I stayed one night here, and it was nothing special - the hotel is quite old, the rooms are decorated with old furniture and tv's (the bath towels tear when I tried to clean myself, that's how old they were). Have no idea if the breakfast was good - my student says it was good - but the room views are absolutely incredible. The hotel is at walking distance of the sea. The location is not good if you need to be in Lisbon - you'll get a lot of traffic jams trying to reach the hotel at the end of the afternoon or trying to reach Lisbon in the morning. Although old, the room was clean and was pleasant.

The hotel was probably built in the late 70's or early 80's, but since then no renovation was conducted. The light brown (maybe white!?) carpets were dirty of 30 years patches, all the walls and furniture were worn. The restaurant was OK, the food and the vine were satisfactory. The room was cleaned every day. The water pressure was stabile, BUT TEMPERATURE of the water was swinging all the time between 50 °C and 17 °C, in every 20 seconds. It was very hard to have a shower. This Hotel in other places would not have 4, maximum 2,5 stars!

Hotel booked due to lack of availability in Lisbon. Whatever the price - do not book this hotel. Peeling paint. Stinking drains. Filthy carpets. Plastic bed covers. No room safe. Swimming pool is probably the only redeeming feature.

This hotel was probably gorgeous in the 1970's and we were told they are refurbishing the top two floors at present. We booked for a 7 night stay based on their listing and photos on booking.com. I should have checked Tripadvisor! We arrived at 11pm at night and shown to our rooms. The bedroom corridors are in need of re-carpeting (so badly stained) and walls and doors need care. Further disappointment as we saw our rooms, the carpets were so badly stained, the walls were badly scuffed as was the woodwork on the doors. Beds and pillows were very basic. On the plus side, the bed linen was clean and the bathrooms were ok and the air conditioning worked. The lights in the room didn't turn on and we couldn't open the door to one of the bedrooms so we went back down to the night porter for assistance. A nice man but not too helpful. When I said that the bedroom was not a 4* and that we were being charged high season full rates, he pointed to the (Crumbling) balcony and said but the views - this was not 11:30pm and it was pitch dark! I calmly said that the views may be beautiful but we were paying to stay in a 4* hotel! The next morning, the view from the breakfast room was beautiful. Breakfast was just ok. I could go on, I won't; we spoke to the Manager the next day, whom was very understanding, and we checked out. We were charged full price for the night we stayed but reimbursed for the next 6 nights. We were paying high season 4* prices for what would nowadays be considered a very basic 2* hotel.

Very disapointing. The hotel is not even a two star standard. We paid nearly 200 for a night stay in a double toom with extra bed including dinner and breakfast. The meals were ok, the bars were closed, the room was very small, the mattresses were very hard, the pool was freezing cold. The hotel needs some renovations outside, the paint is falling off, the carpets are old and dirty, the staff are unhappy. I am not going back, they have deceived a lot of people and there is not good value for money. Do not stay there.

Do not stay at this hotel! I am not one to care about what a standard hotel is like, however this hotel is a dump! It does not deserve the 4* rating!! First things first, the hotel claims it is near good nightlife, this is a lie, it's a 30 minute journey into the centre for good nightlife/restaurants. Save yourself time and money and just stay nearer the centre and come out during the day for a beach day. Our first day at the hotel, we went to the beach, when we came back the maid had left our door unlocked, we were furious about this and asked to speak to the manager, of course the reception staff said he/she was not here. They said there's nothing they can do about it except for talk to the maids in the morning... We asked for the iron, it took them a whole day to give it to us because they only have one iron in the whole hotel! So we had to go out in creased clothing 😒 There were two of us in the room, the maids would only give us one large body towel a day and a few hand towels. We explained to the reception team that we needed one more, they clearly did not understand that you can't dry your body with a hand towel.. they were very rude and dismissive, not helpful at all in the slightest! I bought a present for family back home, it had disappeared after the maid cleaned up. Once again we called the reception, they put us on hold for a long time, but we could hear them serving other customers over the counter... they couldn't understand... finally they said they would speak to the maids in the morning... I heard nothing back from them. We asked what time check out was... the receptionist bit our head off when we asked nicely if we could have a later check out because of our late flight. We were only given one seat on the balcony so one of us had to stand whilst chilling before we went out. We hardly used the balcony, it was a lovely view, however there was birds poo all over the floor.. the maids would Hoover the patio but they did not get rid of the mess... it needed a good wash! The breakfast was horrible, no selection, warm milk for the cereal, the juice was just sugar. Overall the staff are rude, the maids aren't trustworthy and the hotel is a dump! Do not stay here!

I stayed here years ago but they haven´t done anything since than. It is dirty, old, full of mould. They clean rooms every day but only the rooms. On there floor there were for 3 days an empty PET bottle and faq butts no one cleaned. The breakfast also is something with room for improvement, the juice is just colored suggar, The bar at the basments is closed and the one on the top opens only on demand. A door of the fire exit to the staircase I could not open, another was half blokced by chairs. Also the are outside of the hotel is not cleaned, dried and no one really looks after it. Therefore a price of 100,-€ night is realy imprudent.

My partner stayed one night there whilst on Portugal recently. The room was old and shabby and the toilet didn't flush properly. This is the least one could expect on holiday . He didn't try the breakfast as he felt the hotel was so tabby he didn't want to, This hotel needs a complete over all as soon as possible. The room tariff posted by the hotel was a lot more than on a well known booking site for hotels. Don't stay there .

Currently staying at your hotel in the room 420. The room is dirty, cold and disgusting to be in. I am asking to be moved to a different room as soon as possible but the reception staff is terrible and rude. We will be filing an official complaint against the hotel and the dirty and unhealthy conditions that are dangerous to the people who have a medical issue.

We were dissapointed at first, the first night the floor that we were on was full of teenagers playing and making noise in the hallway, after some phone calls to the reception at 2 am we were able to fall asleep. The room had an ocean view which was a plus but the carpet was dirty and the doors made noises ( everybody in our group complained about the room) . The restaurant on the 8th floor had a lovely view but at breakfast the food had no diversity, so we would had to buy something to eat from the supermarket/restaurant near us. The food at dinner was better. Carcavelos doesn t have souvenir shops so take the train and do the shopping elsewhere.
