Very friendly and helpful staff. It feels like a home away from home. The house is clean, and very close to the train and several bus routes. Free continental breakfast daily. The beach and restaurants are in walking distance. There is a laundromat within walking distance for longer stays to wash/dry your clothes.

The owner, Sofia and the staff, Betinha, Fatima, Patricia are very welcoming. They are very knowledgeable about the area and were able to give me helpful advice and tips. The house is clean and well decorated. It’s in walking distance to the beach, boardwalk and the shopping district. There is a bus stop a few yards away. I would definitely come back for another stay.

Fab house in Monte Estoril

Beautiful old house, in perfect condition , 5 mins uphill from Monte Estoril estacao. Lovely , healthy, varied breakfasts , great staff, especially Fatima . We had the run of the house and access to free port & biscuits in the comfy living room. We also had a kettle & cups in tbe entrance lobby. We'd score this a perfect 10 if only it had a heated towel rail in the bathroom.We got wet a few times & needed to be able to dry our clothes , but couldnt . There were radiators , but they weren't on.Even so, a fabulous place to stay, on the Lisbon coastal line. 10 mins walk to Cascais along beach promenade & 35 mins into Lisboa by train. Will return , at a slightly warmer time of year .

Love this place!

I would choose this place over a hotel any day. I walked in feeling like I walked into someone's beautiful home and at the same time, it has everything you would want that you get at a hotel. The room has hairdryer, modern bathroom and everything you need. I was traveling for a conference and was actually sad not to be able to spend more time "at home" while there. The kitchen was great as extra grateful for the coffee I was able to get even with it being outside of the breakfast hours. I would definitely stay again and would say that if your looking for a charming experience that is way beyond a hotel stay, than Shanti Niketan is worth the trip on it's own.

I loved being a guest here, just had a few issues re access with a big car (Renault Megane). This is an ideal location in Monte Estoril, extremely hospitable and solicitous hosts, charming and unique cultural/spiritual decor, and very reasonable rate (Jan 2019). Very comfortable, with ample living space including access to drawing room, and full facilities (incl TV!) in each "cuarto" room. Free parking onsite in secure and gated premises. Access to electronic gate for parking, proceed carefully according to traffic conditions. Final word, I will happily return as a guest.

Lovely guesthouse in nice residential area

We stayed for two weeks so we could combine a beach holiday with sightseeing. Our room was very comfortable and had every thing we needed. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The breakfasts were different each day and always very nice. Easy to catch the train for Lisbon and Belem. Bus stop outside the hotel for SIntra. Loads to do in Cascais, don't miss the Paula Rego gallery.

Lovely little guest house in a quiet area

Wonderful B and B, beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable. Lovely landlady and staff. Very helpful and friendly, with an impressive repertoire of languages, but not overbearing. Breakfast served till 10am so we could enjoy a lie in! Close to the beach, bus and trains. Peaceful garden area.

close to the beach ( about 200m), good restaurants nearby (200m), train to Lisbon nearby (200m), train takes about 35 minutes, comes every 30mins. Cascais easy walking along promenade or one stop on train. All good!

A little gem in Cascais

We had a lovely time. Sophia and her staff made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was lovely, tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room, milk was left in the fridge for us every day. The whole house was made available for our use, the standard of cleanliness was very high. Sophia gave us advice on things to do in the local area and where to eat also. Cannot fault anything at all.

lovely stay at a lovely casa

we stayed for 3 nights 19th-22nd sept & had a great stay. the people who run the property are very helpfull, nothing is to much trouble, also met the owner who is also a lovely helpfull lady who takes time to go round people at breakfast & have a chat. the rooms are lovely & clean & breakfast is continental with the option of a cooked breakfast at a cost, we would not hesitate to recommend to any one James &Sandra

Everything just about worked but the standard was pretty basic (for example the wardrobes are very old and wobbly, drawers sticky etc.). Breakfast is basic (good drinkable coffee costs an extra euro for example). Location is good and it’s an easy 20 minute walk to town.

Homely B&B in a great location

Had a lovely few days at Casa Shanti Niketan, host and staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Room was clean and comfortable. Having lived in Monte Estoril a long while ago, we chose this B&B for it's location (10-15 min stroll in each direction for Cascais and Estoril) and value for money - it ticked all the boxes and we definitely hope to return.

Hidden Gem

From a very warm welcome to a reluctant farewell we were so well looked after in this beautiful and charming house. The bed, with lovely sparkling white sheets was comfortable, and the soft fluffy towels in the bathroom added to the experience. The breakfast was good, with plenty of fresh produce and fruit. We hope to stay at Casa Shanti Niketan again
