charming with very comfortable, clean, spacious rooms, picturesque surroundings, delicious food and a tremendous staff that made sure all of our needs were taken care of and that our stay was fantastic. It was the perfect place to relax in Tuscany in between our visits to several larger cities in Italy. The town of Lucca is quaint and we found plenty to do while there. We highly recommend Villa Marta and hope to return one day soon!

My husband and I stayed here recently for 2 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Very relaxing, quiet and lovely well kept gardens and grounds. Rooms were a good size and traditionally furnished. Very clean and comfortable. Our room was in the old wing, upstairs with a lovely view. Breakfast was served in their beautiful new restaurant. Plentiful and of a high quality. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was just lovely. The villa is about a 10 minute drive into Lucca so you definitely need a car. I rented a great bike for 5 euros ( half a day fee) and rode into old Lucca town. Took about 20 minutes to ride there. Would highly recommend staying here. A real authentic Tuscan experience.

We spent three nights in the newly renovated Chapel Suite and I can't say enough great things about it. It was beautifully done and felt like it was a world away from everything else. It was definitely a unique experience! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the restaurant, especially with its new expansion, is a great asset. Villa Marta is convenient to Lucca and the surrounding areas, and we found it to be the perfect base while we were in the area.

We only stayed here one evening when we first arrived in Italy, and we hope to return for a longer stay to enjoy Lucca and the surrounding area. I believe we were the first guests of the new season. The service was wonderful and helped to arrange our delicious dinner plans. We had experienced a long day and a half of traveling, so we were happy to enjoy a long sleep in our comfortable room.

We enjoyed our stay here, tucked away from the road and the town. The restaurant was closed for the winter but there is a really excellent alternative a few hundred metres away. Our room had a lovely view over the garden and hills beyond. Breakfast was good, the common areas pleasant and the staff delightful. If you want something away from the bustle of Lucca, this is an excellent choice.

We stayed here a couple nights after leaving Florence so we could explore the lovely cities of Lucca and Pisa. Our room was country style and very warm and welcoming, and the staff was also very welcoming and helpful thourhgout our stay. The location is very quite and peaceful which was exactly what we needed after a couple days in Rome and Florence. It is a bit hard to find as it’s not in the main portion of Lucca and has quite the fun road getting to the property, but it is well worth it. The reasturant on site is also AMAZING! My husband was in love with the octopus dish he had. This was probably one of our favorite hotels we stayed at during our week tour of Tuscany.

I took a week here to tour Tuscany with my 85 year old father. I chose it because it isn’t your usual boring hotel but rather set in the most beautiful gardens with a quirkiness all of its own. The 2 owners and a few staff work very hard to make this place and it’s clear they have ambitions .. I understand they will be adding more rooms, a larger kitchen this winter and an all weather conservatory and I wish them well with that. They deserve to make a great success of this place as it’s in a beautiful breathtaking location. The pool looked very nice and clean but in October even at 24 and sunny it was too cold to enter except for the very hardy. The birdsong in the garden was lovely. The rooms are clean and rural Tuscan simplicity. I thought the bed was fantastic as I love a very firm mattress and the linens were crisp and high quality. The rooms were kept very clean. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and of good quality. Our plan menu dinners were also of good quality. I would make only a few observations to achieve an even higher rating. They could do with a couple more staff so they can focus even on more on the guests and serve more than snack lunches. When they add more rooms they will need to do this and they could benefit from checking some of their electrics. Providing bathrobes regardless of room price/class would also be more appropriate for the ambiance of stars they deserve to have. I also hope in the rebuilding works the kittens living in the grounds will be looked after! But the views of mountains, the peace and quiet, the olive groves and their wonderful property make this a very special place. I wish them much success and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it for couples wanting a romantic place to unwind.

We stayed only one night but wish we had stayed longer. Francesco and his entire staff are great and the breakfast (included with room) was very nice. They also have bikes for rent and the easy bike ride to Luca was only 20 minutes. Our dinner the night before was very well prepared and the service was excellent. Our corner room # 113 was spacious, clean and very comfortable.

Thank heavens for good GPS in the car and I had read a review about not missing a turn it could be difficult to find. Up on our arrival the grounds are amazing. The hotel is more of a B & B. The lobby is on the 2nd floor and they did not offer ANY help to get our bags. We were tired from our day otherwise i would have asked for a change in room. I would make sure that you are not in the room right off the lobby. I really don't have any complaints, the hotel was lovely. Staff was --eh, not overly friendly. Breakfast was only ok.
