Enjoyed a one night stay 16th June, on the way back from Southern France to UK. A fairly costly overnight stay but worth it. Room 108 a fairly spacious superior room had great character and was very comfortable. Wood panelled walls on 3 sides, confortable chair and bed, beautiful rug from Iran, high ceiling, lovely bathroom (toilet right next to tall window but blind does seem to prevent seeing in even at night with lights on!). If you don't have any dietary restrictions then there is a good choice for breakfast with hot and cold food. Staff were without exception friendly and helpful, they were lovely and really make a difference to a stay in a hotel. The man at the door on the first day who showed me my room, really lovely and kind. 10 minute easy walk to old part of Lille which is beautiful and worth a day or two. Good museums. The refurbishment of this historic building is lovely and respectful, many features have been left in place and there are lovely places to sit, large glass roofed bar with plentiful comfortable seating, small garden, library, ect. Lovely spa and pool, didn't use though. Some slight cons which meant I really wanted to give 4 1/2 (rather than 5). Paid €156 for room and €23 for breakfast, and on the day the price was €156 for room with breakfast included, it's a shame, but not everyone wants to risk leaving booking to the last minute (hence, for this reason I have marked "value" as 3, but think 3 1/2 would be fairer). I have coeliac and there was a very small choice of gluten free and it wasn't great - not entirely the hotels fault as they probably don't have great options, but other hotels have had much nicer bread which they have served warm. "Hot" food was really "warmish" rather than hot. As other reviewers have said it pays to bring ear plugs as there is a lot of noise esp in early hours, bangs and sounds of trollies. Hotel parking is expensive. Street parking next to hotel is free overnight and on Sundays, otherwise 2€ per hour and you can only put in a max of 2 hours at a time (but can go back after 2 hours and top up). Room service very exoensive and small choice. These cons do not deter though from a really lovely, but too short, stay. Would book again if staying in Lille and as I make the same drive every year, I would love to treat myself again! Thank you, to the lovely hotel staff,
This hotel is located on a surprisingly quiet street less than a 10 minute walk from the centre. It is a very classy hotel occupying an historic building which has been very sympathetically restored mixing old and new. For example the bar is located in the central courtyard which now has an impressive glass roof. Our room was spacious with a good bathroom and a good air-conditioning system. There was plenty of wardrobe space and tea & coffee making facilities. The Wi-Fi throughout the hotel was very good. Breakfast was served in a charming historic room however we did not find the selection of food to be of the best standard. For example on many mornings there was very little fruit and often hard and not ripe. The staff throughout the hotel were very pleasant and efficient. I very much enjoyed my visit to the swimming pool. We enjoyed the bar area on a Monday evening when there was a DJ with a good and not intrusive sound system. However we did feel the drinks were overpriced for example €11 for a glass of wine, €5.50 for an espresso and €17 for a glass of champagne. An excellent hotel in a pleasant city.
This hotel justly deserves its 5 stars , excellent friendly service in wonderful surroundings. Within a reasonable walking distance from the town centre. Expensive but worth the extra cost. The swimming pool and spa was a particularly welcome sight after a days's touring.
An outstanding hotel - could find no faults. This hotel has character and a background historic story. The swimming pool a real asset metal base and blue lights - we swam every morning with no one else to break our silence. Lovely spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff who were very attentive lots of attention to detail.Highly recommend if you like luxury and comfort but clean and modern.
Wow what a fantastic place with amazing staff! Had such a Lovley stay and the staff were so friendly helpful and really fantastic The check in lady was fantastic as were the breakfast staff Pool is also superb Highly recommended!!
After a tour of the WW1 Somme battlefields around Pozieres our APT bus pulled into our pre-arranged booking at this hotel. The porters and receptionists were friendly, happy and polite and soon had us settled into our very comfortable renovated room. However, the building workmanship used in the bathroom renovations was sub-standard and the toilet roll holder fell out of the partitioning wall! It had simply been screwed into the plaster without checking to see if a wall frame was there to accommodate the screws behind the plaster. The dining room and staff were fine, however, we did object to having to pay 124 Euros for two rounds of drinks for the two of us afterwards.
A lovely hotel with unique features. A word of warning...if you go for a swim in the evening watch out to make sure they don't lock you in accidently! Whilst I had the whole place to myself this was somewhat unnerving.
Pleasant enough hotel with good bedroom and nice bathrooms. but outside is swarming with beggars ( got called an ars#hol# by one). constantly was asked by staff to pay 30 Euro for executive parking which is a scam. Sunday is free parking in Lille , restrictions only apply 9am to 7pm daily, I parked nearby at rue de republic for 12 e for 12 hours. moved car that evening and left next morning before 9am. Front desk took 60euros of one guy in front of me, this place is not London by any stretch of the imagination.
In the hotel, the historical building is nicely combined with modern elements. The rooms are great and the service is very good and personal. The Gastronomique restaurant pairs very good food with beautiful wines. The bar has also an extensive list of drinks and enough food. We loved everything about this hotel, except L’Estaminet Gantois Brasserie. None of us liked the food there.
Had a great stay in Lille at a really nice hotel, Hotel L'hermitage was comfortable and the staff were always helpful. The Spa I thought was excellent and the swimming pool had a luxury atmosphere with bathrobes and towels provided. We found the hotel taxi service expensive compared to the taxis we got from the train station, but overall a great stay.
