The Bairro Alto is the absolute BEST hotel in Lisbon, hands-down. In fact, I would say it is the best hotel in Portugal, and all of Europe, for that matter. Upon arriving, my family and I were treated like royalty. The attention that we received was personal, efficient, professional, while still being warm and inviting. Tatiana assisted with every single detail to make our stay comfortable—she exhibited the most impeccable form of hospitality I have ever experienced in any hotel. The 2 waiters named Francisco in the restaurant who worked at breakfast were incredible. Every single staff member, from the hard-working housekeeping team to the concierge to the purser made you feel as if you were the most important guest in the entire property. When I asked if there were eye pillows and the hotel realized they did not have them, someone sent away for one. That very evening upon returning to my room, a newly purchased eye mask was on my bed with a personalized, handwritten note. Apart from the top-quality service, the location of the hotel is perfect. The rooms are stunning—comfortable, quiet, extremely tasteful with the smallest details taken into account. Anytime we made a request, it was honored in a matter of minutes. If you are staying in Lisbon and you want to experience a little piece of heaven, look no further than this tremendous property. It will be the best money you ever spend on any hotel.

First and foremost I want to say the staff at this hotel is fantastic. Top notch. The rooms need work: our bathroom was so small it was hard to manoeuvre for one person, let alone two. The light switches were too complicated to use. No plugs by bed. Breakfast was delicious. Rooftop terrace is small but nice; staff on rooftop less accommodating than rest of hotel. Staff at front desk made up for everything. Location is good. Housekeeping goes above and beyond.

We stayed in four different 4-5 star hotels during our trip to Portugal. The Barrio Alto was my favorite! The staff was helpful and gracious with fantastic restaurant recommendations and dishes to choose, a gracious arrival bottle of wine, fruit and appetizers. We loved the double shower, design and furnishings of our room, and spectacular breakfast! Nothing was missed. We’ll be back!

Bairro Alto Hotel has easily become one of my favorite hotels after just a few nights there. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for an amazing experience. Everyone who works there was so helpful and kind. They even helped me book a fado show for one evening. The amenities are fantastic and such attention detail with everything they do. And it was hands down the best complimentary breakfast I have ever had. I emphatically recommend it!

We had the perfect ending to our Portugal trip at the Barrio Alto! From the moment we checked in, the attention to detail and high level of service was evident.
