The Hotel itself is okay, perhaps a bit too much dim lighting in the corridors and the beds were comfortable enough. I had checked in with one of my party putting the room on a company credit card, so later when I asked for room service I was refused and told that I'd need to go down to reception and pay them £50 on my credit card first, given that I wanted to spend £20, this seemed unreasonable and if they don't trust me, why would I trust them to give me £30 back at a later date /time? Apparently they can't take cards in the rooms because their machines don't have the range (probably because the wifi is terrible) and they refuse to take the money in the morning on checkout. Yes, I know that many hotels 'pre-authorise' cards, however I still resent being treated as a potential thief by Hotels such as this, Contrasting to this, I stayed in Düsseldorf a week later and the Hotel there, did not treat me, or other guests as a thief and I paid for everything in the morning. Sorry, but I do not buy the 'it's company policy' routine or that folk leave without settling their food / drink bills. The hotel has all guests details and given that recently in the news, a lady was prosecuted for theft for lifting a £20 note from the floor in a store; I'm pretty sure they could get the cash and / or prosecute. Tellingly their complimentary shampoo says on the bottle 'the best shampoo you will ever steal' - that says all you need to know about the attitude of Malmaison's management. I simply don't believe the amount of folk doing this in the UK is high enough and again, why is it in Germany they're much more relaxed about it?

The hotel overall is very nice and clean, and the drinks at the bar are good. However, customer service was terrible, we had to wait 10 minutes to check on whilst the man on the desk had a chat on the phone, and had to wait 20 minutes for drinks as the bar staff were unable to serve one person each.

Just had two nights here, whilst the hotel was lovely it was the staff that let it down. I requested some warm milk sending to the room as I was not feeling great and the girl on reception advised it would be sent straight up .... never appeared! We asked 3 times at breakfast for gluten free toast that never materialised... now it might seem like I'm being picky but I have always loved Malmaison and have stayed in both Leeds & Manchester numerous times with wonderful service, Liverpool let itself down, will I return? Not sure.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and had a fab time. Check in was quick and our room was very modern and the bathroom was amazing! Only gripe we had was that it's about 10-15 mins walk into the centre of Liverpool, this didn't bother us during the day but at night we didn't feel safe walking home,so we got a taxi the rest of the time if we were coming back late. We never ate in the bar night but we did have a few drinks in there each night, it was very quiet but relaxing. Overall this is a lovely hotel, very modern but gave 4 stars only because of location.

Stayed in the Kop Suite which was tremendous. Staff are excellent and the breakfast and in room dining is of a high quality. Located on the river in a very quiet area. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed for business in a standard double room for two nights. Here's my breakdown: Reception: - Slow, not overly friendly. Rooms: - Great room even if mine looked at a main road in the back. - Bed very comfortable - Mini Bar and snacks available but massively overpriced. - rooms are quiet Food: - Really good. Would recommend the mal burger and eggs Benedict. - Price of food is expensive. Location: - Not bad, however is a taxi journey to get into town. General Feel: - Really stylish and I like walking into the reception area. Bar Staff: - Ironically all the staff other than reception were excellent. Price of the room: - I thought this was reasonable having only paid £75 per night. Overall: - In my view a middle of the road 4 star hotel

This is a beautifully decorated hotel with brilliant views of the Liverpool docks. The bed was really comfortable and there are huge walk-in showers. The staff were friendly to. My only criticism is that the restaurant is not vegan-friendly.

The overall experience of the hotel was amazing, I took my boyfriend here for two nights for his birthday as I had also purchased Liverpool tickets. As soon as we walked in the hotel was amazing and the staff all around were very kind and helpful, couldn't do any more for you. The room was lovely was very clean, and a very good size and overall brilliant. Also the hotel is walking distance from all the shops in the centre and taxis were also a great price as everything is very close. The breakfast was lovely and so was the bar in the evening as we went for drinks. Overall, we both couldn't fault the hotel and will definitely be returning.

Having stayed here on previous occasions we immediately noticed that our room was looking a little tired compared to the high standards we'd previously experienced. Carpets were stained and threadbare in places, furniture worn and plumbing was noisy. Expected a lot more for £230 for one night, and with all the competion in Liverpool I don't think we'll be returning.

My wife and I took her Dad to see how the Dock area of Liverpool had changed in the years since he sailed in and out of there as a merchant seaman. While it is still clearly a work in progress it is obvious what thought has gone into merging the old with the new and most of it succesfully. Malmaison is on the docks and is a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. Pity about there not being any olives and pity about the slow service and relatively inexperienced staff. For all their inexperience they did deal very well with some difficult requests
