Situated along the borders of the slow Tejo river, this charming hotel brings hospitality with elegance. The staff is abundantly present in numbers and friendliness. The interior design of our room is tasteful and the bed has a very pleasant size. Once the windows are closed, street noise fades. The bathroom is just as tasteful as the room itself, but with a minor unpleasant detail: the entire floor gets wet after one shower. But nothing to complain about: we had a great time.
We spent three nights at the LX. Our first impressions were positive: check-in was friendly and helpful. Our room was on the third floor - bright and fresh with a large window opening onto a small balcony. The bed was large and very comfortable and, whilst modestly-sized, the room was perfectly adequate for our needs. The air-conditioning was effective and I thought that the shower/basin/toilet pod was a clever design which worked well. There is quite a bit of derelict property in this area (albeit that development is taking place and investment is upgrading the district) so, given the aspect of the building, you have a choice of being located on one of the two sides overlooking a busy road junction or the remaining one facing an empty, boarded up site but which is much quieter below. Our room was in the latter category. The only thing stopping a good night's sleep is a club in the same block as the hotel but below ground level. Unfortunately, our stay coincided with an international football game and revellers spilled outside the club in the early hours. On the whole though, with shutters closed, the club shouldn't disturb you unduly. The hotel boasts a sushi restaurant in the bar/dining area. Whilst this isn't particularly something that appeals to me, I can see the logic in providing a different kind of venue which will be used by locals who are interested in experiencing a different cuisine. The downside is that I didn't feel it catered adequately for hotel guests. My wife and I wandered in for a nightcap after dinner in the centre of town. My first request for a glass of Madeira was treated with bemusement. After considerable consultation amongst the staff, they concluded that this could not be provided. OK - let's move on: a glass of dry white wine, perhaps? Again, we were out of luck: with the exception of port and muscatel, wine is not sold by the glass - only by the bottle. Frankly, I find that unacceptable for a hotel bar and the news was delivered without much grace. In conclusion, therefore, there's a lot to commend the LX - it's a good location and the rooms are of a more than reasonable standard. On the other hand, I think more consideration should be given to creating relaxation space for guests in public areas (even though I accept that the amount of space available is constrained).
The staff at this hotel are exceptional--professional, friendly, helpful, and totally fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish (and probably more languages). The rooms and service are impeccable. I love the location--a short walk to the river and close to Chiado and other commercial districts with lots to see. Enjoy!
Loved our stay here. Right in the heart of Lisbon ...everything about this hotel was great.. large rooms and serviced beautifully each day x staff were so friendly and helpful would recommend to all x in house restaurant was a legendary Sushi specialist and they pride themselves on huge Gin& Tonics. Can't complain about that!
We found this hotel to be very nice. It was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. If we left our windows open at night it was noisy, but once we closed them it wasn’t too bad. Breakfast was very good, hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Also, great location. Would stay here again.
We stayed one night and will be back. EASY to get to from the airport. Great walks from there. Eat at Ramiro's for the best shellfish of your life! TAP allows layovers as well so add Lisbon on! Breakfast was great. English spoken by all staff as well. I cannot say enough good.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. It is very central with waterfront views, very close to TimeOut Market and directly across the road from the Train station so you can easily access Cascais etc...The tram runs directly past the front door which is really gives the authentic Lisbon feel. The Praca do Commercial is also a comfortable 5 mins walk from front door, so a really wonderful location. The decor is somewhat funky and cool. But a lot of IKEA stuff so not all that "boutique" really. Many of the rooms are noisy due to the hotels proximity to the busy roundabout and late bars / night clubs surrounding the hotel. Some of the corridors smell of damp / water ingress. The breakfast is very basic. The sheets and towels are tired / stained. Some of the staff think they are too cool for school / therefore come across rude. Overall, the hotel is ok. But expensive for what it is.
It's a true boutique hotel, with elegant rooms with a touch of modern, comfortable beds, rain showers and fluffy towels! Great location close to the river promenade, walking distance to most touristic attraction. Restaurants and bars in the vicinity, walking minutes away from Chiado and Bairro alto neighbourhoods. Breakfast buffet was good but simple, nice bread and pastries, fresh fruit, however minimal variety of cheese and hams, no veggies. The coffee machine was overwhelmed, don't expect a good cappuccino here. Min point- no fresh orange juice but a poor version of a boxed juice and that in one of the largest citrus fruit producing countries.... Sushi lovers, don't miss their sushi restaurant - very creative and original sushi recipes, unique tastes and presentations. Totally recommended! Overall, very good experience, helpful friendly staff!
We stayed at this hotel for our wedding anniversary in August 2017 and it was excellent. We booked room 505, the roof-top suite and it was a really great room, with excellent views. The only negative was actually the welcome drink and sushi! The staff were anything but welcoming - fortunately we didn't see them again. All other staff, facilities, breakfast and location were superb. Highly recommended.
The suite in this hotel was absolutely stunning! The decor was traditional and beautifully done! Bed was very comfortable and the roof top terrace the absolute highlight! Breakfast was very good and the dining area a beautiful space. Hotel is in an ideal location, super close to Cais Sodre train station and Time Out marketplace. Would definitely return. The only thing is that some staff were a bit aloof and the room service delivery charge a bit steep at 12 euros. The sushi here is exceptionally good too!
