I visited the hotel's restaurant with my partner and in-laws this weekend. We expected truly great things from such an esteemed hotel chain, and to be quite frank, we left feeling deflated and dissatisfied. We indulged in the hors d'oevres available and they were not terrible, but not great either. The tomato and chilli soup was sickly sweet and the chicken wings were dry with a flavourless crumb. Although the offer of unlimited salamis and breads seemed tempting, we felt we should save room for the main course and not over-indulge on the bland offerings. Our mains included the Mal Beef Roast, the fishcakes and the Mal burger. The beef roast was pink (which is to my liking), but cold in the centre. It came with some honey-glazed veg (also cold) and a yorkshire pudding. I must say, the roast potatoes were the star of the show. They were both crisp and fluffy and seasoned perfectly. My mother-in-law's fishcakes were a litte on the dry side, though resting on a large clump of greasy spinach. My partner's burger was very greasy on the outside and dry as a bone inside. We would have made someone aware of this entree catastrophe if someone had actually checked on our table during the meal, but unfortunately we werent so lucky. Finally, desserts. Not so sweet, unfortunately. All 5 of my family chose the sticky toffee pudding. 4 plates returned to the kitchen uneaten, with no replacements in sight. A kind waitress did, however, remove them from the bill. The puddings were thick, heavy and weirdly gelatinous? We would love to know why. I opted for the treacle tart and was not disappointed. It was truly decadent and Malmaison must be praised for this sweet miracle. I am not one to leave bad reviews, and I am someone who can typically eat anything put infront of them, however, I cannot shirk the atrocity that was this dining experience. I do hope the food improves, as the staff are wonderful, kind and helpful and deserve to be proud of the food they serve, and of course, diners deserve good food for the price. I'm sorry, but I will not be recommending this restaurant to any friends or family, or to you fellow reviewers and readers.
Had a lovely stay at the hotel and would definitely return. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room was beautiful. Will remember the stay as it was the night I got engaged! 11.11.2017 Thank you for a lovely, relaxing stay.
Really don’t like publishing this review as I really like this hotel and we have stayed here a few times and at this time of year always return for seasonal shopping but I think a few things need to be mentioned to management for people to return back to this lovely hotel as satisfied customers. On checking in we were given a room that was already taken thank god when we walked in there was only there personal belongings on the bed ! With a hasty retreat back to reception we got moved to another room. This for me is an absolute no no we’ve had this actually happen to us in a hotel ,come on reception sort it out ! . Booked into the restaurant and from ordering food ,starter it took 40 minutes to come ,mains another 20 ,my wife was given a bottle of wine on meal deal ,my drink didn’t come ,basically had to go to bar TWICE for my own drink cause of no service even tables next to us were shaking there heads ,lots of apologies from staff for food been delayed but tables after us coming in been served food and drink ? Baffled 😕.lastly booked room for 12 o’clock check out next day thought brilliant just chill out ,ten oclock in morning one knock and in walks blonde hair girl as wife literally pulling on her top ,with oh sorry and then disappears totally out of order, then obviously cleaners there on floor 5 making a right racket ,me and wife in room thinking there wanting us out to clean ,then literally half an hour between first cleaner coming in ,in walks another one black hair this time with a “oh I’ve got the wrong room “ .I don’t know what these two girls were up to but this behaviour is unacceptable totally unfair all this has been told to management on leaving and we were given a discount on leaving with apologies, We will be back to the malmaison can’t fault the rooms and some of the staff but there’s certain individuals letting the standard the hotel deserves down, we’ve left disappointed, love Liverpool come on management sort it 🤔👍
We stayed two nights for a wedding and it was absolutely lovely, fantastic customer service from all areas, super clean and the black out curtains in the rooms are awesome. Would definitely recommend to others looking for a comfortable stay.
A wonderful hotel, beautiful rooms excellent service. The rooms are spacious and very clean, tastefully decorated in a contemporary style Would 100% recommend and would love to return here. Brilliant location for the dockside and central for most visitor attractions.
My partner and I enjoyed our stay here although I was a little worried at first because of its location. Yes the hotel is away from the main shops, bars etc. but it's an enjoyable walk along the docks to get to Liverpool One etc. From the website this hotel looks really posh but to be honest the Premier Inns are just as nice. I'm pleased I didn't pay the normal full price rate as it definitely isn't worth it. There is no parking with the hotel you have to use the multi-storey opposite which cost us seventeen pounds for one night. Beware of breakfast as it costs extra for a cooked breakfast.
We have just finished a two day stay in this beautiful hotel. Rooms were spotlessly clean and decor was lovely. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We didn't really use hotel facilities much because it was our first time in Liverpool and we wanted to explore but we will be back again.
I went here for Sunday lunch with unlimited appetisers. I thought the appetisers were ok but was not impressed with the Sunday roast. I had beef but found some parts of it tough and some ok. I thought the vegetables were too hard and not enough gravy plus it was all pretty cold. It tasted ok but couldn’t enjoy it. Pretty disappointed
Really enjoyable stop. Quality all round to be honest and in a great city. We booked on a deal which was really good value. Customer service was excellent, room was really nice and food was exceptional.
Stayed here for business trip. Its a lovely hotel. The entrance is gorgeous. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are so comfortable. The staff are polite and professional. The corridors could do with a bit of brightening, they are so dark. Breakfast was nice with a wide choice of food.
