Vila Gale Opera

extremely noisy hotel due to bridge with cars and trains, busy main road and trams and a flight path directly over. The patio space had to be cleaned from dust pollution every morning. Conversations were stopped or we shouted to be heard. The hotel is quite isolated. You have to walk a considerable distance to find shops, bars and restaurants. The Docks area is nice but very noisy too. The LX factory is fab for eating and getting a good vibe. My room had a painted white wall for a view and part of the bridge.

Booked in error. We actually needed Vila Gale hotel in Oeiras, don't make this mistake. There is definitely a difference in quality. Lobby is nice but a basic hotel. Simple, clean room, dated fixtures, although I was told in reception I had a nice room, wondering what the alternative is. Limited sockets in the room. Very small bathroom that the door hits the toilet. Most importantly no iron in room, for a hotel that seems only suitable for business I find this poor form. To have a blouse ironed was 6 euro, expected, but ridiculous. I would expect there are better hotels in this price range. Will not return.

Firstly, the location. Vila Gale Opera is situated just in the vicinity of the 25 de Abril bridge over the Tagus river of Lisboa. Just 5 min walk away, you would find an immensely inspiring jogging track running adjacent to the bank of Tagus River - fresh air, clean neighbourhood and fitness enthusiasts. The location of this hotel is very near to the Tower of Belem and Jeronimos monastery. You can walk, you can run, you can hitch a tram - I mean, the world is at your feet. The connectivity of this hotel to rest of Lisboa is not a problem - since the public transport system of Lisbon is robust. The hotel itself is good. The cleanliness is well cared for. The staff is polite and helpful. The ambience is nice and appealing. Though I believe that the mannequin dolls that they have displayed in the lobby are overbearing and not particularly tasteful. They have an impact (atleast the first time) - to which I agree. The rooms are average. Not much leisure, only basic. The phones in the rooms are archaic. But more irritating is the fact that reception takes ages to answer. The toiletries are tolerable. The view from the room is a matter of your dimensional space. My room viewed the Tagus river harbour and also the pillar of 25 de Abril bridge. I felt nice to have stayed with them. I wanna visit them again for the track and the location.

Arrived late in the evening but still on time for dinner. Restaurant was open till 22:30. Friendly staff and good food. For 4 star hotel carpet in the corridor should be replaced, it looks dirty and smells. Room was clean and quiet. Notice some signs of maintenance (need to paint replaced parts on the bathroom doors. Overall hotel was ok, even for longer stay is fine because is not too far from old city downtown.

For a short stay, this hotel is ok. Rooms with filthy carpeting. Air conditioner defective. Poor acoustic insulation. The noise of traffic can be heard. Cleanliness of the bathroom is very well done. Average.

I stayed for 2 nights and I can't complain. Room service was fast. Breakfast was good and had lots of options. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. In order to get to downtown Lisbon you have to take a cab since it isn't walking distance.

This hotel has it all. It looks fairly new in very good condition with a nice pool and gym. The stall are friendly and efficient. The Breakfast (until 10:30am) is very good with many hot and cold items and custom made grill station. A lock for the safe will cost you 2.5 euros/day. The hotel is located right under the bridge across the river so you have easy access to the river and all the restaurants and bars at the docks. You also have local stores and restos on the opposite side of the hotel in a quiet area. You can catch a tram to the downtown or walk as we did a few kms to commerce square for shopping, dining, or tours. Any of the hop-on hop off buses are a great way to get to know the city. Also, you can walk the boardwalk along the river across from the hotel going right towards several monuments including the Belem tower. Will definitely return to Lisbon and this hotel will be on our return list.

Reasonably priced, good buffet breakfast and evening restaurant well organised with a variety of good food. Rooms clean and comfortable and staff very helpful. Tram and bus stops nearby, also trains so access to the city is easy. We also used taxies and the little Tuk tuk buggies. Also went on a boat trip on theRiver Tagus, lovely views

I was there for a meeting at the conference centre with a few days &R added on. As a business hotel it was great - very businesslike with conference and meeting facilities and very close to the convention centre (5 mins walk). As a leisure hotel it was ok but it was full of visiting coach parties (new loads of foreign tourists in each day) and this made breakfast a bit of a free for all. there were all the standard amenities - a nice bar, gym , restaurant etc etc. the location is some way out of town - public transport is plentiful and cheap (we used taxi, tram , bus and train and all worked fine and were cheap Belem is walking distance away . There is a pool with outside decking which was fine apart from the noise..which is probably the key element that makes this good rather than excellent.Noise comes from: planes going into airport - the hotel is on the flight path; Road/rail in front of hotel; There is a 3 lane highway in front of the hotel with a train line going down the middle; Construction noise - they are rebuilding the bridge next door and there is construction noise during the day; Road/Rail noise from the bridge - a steady drone of traffic at all hours and an incredible noise when a train went over. In your room it is ok but walking around or in external areas - bar, swimming pool, street - the noise is incredible. we slept well and enjoyed our stay but for a charge of 125 euros a night the noise levels make it less than value for money. The staff were great, efficient, helpful. Our taxi to the airport was only 16 euros.

The hotel was a good base for us, close to the main tram line and just about within walking distance (about 45 minutes) of where we needed to be for a work conference which was close to the main centre of Lisbon so this perhaps wouldnt be your first choice of hotel if you wanted to be more central. The rooms were nice although wifi only available in the hotel reception and then not particularly strong signal. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We didnt eat any other meals there so I cant comment on other food. The room had a safe with no lock - presume you had to pay extra for this which I felt was a bit petty. I would recommend though that you take flat comfortably shoes to Lisbon, all pavements are cobbled and uneven so difficult to negotiate in anything else!!! We took a taxi from the airport and were grossly over charged - 30 euros - should have been 15 - 20 apparently. When we left we took the underground train - 1.90 euros this was easy to negotiate.
